I loved those movies (still do), so I hate to be so critical of these figures, but the likenesses suck. There's just no excuse for it, especially from the very company who made such a point of making the Movie Star Turtles look so spot-on way back in the original line!

The facial expressions looks bad... This will indeed kill the line...

I'm jealous of my friend. He has a complete set of those movie star Turtles. I wish they were 100% movie accurate, though. They don't have the brown knee and elbow pads....

The early image looked better... I wonder what happened...

I think it's the same case with the wave 1 2012 TMNT figures. The Turtles in the official pics had highly detailed paint job including painted weapons but the actual product lacks a lot of the paint work and had a basic paint job. Same thing with the earlier sneak peak picture of movie Leonardo. Very good paint job to bring out the details and such but the final products lacks those paint mostly due to keeping the price point in control. I think if you add some paint work to the figures they will look a lot better. The sculpts there but a bit too smooth if you compare these to the Movie Star Turtles.

I didn't like the early images and I still don't like them, if only they were that soft rubber feel to give it that movie look instead of what these are that barely look movie but I guess they couldn't afford to retool all new turtles

yeah, they dont look as sharp as the earlier imiges, but they are not bad. my biggest gripe is the faces. mikey's got the best expression, the others are meh. a little paint detailing can go a long way with these figures. i may have to custom paint me a set to prove my point.

The point is we don't work for Playmates, and we shouldn't have to.

Equally, Playmates make toys for kids. I've only just realised not to expect collector quality, NECA-style work from them.

That said... these are supposed to be tehir "collector" line, so I am equally disappointed.

Exactly. And when all they have to do is a new head sculpt and paint apps, Id say they're getting off cheap enough as it is to let this crap pass.

I don't mind these, but then again I enjoy customizing my action figures. They better give us two Shredders now though.
