Wave 4 is out!

While I was out yesterday I found Wave 4 Joe Vs Cobra at Toys R Us. They had all packs. The bad news is I had to get them at $7.99. The good news is that Hasbro is getting better with each wave. Wave 4 is better than wave 3. All the paint jobs were good and it seems that Hasbro is using a better grade of plastic with this wave as the figures legs aren't as "bendy" as wave 3. Just when I had given up on TRU, becase both here in Wichita haven't had any new figures since wave 1, they skip all the way to wave 4. Let the hunting begin.

My TRUs skipped from Wave 1 to Wave 3 just last week, so I doubt they'll get 4 anytime soon. (Wave 1 still enough to choke a donkey!!)

I'll definitely be checking Target, or maybe WalMart, since they get Joes before anyone else it seems around here anyway . . .

As with every GvsC Wave, though, I need to seem 'em in person before I decide what I want to buy.

I am glad to here that they are out. I can appreciate the fact that it has only been like a month since wave 3 hit the shelves, now wave 4 already. That's cool. I'll check them out, but I only "Hunt" for good toys, namely MOTU right now.

Well since I am not buying any new GvC stuff most likely, the new MOTU figs are pissing me off even more.

I need:

1. Mekanek

2. Triklops

3. TrapJaw

4. Teelu

5. Orko

I'll be skipping on Spin-Blade Skeletor and Bash-Blade He-man.

LOL!!! We're totally in the same boat!! We both want the same figs and can't find 'em!!

I guess in a way it's good that GvsC isn't as good as it is, because then it would be impossible to find, just like most of the new MOTU!!!

Exactyly. It's a good thing GvC sucks, If it didn't I would have to struggle to buy all the toys they are making. And it would be tough to find them if they were as cool as they used to be.

Just a quick question. Has anybody ever had a hard time finding any new GvC toys that were widely released? I mean, as soon as wave 3 came out, I was able to find every pack. Everytime I go to anystores that carry wave 3, they are all there. Have any of you had to "hunt" for GvC figures?

just picked up all of wave 4 at target today. it's 3:00am so i'm not in much of a condition to comment (review) on them right now, but i will agree with greatplainsmonk, that they are indeed improved over the previous waves (judging only from two packs i had the chance to open so far - duke vs. ripper, shipwreck vs. bats). they have a much more solid construction, and stiffer waists, they're not plagued by the loosely swiveling waists waves 2 and 3 had (that had me almost preferring wave 1). :P

i can say i'm regaining some of my optimism for the line that has of late been waning.

I am not fond of the motu line, sculpts are nice but they aren't realistic at all they got an anime style to them, skeletor just doesn't look as cool as he could have, the new cartoon isn't that good, and i've never been a big he-man fan.

Good news about the better construction. Can't wait till i get everything out right now, i've got a lot to go lol.

i just hope i find something this weekend in nashville or clarksville. damn i want trap jaw soooo bad. a year and a half ive been waiting since i learned of his release: its time , by God!!!

i first saw wave 2 GVC in clarksville a few months ago and it took another 2 months to get to where i live now...so maybe this weekend ill find wave4 in clarksville!

What, MOTU figures are not realistic?!? They have an anime style?? HAHAHA. Dude, haven't you noticed that you just describes the GvC line?

Tell me Flint's bigass hands and feet are more realistic than MOTU figures. Besides, MOTU figures are not supposed to be realistic, they never were. Even the old ones had huge muscles on every figure. That being said, they are still better proportioned than GvC figures, which are supposed to be modeled after real human proportions.

And the cartoon by the way, is pretty good most of us think. I like it much better than any other cartoon on the air now.

you guys are right in that there is a bit of anime mixed in with MOTU figures, but thats purely intentional: the 4 horsemen, who designed the figures out there now, originally DID NOT plan to have an anime style at all to the new guys, but in tests with kids, anime style proved to be popular, so they mixed it in A TAD, not overdoing it. i am no fan of anime, but i do not get annoyed by the style they are using in the new MOTU. in fact, the only anime influence i see is strictly in the fighting of the cartoon--and thats actually more like "crouching tiger, hidden dragon", to me anyway.

but sure, i can see why you guys would think that. i will say this: im just happy as hell that they didnt make it friggin CGI animation like the friggin GVC commercials out now. if they make a new gi joe cartoon as CGI, i will be one unhappy mofo.

What's up with all the Anime bashing? Sounds like you guys have only been exposed to the likes of Pokemon, Gundam, Dragon Ball Z and Yu-Gi-Oh. The Dragon Ball Z series' are cool, but only in the original comics IMO, which came out in the mid 80's, so I think it's pretty funny that only relatively recently it got imported. The show sucks IMO because of a) horrible voice acting and annoying music, and B) you gotta watch like 10 episodes for anything to happen!!!

But anyway, clam is totally right. MOTU was never supposed to be anywhere NEAR realistic, and yet they have more natural proportions than GvsC, the heir apparent to maybe THE most realistic action figure line of all time!! Go figure!!

But going back to the 4 Horsemen, I wonder if they'll ever reveal prototypes (if there were any) of their PRE-Anime MOTU designs. Depending on how different they are from the released versions, and if fan response is great enough, I can bet you a million bucks that Mattel might do a collector's series of 'em just for the hell of it!!
