Ah, so I am the only one so far to catch the nice little homage to the old Joe/TF connection.

Page 8, panel 2. Very nice. :)-

And for those who still don't get it....

I just picked up the issue today... I have to say, the series is progressing nicely. It will be great when Kurth leaves tho, his art is a joke. Kev Sharpe could draw circles around that chump (No offense to anyone related to the surname Kurth now @-@ )

Okay, just some thoughts-

IF YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT THE ISSUE LOOK AWAY NOW!

*Hawk still doesnt seem right to me... A couple times in this issue his facial expressions and attitude make him look like an arrogant mother lover.

*Sneak-Peek is "back". Dusty should be pissed.

* Beachhead getting on the hackers' cases on everything from their dumb-ass "wicked coo" codenames to their lack of military fitness. Go get 'em, BH.

* Billy doesnt have his tatoo in the training scene.

* Scrap Iron is back in business! He's still as distant and unconcerned with his fellow Cobra elite as ever :D I wonder if his loyalty can still be sold...?

* B.A.T. cleared a room full of Neo Vipers and ...um... man-servants? Still pretty hardcore for a lone B.A.T.

I am under the imperssion that the bat was "special." I know it looked normal but all that mess for a shipment of one bat? and that chip? Maybe that was an enhancment? who knows.

Good point.

If I remember correctly, all the original BATS built by Mindbender in the early 80s were junked (and found by Firefly in the eraly 90s). Also, I don't know if it's just the artists trying to add a detail to the trooper, but it has a yellow frame around it's 'eye' ... Maybe it is a special BAT!

However, I don't think it was so much trouble to get the BAT there (just an ARBCO truck parking in a depot) as it was to get the specialized chip. And as for that, I have no clue what it does...

Also, on a side note, what was up with the whole nuclear bomb scare? I mean really, couldn't they have turned the threat of a NUKE into something more than a two issue arc without any danger at all? Yeesh...

Oh well, at least in a couple weeks we get to see Alley Vipers and that BAT again!

another great issue.  makes me wish the new b.a.t.s had removable arms.

I'm not certain of this, nor have I read or heard anything to suggest it is so, but I'm thinking from some of the pictures of the new upcoming B.A.T. figure, that they may very well HAVE a removable hand, and weapon accessories to plug into it. Check out these pics, and tell me what you think? The backpack looks to be the original, which should hold the hand replacements just the same correct? It almost looks like you can see them to.

I think the issue was very good, but the artwork wasn't the greatest. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it was as good as previous issues. There was a new penciler for this 1 issue, it was Jamal Igle. The explanation was he was just filling in until the transition to Kevin Sharpe.

For instance I definitely agree w/ Tom about Hawk not looking right, I totally agree. And others that I didn't think look the greatest were: Duke (he looks too young!), and Zanya. But he still did a good job!

-It was another awesome issue of G.I. Joe!

Yes, yes, you may all agree with me - I have no problems with that 8)

Thanks for the back-up, Duke! I thought I was alone in thinking Hawk looked awful heh heh. However, I don't think Igle was as bad as Kurth. Kurth has pissed me off for (1) Wheelchair-ready Joes, (2) "Do you smell that?" faces and (3) shadow lines EVERY-FRICKEN-WHERE. Like I said, this comic might actually win an audience if Sharpe sticks around and Blaylock... um... falls off a cliff and someone with talent picks up the pieces he leaves behind (the story, not his carcass)

PS- For anyone looking to get down on me for hating Blaylock, and saying things like "Well, you're not writing GI Joe, are you?!" No, I don't have the talent to pull it off. And neither does some piddly little fanfic writer who happened to have enough money to throw at Hasbro.

I don't think that's the original backpack. Looks more like Torch's backpack to me. However, the right hand on the figure does look like it may come off...of course, this could just be wrist articulation.

Hmmm...you are correct my friend, that does look like Torch's backpack instead...good eye Darth!

Oh well, we may find him with detachable hand yet (here's hopin') :)

The backpack looks to be the original>>

Go to YoJoe.com, and actually *look* at the original BAT pack... this one looks *absolutely* nothing like it. In fact, having run through various sources on the figures, I dont see a single backpack that looks *anything* like that. It might very well be brand new.

Child Safety Laws prohibited the removable hand feature from being added to a Joe toy these days. The BATS will have standard arms.

The backpack is definitely NOT the original BATS version (as Darthjoe made clear) but I'm afraid Straight Edge, that Darthjoe is also very correct in it being the Torch backpack, and not "brand new". check it out..

The new BAT pack:

The old Torch backpack:

And your "Child Safety Laws" reference, doesn't make much sense either, seeing how the new figures have little hands that pull off already..? What difference would it make to have an attachment for the BAT? How much smaller, than a pistol that's included with them now, could it be? That's why the "5 years and up" is printed on the packages, there ARE indeed small peices that could be swallowed by "younger" children.

Not trying to bust your chops SE..just wondering where you got your facts?

Just got it yesterday... along with issue 9 (finally)!

Overall, I think it's great. 8) Anyone here read the Dreamwave Transformers G1 miniseries...? Because in comparison, there's practically no action taking place in the TF series, even though there's more pages of actual comic. It's pretty much all artwork and a very thin plot. GI Joe, on the other hand, is chock-full of stuff happening... which I love. 8) And yes, the artwork could stand to be improved... ;)

-Whoever said 'Hawk doesn't look right' in issue 10 is RIGHT. Oh man. When he's talking to Mainframe (what happened to Mainframe anyway? Do issues 1-4, which I haven't read, explain his funky getup?), and he says, "Mainframe... just gimme the facts"... that picture of Hawk scares the crap out of me. :o It looks like he's gonna eat you or something. :o Okay, not really, but he still looks freaky. ;)

-Sneek peek?! :o Ouch. Shhh, nobody tell Dusty!

-Oh man, each time I see Beach head, I think he's even cooler than before. icon_mrgreen.gif How can you not like this guy! Ordering around a pair of weenie hackers... his speech is great, I was cracking up! "Oh no you didn't!" Those 2 pages make issue 10 all the better. ;)

-Wow, Scrap Iron looks exactly the same. Cool. But Mindbender is supposed to be eastern European, right? He looks kinda Asian to me in the last few pages. Whatever, I guess I'm being picky though. ;)

-Back cover art is pretty cool, IMO. Different style, but still looks neat. 8)

Can't wait until issue 11... and issue 1 of Frontlines... this stuff is great! Yo Joe! :)-

Hey Nas,

An FBI agent (Anthony Beuke) working undercover for the Joe team has been given the codename of "Sneak Peek". In the scene where Duke announces that piece of info, Scarlett asks "The periscope guy?" She's just fuggin' lucky Dusty wasn't there or he'd dig up Sneak Peek # 1 and beat her to death with him.

But even if you don't think much of the TF comic, you have to love the way Prime defeated Devastator by himself. Awesome stuff! For the record, I think both comics are great. :D

And also for the record, I liked Kurth's artwork! And I think Blaylock is doing a great job. (ducks from flying fists from Tom) @-@

I would argue that point, but I'm a bit tired at the moment

-Whoever said 'Hawk doesn't look right' in issue 10 is RIGHT.

THANK YOU! :D

One thing I can compliment Igle on - Zarana? $000 H0T!!1

Scrap Iron took me by surprise because he has absolutely NO changes to him whatsoever  And he was written very well, considering his two or so lines...

Mindbender only looks asian cuz of the fu man chu he's sporting nowadays. I miss the handle-bar 'stache alot, but both work for the mad dentist...

That explained nothing, why would Dusty care about her calling the Sneak Peak, periscope guy.
