Star Wars: Skeleton Crew follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is set to have its U.S. premiere on December 3, 2024 on Disney+.

The cast includes Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon, and Nick Frost.

The series is directed by Jon Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung. The head writers are Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.

Executive producers for the project are Christopher Ford, Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Co-executive producers include Chris Buongiorno, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. The production team features producers Susan McNamara and John Bartnicki.

Lucasfilm Taps Simon Kinberg To Write & Produce New 'Star Wars' Trilogy

Lucasfilm has reached an agreement with Simon Kinberg to create a trilogy of Star Wars films, as reported by Deadline. Kinberg is set to write and produce the series alongside Kathleen Kennedy, the head of Lucasfilm.

The trilogy will consist of episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga, which originated with George Lucas's inaugural film in 1977. According to sources, Kinberg is set to advance the Star Wars narrative, indicating that this will initiate a new saga while complementing ongoing Star Wars projects involving James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi, and Donald Glover.

Kinberg has a history of collaboration with Lucasfilm, having co-created the Emmy-nominated animated series Star Wars Rebels alongside Dave Filoni and Carrie Beck. This series aired for four seasons from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, he served as a consultant for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, a film directed by J.J. Abrams that successfully revitalized the franchise in 2015.

Disney Unveils First Star Wars TV Show 4K Blu-Rays With Dolby Vision

Two shows from the Star Wars franchise have been confirmed for release in 4K Blu-ray format: the third season of The Mandalorian and the first season of Ahsoka. These titles will exclusively be offered in Steelbook collector’s editions, showcasing unique artwork created by renowned artist Attila Szarka. Additionally, the editions will include collector's cards and new bonus features. Notably, these releases will feature Dolby Vision masters and the standard HDR10 masters that were previously the sole option for all of Disney's earlier Disney+ television series in 4K Blu-ray. Furthermore, Disney has announced that these titles will also include Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

During the annual meeting of The Walt Disney Company France and its partners, a slide was shown revealing key art for Star Wars Resistance, a new animated series from Dave Fioni, set to debut this fall on the Disney Channel and Disney XD. The series, set prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will focus on Kazuda Xiono, a young pilot recruited by the Resistance, and will feature BB-8, Captain Phasma, and Poe Dameron, both voiced by the original actors.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has the return of J.J. Abrams as director and co-writer with Chris Terrio. The film stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid and Billy Dee Williams.

Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers.

Deadline is reporting that Dominic Monaghan will be reuniting with J.J. Abrams as he is joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX. No information on his character or what type of role Monaghan will be playing.

Back in 2014, he publicly expressed his desire to hook back up with Abrams in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, he’s got his chance.

“The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved,” Monaghan said.

As Disney prepares to launch its streaming service in 2019, they are attempting to build up their film catalog. Unfortunately, some deals made in the last few years are making that difficult. Sources say, they have been trying to regain the rights from Turner Broadcasting, who gained them in a 2016 agreement. Apparently Turner is not interested in losing the rights to the films, as they say, "...the talks haven’t advanced further."
Disney has also announced they will not extend their current deal with Netflix, which ends in 2019.
