YOUR OFFICIAL "FORCE FRIDAY" CATALOGUE!!!!!

http://collider.com/star-wars-force-friday-toys-vehicles-action-figures-images/

Form the looks of it, Hasbro has given up on giving elbows, knees, and wrist and ankle swivel (in short: decent articulation) to their 3 3/4" figures. If you've seen the prices on those figures lately, it's probably a good thing. I've said before, if they want to send the articulation back 35 or so years to keep the cost down, I MAY still be on board, if the cost actually does stay down.....but they still don't have the money to give R2 his third leg? Good thing we've all got all the R2s we'll ever need.

I see a few more OT Luke, Han, and Leia reissues....they really want to hold out as long as they can before showing us their new looks.

I'll pick up the new Ep. 7 characters and cross my fingers this isn't Episode I all over again

Whoa there, bladebuilders...they're gonna need moar stupid lightsaber combos to fill a movie a year, and they just blow their wad like that? so much for he long-rumored pitchfork saber for Han Solo Begins

If building your own saber is a rite of passage for Jedi, does not expressing excessive creativity lead to the dark side?

Merchandising! Merchandising! Where the real money from da movie is made!

I'm way past turning up my nose at this aspect of the genre. Star Wars, Marvel, DC, ANY geek property is going to market the heck out of their movies and you just have to accept it and judge the final product on it's own merits.

Is there a lot of crap? Oh, most definitely. I'd say a good 90% or more is crap. Heck, my father in law bids on bulk auctions of junk and since he knows I'm a geek, I automatically get anything that happens to tun up Star Wars related....whether I want it or not.

"Hmmmmm.....'Star Wars Episode I' cereal bowls. Well, I don't know what it is, but it's Star Wars so I'm sure Adam will want it."

Ummmmm....Not so much. But it's technically a gift so if I don't take it, I'm an a-hole LOL

Had to get that off my chest...

Was by a Dillons Marketplace store today (for those that don't know Dillons is a part of Kroger and their Marketplace stores are just short of being a SUperwalmart) and they already had the New SW stuff out. All the figures had been bought, but a few things were still there and I did check on prices, They have always been right at Walmart prices. Black series still at $20, single regular figure (those 5 POA ones) at $8. The figures with speeders were $14 and those deluxe ones with body armor or whatever at $13. All they had was some of the Mash Ups (Maul looks pretty cool) and the Trooper with speeder (looks nice, but I really don't need this right now). The 5 POA figure with the add on stuff looks nice, but all they had was a Boba and RoTJ Luke. Didn't pay attention to the Micro stuff. Thought I'd pass this along.

I had a dream last night about finding these in the stores....or rather, finding all of the leftovers that no one wanted (most likely my recent experience with GI Joe imposing its way into my dreams in the form of Star Wars).

Here's a review for Finn

Also, I find it interesting just how many people are doing customs of Luke based on rumors and their best guess. As if an official figure isn't imminent. To each their own, of course.

I went to my local Walmart on Saturday (8/29) and found a bunch of "Force Awakens" stuff in a corner of the toy section.

They had a fairly good selection; the stormtrooper, the firetrooper, the two lead actors, Finn and Rey and one 6' figure of Rey.

I tried to buy some of them and the register said "do not sell". The cashier ried multiple times but the register would not allow the sale to go through.

So I guess I'll have to wait until after Sept.4th. I can tell you guys that the figures look sweet. The likenesses on the figures is surprisingly good.

I wasn't able to test the articulation but at least they look good.

I'm trying to think if that is any bigger or smaller than my POTF2 X-Wing. I've known for years that it's not in exact movie scale but I never wanted to spring for the bigger one. But at least the pilot can fit into the cockpit and the guns don't look like wet noodles.

You could stay home and buy everything right now on Amazon...a lil patience...it will be at your door Tuesday with Prime.

I almost did that but I'm going to chance it and wait. I have dozens of Target gift cards that have just been sitting from the wedding over a year ago. Plus returns will be easier if the movie sucks :D (but I'm not counting on that).

Tell us, how many figures did you buy from this movie you hate? :D

I actually went to Walmart at around 11:20 and they had a display set up with all the new toys in the middle of the aisle. Funny, because my Walmart never hs squat except a few Hans, Obi Wans, and Bespin Lukes.

Anyway, there were 4 other collectors there, and we each got a complete set of the 6" Black figures and everyone was able to grab a few extras.

The display was three rows, 1 deep. The display broke don like this...

4 Chewbaccas

4 Stormtroopers

9 Kylo Rens

9 Finns

9 Reys

Seemed like a funny ratio, but the display was still wrapped up and none had been taken. Needless to say the 6" figures were gone in under 3 minutes.

I was able to score a complete set along with an extra Stormtrooper, Kyloe Ren and Chewbacca to open. A few of the guys only bought a couple, so I lucked out with their picking and choosing.

Great figures, BTW...

Thanks for the heads up YJB.....I was up at midnight last night trying to fix my issues w/Battlefield 4 online.....I guess I could have went to TRU....I opted to put sleep in my cart & dreamed about a land where no scalpers exist & the pegs are not cloudy all day......Soooo this morning before work I pleaded w/my lady to stop by walmart ....Scored 1 Kylo Ren & 1 Stormtrooper...take that overpriced Comic-con fig....there were 4 other guys there digging through stuff I was surprised there were still Stormtroopers left....at first I didn't see any & was spazing out inside....in my mind I was already crying in the shower.....washing away the dirty blues...but then one of the other guys said there's 2 troopers left if you want them....most kind of those other fanguys helping me out....I took one & left the other, I'm trying to spread the toy karma around....plenty of Kylo's, Chewies & the other 2 characters....but yes Stormtroopers are an addiction for many....I have 10 of the old ones....yikes....there goes my community college fund....anewayyys....I came this close to buying the Micro Machines.....love those little guys....yikes...I'm coming down w/Star Wars Fever....wonder if it will give me Diabetes like the time I caught Pac-Man fever..... @stormtrooper@

Welp, here's my Force Friday report:

Left the house at about 9 am with a Target and Walmart gift card firmly in pocket.

Hit Target first and it was a complete bust. No basic 3 3/4" figures left. Only two 6" Chewies dangling on the pegs (difference between the other 6" Chewie from a few months back couldn't be more minor). Not a good sign...

Hit the closest Walmart next and it was a winner. They had at least one of everything in 6" and 3 3/4", plus both scales were priced $1 cheaper than Target. I recommend Walmart.

I scored one each of all the guys I wanted: 3 3/4" Kylo, Stormtrooper, Captain Phasma (my 3 main wants), Finn, Rey, and 6" Kylo. I almost got 2 Stormtroopers but decided to go easy for now. Almost didn't go with the 6" Kylo but I thought, what the heck, he looks cool enough. Would have been nice if Rey came with 88-B instead of the build a weapon thingie which I couldn't care less about but her 3 3/4" head sculpt looks better than her 6" version. These may stay MIB until I see the movie but I wouldn't be surprised if I break down.

Couple of observations in general on the 3 3/4" stuff:

Nice sculpts, paint aps, and box art. Articulation straight out of 1978. Same price as I paid for a POTF2 figure 20 years ago (if you go to Walmart). Make of that what you will.

Completing one of those build a weapons requires you to buy one of the OT characters that you already have half dozen of. Nice, Hasbro.

The only sticker shock I encountered was with the above mentioned and highly questionable X-Wing. When I saw that picture I guessed $30 but I was afraid it would be $40. Nope........FIFTY DOLLARS! TIE Fighter was no better at $40. Pass and pass.

On my way out of Target, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a Jar-Jar Binks Masher figure. God love 'em, they'll still try to market this guy every so often.

Got all I need for now. Until they decide it's time to unveil old Luke in all his plastic glory....

None, yet. Going shopping/errand running after work today. I only plan on buying prequel Micro Machine sets if they are out there....some were on the product checklist. I might buy the new movie Micros, but the figures, especially the 5POA that im interested in, will be around a looooong time. Long enough at least to make a decision on the movie itself.

They will, and the rerelases will be plentiful like with all SW figures. But you never know when the price will go up. I'm telling ya, buy now, save the receipt!

I opened my 6" Kylo (that didn't take long). He's an easy repackage if worse comes to worse. In the mean time, this figure is pretty bad ass. Excellent use of soft goods and plastic robe detailing, you can get him in a lot of neat poses, his legs aren't hindered at all. His saber (ie: the most heavily nit-picked weapon in any fantasy genre) looks sweet.
