Look at the number of theaters showing Star Trek compared to Khan as well.. ~4,000 to ~1,000 times have changed a lot since the 1980's. The number of theaters that showed Star Wars compared to Episode III were also vastly different.

Ah, good point about the symbols! We can explain away all kinds of minor changes because the timeline is messed up... but not yet at that point. Although... didn't they mention in Enterprise a few times that they wondered if the timeline had been changed by all the "time war" stuff? So perhaps Enterprise created a new alternate timeline, which Nero then further altered... taking us even farther away from the original series. I'm sorta grasping at straws there, but what the heck! Stupid time travel and its inevitable paradoxes!

I did like the blue uniform that they had Papa Kirk in - it was a nice bridge between the Enterprise uniform, and the original Trek look.

Another minor quibble I had is, isn't Bones supposed to be a good deal older than Kirk? I suppose we never had his age officially established, but Deforest Kelly was about 10 years older than Shatner, and Urban is about 10 years older than Pine... so why did we see Urban as McCoy dressed in his cadet's uniform at one point, which to me put him close to Kirk in age? Maybe McCoy just entered the service at an older age than Kirk? Or did I miss something?

I also liked explaining the "Bones" nickname. No one calls a doctor a "sawbones" anymore, so that doesn't really work. With Deforest Kelly, we could assume it was just that he was skinny, but Karl Urban really ain't skinny, so a new explanation was needed.

Anyhow, I didn't see any errors that detracted from my enjoyment of the film. The movie makers were very good about respecting the details of the old Trek, but it's still fun to see if I can catch any tiny mistakes! It's part of the fun of being a Trekkie!

l believe ya missed somethin

When McCoy first shows up, it is implied that he is much other than the others when he said that he doesn't want to go to space but has to because his ex wife "took the earth with her during the divorce"

Bones also said that he is already a dr, which implies that he is a bit order than Kirk..

That's great, if you're a fan, it doesn't mean squat if you're part of Paramount or an investor associated with Paramount. More can be made with one successful movie than an entire series run if the movie made correctly/a movie that draws in a huge repeat crowd.

Just saw the new movie and really enjoyed it! I did notice that Kirk seemed to have a bit of a habit of nearly falling off things though - he ended up clinging on to the edge of a cliff, the drill and something else I think as well. Looking forward to the sequel already.

The network can dictate the cost of advertising and this is over a season of 6 months while movie by then are out of theaters
