One of my problems with any additional movies is the apparent lack of future conflict; with Jabba, Vader, and the Emperor gone, any enemy, whether from the comics, novels or Lucas' own ideas, would have to be established/retconned into the movies. What if the seeds for the next movies come from what will most likely be the last 2 seasons of The Clone Wars?

What if Ahsoka's fate is left up in the air? What if, while establishing the new Jedi order/wiping out the final remnants of the Empire, Luke/Leia sense(s) Ahsoka (60-70yrs+)? ("Episode 7: The Lost Remnant") She keeps Luke from going dark side/vice versa? (Too Dark Empire?) Just curious, Has the EU (comics /novels) taken Luke/Leia to Naboo yet?

LOL, I think this is the first thread that I posted first in that I DIDN'T start. Ironicly, I WAS about to start an Episode 7 speculation thread but chose to put that link in the other thread. AAAAAANYWAY....

Yeah, the conflict it the main hurdle here. Who are they gonna fight? Yes, the Empire could be "not quite gone" but unless they do someting besides just having the bad guys come back, the conflict is going to seem hollow compared to the OT. You see, what made that conflict interesting was not the Empire in itself, it was Darth Vader and his connection to guys like Luke and Obi Wan, his motivation to bring luke to the dark side. Take away Darth Vader, and now you just have an evil organization that wants power. You have your footsoldiers with slightly different costume variations, a couple of generals, maybe, and your main bad guy (the Emperor), though while cool and well played, is really just the final boss on a video game. You can look to EVERY OTHER geek genera to find an evil organization like that. Without Vader, the Empire is not special.

I doubt they would adapt anything from the Zahn trilogy.

it would be hard to adapt, as those happened 5 years after ROTJ, but I fear losing any reference to them or total wipe of long fan accepted canonicity.

Heir to the Empire had a big hand in making Star Wars cool again...some choose to be ignorant of or were not around during the dark years of Star Wars (about 85-91). Nary a Star Wars piece of merch to be found, save for micro machines and bend-ems. I swear that A New Hope was part of a cheap movie package shown on my local UHF station Saturday mornings for many years with the likes of Flash Gordon, Tron, Masters of the Universe, and Superman IV.

My guess would be we would see the rise and fall of another Jedi. Luke could either be like Mace or Yoda. I'd keep Leia on Coruscant or where ever they put the new Republic. Not sure what to do with Han.

I wouldn't mind seeing the story of Anakin Solo

I'll bring over from the other thread my last thoughts!! :P

Well for arguments sake, say the big 3 reprise their roles, they're too old to be galavanting throughout the galaxy!! The story should focus on the next generation, the kids or grandkids even!! Yes, they are that old!!

What roles will they play though?? Leia could be president of the Senate? Han commander of the army? Luke Jedi Master training the new Jedi? Lando President of the Trade Guild? Chewie member of the Senate?

What about the kids or grandkids?? What actors could be the offspring of Han Solo and Leia? Please don't say Shia!! >_<

Say for more argument they decide to recast Han and the rest and continue a lil after the events of ROTJ, who would play them?? Who could even attemp to fill Harrison's shoes as Han??

I just want to point out this all confirms a thread Wheeljack posted a couple of years ago about this very thing, and Lucasfilm denied it then. To be fair though, perhaps they weren't honestly considering it then, but who truly knows, except for maybe Kathleen Kennedy and George Lucas himself:

New Star Wars Movies Planned

Looks like Wheejack's source was right on the money. And...I may need to trust my gut more often, because at the time, I also said this:

My gut feeling for a while now has been Lucas is leaning towards making Episodes 7, 8, and 9. I've said it time and time again. What do I base this on?

1. Lucas maintained for years that the entire saga consisted of nine episodes in all, if not more. Maybe he did change his mind in recent years, but the fact remains he had stated in times past that there are more than six episodes in the overall story.

2. Mark Hamill has recounted discussions with Lucas about playing the elder "Ben Kenobi" role in the form of an older Luke Skywalker even as early as during the filming of the first Star Wars. The projected theoretical date Lucas proposed? Around 2012. That may not be set in stone of course, but this is from interviews Hamill himself has given in recent years.

3. In my mind, Lucas is way too invested in his brainchild and way too creative to give up on the Star Wars universe during arguably one of the most innovative and exciting times technologically in the entertainment and film world. Blu-ray and 3-D technology is exploding right now, and I don't think the man can resist taking advantage of it. I think he's inspired by new film-making technology, as he has implied time and time again over the years. Jurassic Park and advances in CGI technology inspired him to do the prequel trilogy, and so I think that films like Avatar and 3-D technology have once again inspired the man to do more Star Wars films.

I'm terribly excited about the possibility of new Star Wars films. If it turns out to be bogus, contrary to my gut feeling, ahh...I'll still be excited about the proposed live-action show and 3-D conversions. But I'm tellin' ya...new movies are coming. To quote Hot Rod from Transformers: The Movie: "I've just got this feeling..." (lol)

Is it alright if I say...told ya so? (lol)

What I WANT to see in a new SW movie:

Swashbuckling!

A good story

Scenes shot on a set/on location

Ackbar!

What I DON'T want to see in a new SW movie:

Green screens

Politics

Han Solo with ear ring

Fetts- Jango died like a punk, Boba died like a punk, let's not continue with this legacy of loosers. And certainly, let's keep Boba dead (chances of this happening, nearly zero).

What I don't want is to see the original 3 do any kind of swashbuckling at all!!! They are all well past their prime, it'd look rediculous!!!

Have them command, but not be in the action, at least not that much!!! The future of Star Wars lies in the next gen!! Sons and daughters!!

Unless they re-cast the leads with new actors!!

I really don't think what I'm about to suggest will actually happen, but...it's not too far-fetched to think ILM could digitally alter the principle actors' faces to look younger. They did it pretty convincingly in X-Men: The Last Stand with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Lucas has already implicated though the films would be age-appropriate so to speak like they did with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, where the time period would fit the aging of the actors.

I agree with that. I'm assumeing that there WILL be a younger cast to go along with the original 3. And no, don't recast them and don't do any kind of digital altering BS.

If we do see the orgional 3 I don't expect anything big from them possibly except Luke because he is a Jedi Master

that's a given, as there will be scores of new Jedi he will have trained...because people cant go 2 minutes without a lightsaber ignition. I wonder if they will be as wooden as the prequels depicted

Yeah, the lightsaber (and even the Jedi) became less special thanks to the prequils' over use. Like Michael Bay robots blowing each other up over and over again, you get numb to it. That is what I hope the new movies avoid, learn from prequil mistakes.
