I've been watching DOTM, and some questions have arisen. Now, if I'm correct, the first film was basically about how Megatron was trying to find the Allspark in order to revive Cybertron to its former glory. Am I right about that? But then in ROTF, we learn about the race of Primes that were harvesting energy from stars. But upon learning of the presence of humans, they wanted to quit their efforts, but The Fallen wanted to diminish the Earth's Sun anyway. He was defeated and outcast, and the other Primes sacrificed themselves to hide The Matrix of Leadership, an artifact they needed to power the device hidden by the ancient pyramids that would acquire the Sun's energy, thereby destroying all life on Earth, and that was the true reason Megatron needed the Allspark, that it would lead him to the Matrix. He wanted to re-establish The Fallen as the rightful leader of all Transformers and ruler of Cybertron once again. But maybe he was planning to defeat The Fallen himself and take over, with Sentinel Prime's help. But that's never implied, is it?

Now, in DOTM, we learn that in actuality, Megatron was supposed to rendezvous with Sentinel Prime before he was waylaid in the Arctic Circle and Sentinel Prime crash-landed on the Moon. Their goal? To set up a space bridge to bring Cybertron into Earth's atmoshpere...why? They spoke of enslaving the human race, but to do what, exactly? Rebuild Cybertron? Did they need the energy of the Sun, with The Fallen's leadership, in order to accomplish such a task, or humans for that matter? But why would they have needed the device to harness the sun's energy if they would have found the Allspark like they had intended? In Prime's monologue in the first film, he says that the Allspark had the "power to create worlds and fill them with life." So wouldn't that imply they didn't need the device? And was The Fallen even in on the whole plan to form an alliance with Sentinel Prime? He never mentions it in ROTF, and Sentinel Prime doesn't ask where The Fallen is when he meets up with Megatron.

Maybe the sun-sapping device was a back-up plan if the Allspark couldn't be found. But that doesn't make sense either, because they would still need the information they gleaned from Sam's mind he absorbed from the Allspark to find the Matrix in order to activate their device, meaning they couldn't activate the device without the Matrix, and they couldn't find the Matrix without the Allspark, or at the very least, the info from the Allspark...

And going back to DOTM, if Sentinel Prime was secretly an ally of the Decepticons, then why would they have fired on his ship like they show at the beginning of DOTM? Was it so secret that some Decepticons didn't know not to fire on him? Or are we actually seeing Autobots firing on them because they know they're traitors? Or maybe Sentinel Prime was taking a huge risk fleeing Cybertron while keeping his crew in the dark on his true intentions.

I don't know...when I try to make all of the puzzle pieces fit, it doesn't make sense to me. Am I just not smart enough to figure it all out? (lol) Seriously, have I just missed something somewhere that explains all of this? Oh, and one more thing, and this one may be easily explained, but...when Optimus revives Sentinel Prime with the Matrix, Sentinel informs the humans that his space bridge pillars defy their laws of physics. How does he know? He was just revived after being in stasis for decades on the Moon. Had he studied-up on Earth's entire history and humanity's combined intelligence during his trip to Earth? I guess that's plausible. They seem to be able to wirelessly download information immediately, so maybe in the short time Sentinel Prime was revived, his advanced computerized brain had instantly downloaded everything about Earth and/or humanity. I guess that's kind of a stretch though...

I usually just enjoy the films and try not to think about it all too much. But sometimes I try to make sense of it all, and it hurts my head. (lol)

Me neither... when you compare these movies to the 'old' 84-86 G1 series, what Michael Bay made is nothing more than a disgrace towards the Transformers brand.

(lol) Well, those weren't quite the responses I was looking for...

The thing I don't care for with the films is how all of the human characters are mostly idiots, even Sam. It wasn't quite as bad in the first film, but it seems as if everyone has to be comedic, sarcastic, spastic, or all of the above, and that's real annoying.

I like the epic elements, like the battles and transformations, and anytime Optimus speaks. But that's about all these films have going for them.

And speaking of idiots, Sam is not a main character I can get behind. He's either always angry, sarcastic, irreverent, or screaming like a banshee about something. It makes one wonder if he's on crack or something. (lol) Seriously...for example, I cringe at the part in DOTM where he's outside the secret N.E.S.T. base trying to get in, and when they trap his car at the gate, he starts screaming like Sam Kennison. I just want to smack him when I see that part. Then there are times when he's screaming for Bumblebee to come help him, but then when he shows up Sam starts fussing at him. It's just ridiculous.

It's Michael Bay. There will be a lot of angst. Spike in the cartoon was more useful then Labouf's Sam character was.

These films are as abad as it gets. Absolutely nothing connects them to Tranformers apart from their name.

Well, the thing is...in the first film, Sam came across as this slightly annoying, somewhat spastic character, but Labouf kept it in check; the whole hopped-up-on-speed, motormouth screamer thing came out only when he was distressed. In ROTF and especially in DOTM however, he portrayed it as simply his character, and it got on my nerves. He was no longer relatable like he was in the first one. By the time DOTM rolls around, he just comes across as a big jerk and not so much a humble hero.

here's a kicker, in the 2nd movie they used the leader of matrix/allspark(it was the same thing) to bring optimus back to life that they had found buried for centuries, yet in the 3rd optimus tried to give it to sentinel saying this is yours since your alive because he led before optimus.....scartch your head on that one

From the looks of how the plot progressed, I think Megatron's plan was to get the Allspark and meet up with Sentinel Prime to rebuild Cybertron, betray him and take over. He was in league with the Fallen and wanted to become a Prime and only was going along with the Fallen's plan as well in order to have enough energon to rebuild Cybertron but most likely would have betrayed the Fallen as well. The problem with the movies is that this isn't very clear and we are presented with a Megatron that doesn't seem like the leader of the Decepticons but everyone else's lackey, a middle management if will (ala Noah Bennet in Heroes).

Sorry man, the story was pieced together by manatees in a tank. None of them really fit together if you think of it, the first movie the President announced the Autobots existed on television at the end, plus it is hard to hide two story giant robots battling in the center of downtown anywhere. Of course the second one completely glosses over this point and acts like there was a huge cover up and that there was a special team of soldiers fighting along side the Autobots to keep the Decepticons a secret... something like that. When you finally get to DOTM there have been several battles in public, including the destruction of an Egyptian pyramid but still the Transformers are secret. It makes no sense. Michael Bay likes spectacle, it has nothing to do with actually making sense, just loosely pieced together story so they can ramp up to then next fight or explosion. If you skip every part without a transformer in the movies then it is just a slug fest of giant robots. Why do I need to know giant robots have bodily functions? Jetfire farting comes to mind.


Speaking of the addition of human actors, Michael Bay seemed to enjoy adding as many penis jokes as he could in all the films. He had Bumble Bee pee on one of the agents in the first film, there were several masturbation jokes, he enjoyed seeing the male characters in compromising situations with their pants down, the over the top sexual themes with the female cast and not to mention giving Devastator testicles. I fail to see how it was a children's movie even though it was distributed directly to them.

The acting was over the top and spastic because I suppose Bay likes that in his movies, looking back at Bad Boys with Martin Lawrence being the spaz, Armageddon using Ben Affleck in the same position, The Rock with Nicholas Cage in more of the same... I could go on and on. The best thing to do is just not watch a Bay film. I would rather boycott the guy, he can't keep messing up my childhood. Now he has the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to mess up for me.

You can tell the movies weren't meant to be a trilogy. The first one did well, so they made another one, then Michael Bay was done.. and then they saw how much RotF made and he wanted to make another one. He even said he was done again, lol.. now he's making another one.



I like to look at them as 3 seperate movies. Yeah, they all have Sam and a few of the same humans in it, but other than that, I don't try to piece them together, because no matter how hard you try, I don't think it's possible.



I do remember in the book or the comic, I don't know which one and don't remember how it turned out in the movie, but The Decepticons go to shoot down Sentinel Prime and the Autobots think they did and are sad because they think their leader is gone. I don't know if that helps or hurts the story now, lol.. but I remember that part because when I saw the movie I remember it not being the same or something like that.

And thats credit and a plus to Bay in going the traditional sequel route and not falling into the whole "Selling a trilogy" marketing that Hollywood is all about...that format is beyond stale, especially plugging the "second one has to be the darkest"...barf

you bet...I'll take the forgettable one-off offense of Devastator's robo-ball in one movie to, say, the complete destruction of the Jedi philosophy and character dragged out in a 3 story arch

Then again, he did put Sam's parents in all 3 movies...
