Still working on the other dios, but I've finally started work on the Temple of Doom. My first attempt to make this was in 1985, but that version didn't work out too well. Hopefully, this one will be better.

To start with, here's some of the reference photos I used.

I started with the columns, making them in three parts. The top is cast from two latex moulds:

Can't wait to see the finished project, are you going to post pictures of the project in process??

Yes, I've got a lot more pics to post, but I'm temporarily been locked out of my photobucket account, so I can't host the pics at the minute. I should have updates tomorrow.

I cast the top of the columns from a latex mould.

The shaft is made from cereal box card, scored and folded around.

The bases are made from squares of balsa wood. I'm going to wrap some ribbon arounbd the base to simulate the carved decoration that you see in the movie.

The next stage was to make the winch. It's made of card with wooden balusters from a doll's house shop for the handles. Then I glazed it with wood stain to make it look like wood.

Here's the winch finished:

I then made the base of the stage area out of card and cut in holes for the winch and firepit.

Here's a view with the first stage of the columns in place:

I've started working on the statue of Kali, which is going to be difficult to make. I started by buying three cheap plastic dolls and cutting their heads off (which felt kind of weird). Then I glued two extra arms onto the main figure. There's still two to add, but I need to reshape them first.

It should look less perverted when I've painted it black and put the proper Kali head on.

Some progress on the statue: all six arms added and chains threaded through to hold the cage.

I've also started the doors for the fire pit.

I'll post the steps I've done so far. I've been working on it since December. The base is all cheap wood from Lowe's and then cheap pieces to put it together. I'm trying to be affordable as possible,

Awesome work, man. The statue is amazing. I love the elephant head at the side. I've bought a plastic elephant to use in the same place.
