Mattel has ThunderCats License

Recommended Posts

An entire year before the first figure? That's a bummer. I'm looking forward to these, but I haven't forgotten how slow-going it was early on with MOTUC at only one figure a month. What a total drag that was.

This line of Thundercats looks to be some good to collect. I would be buying all the classic figures from the cartoon. Bandai dropped the ball by just releasing 3 figures... I got Mumm-Ra and Leo-O but two figures from the Thundercats classic line was not my cup of tea. I want that Jackalman bad... I would collect all Mutants and yes I will also be buying the Filmation look figures that remindme so much to the cartoon characters.

I know Mattel has a lot of baggage, but I think this was the best thing to come out of SDCC this year. This should have happened a long time ago. I knew from the moment I heard the news about Bandi making the figures that it would end in disaster. I hope its successful and leads to playsets and vehicles. Can you all imagine a Thundercats Lair the size of that Snake Mountain they showed?

Space is a huge issue for many of us. I am seeing more and more fans say they are running out of it.

I'm at the point where my entire basement is the only option to display my collection. I am currently mounting shelves on every wall and track lighting to display what I have.

Gone are the days of just fitting everything on top of a dresser. It's so out of control but... alas, It's what I love.

I hope they tone down Lion-O's eyebrows. They're a little too accentuated for my tastes and it makes him look odd. Otherwise I agree that this is the best thing to come out of SDCC along with maybe Snake Mountain.

I hope they tone down the whole stocky body set up plus the eyebrows. I love Jackelman but Lion-o has a lot to be desired in the design. I really hope they thin him down and make him more close to the cartoon and not in comparison to He-man.

I don't think that is going to happen. The fact that they already have a buck means they are going to do as little retooling as possible to keep cost down. If they had to create a new buck then cost would go up and maybe people would not buy in.

I think ensign is right. I'm sure the only reason the line is happening is because Mattel can reuse parts from MOTUC.

And really if you watch the cartoon again, Lion-O was drawn with a lot of muscle to his stature (enough so that the MOTUC buck fits well in my eyes). Some of the others obviously weren't as big, but I don't feel it's too far of a stretch honestly. To each his own, though.

I was re-watching the original series (I have the entire series on DVD) and you are right. The Four Horsemen know what they are doing. The MOTUC buck works perfectly for the original Thundercats. I personally can't wait for this line. I know it will be GLOROIUS :)
