ts not that i "hate" the toy line. The figures actually look good so far, the vehicles are blah "BUT" to a child they would be awesome and thats the whole point.

Im a picky collector though. I pick up stuff for nostalgic reasons, or if its just absolutely amazing. though this line to me holds none of those qualities, i think its actually a pretty good looking movie line compared to some of the stuff we get. The molds look good, the articulation is good, and the packaging is good as well. I think a lot of collectors will change their minds when they see them in stores.

Ultimately i feel these figures will fully serve their purpose of entertaining children between the ages of 5-12 just fine. Lots of accessories to play with and light & sound vehicles and spring loaded missiles! ROCK ON!

stevey maximus, it is NOT the real Night Raven, remade from the original molds. people like myself who are mostly hardcore 25th line want cool vehicles and figures like that. when we see something that looks so cool and then get let down when we see its just a cheap version, it sucks. how do you know theres even going to be a night raven in the movie? we love the 25th line because it takes us back to when we were kids and we loved the original line. I was there buying my first figures in 1982 when they first came out, I doubt you were even born yet, so you wouldnt understand.

Here's the bubble burst:

These are MOVIE toys, designed to tie into the big budget action film later this summer. This isn't the 25th line, despite reusing figure molds and designs. First and foremost, these toys are tied to the feature film, and expecting Hasbro to continue catering to old fans is just unnecessarily raising expectations.

From summer until after christmas, GI Joe toys will be dominated by movie product. That is a FACT, and you might as well accept it now. You don't have to like a damned thing shown, but it doesn't change the REALITY that the retro stuff will be on hold until next year.

And, Hasbro has been saying since last summer that a new Night raven (similar to the original, which this really is) was going to be featured in the new movie.

Here's what disappoints me about this stuff.

I was expecting.........hoping for more investment into the movie vehicles.

That is to say more original designs, more adherence to scale ( hence larger toys that take a bit of balls to market), and just plain something a bit different.

Of the rough dozen vehicles I have seen thus far, half of them are repainted, re-purposed stuff from other parts of GIJOE.

Now, normally, that'd be okay, but most of the re-use is RECENT stuff, and barely different looking in ANY respect. That says to me that Hasbro is being timid with this stuff--playing it safe and.......well.......doesn't have a whole lot of faith in their market.

Not that I blame them.........but this was a great opportunity, probably the BIGGEST opportunity that the GIJOE brand has ever had, and its coming across as being royally half-assed.

Thus far, the movie vehicle that intrigues me the most is the Playmates T4 Hunter Killer--which is a very cool looking design--far more interesting that anything the GIJOE stuff has offered to date. Its a pity that Hasbro has nothing comparable.

Now, maybe this is going to be a case of the "best is yet to come" and I hope so........but its off to a very weak start IMO, and my assumptions are its not going to get much stronger.

hugs Steevy... Someone gets it!!!!

Also, I saw on another board this morning that this resembles the Firefox jet:

Is it just me or does the new night raven look like the soviet plane clint eastwood stole in the movie firefox. I love that movie.

It looks alright, but there's just something about it thats...off. I'm not even sure what it is.

Would that figure even fit in that cockpit? He looks too big for it.

This plane wasn't something that was released in that mini Sigma 6 line and repainted, was it? Sorry, I paid very little attention to that line. I also did not read every post here so sorry if that was already addressed.

Ummm I am kinda iffy on the new Night Raven........ it looks better than most new molds..... but the "new" STing Raider prooves they can mold better than this. I am just not sure what is off on the NR but something bothers me. The rest is kinda trashy.

awe man.. I am BUMMED

I thought it was going to be the real Night Raven.

It IS the real Night Raven, the real MOVIE Night Raven.

It baffles me to no end to see fans hark that this "isn't the original toy" when Hasbro made no guarantees of such. In fact, expecting the original mold would have been foolhardy to begin with since you figure Hasbro is going to use a movie toyline to, y'know, support the movie.

mmk.. you done sticking up for Hasbro now?

I never said they promised to use the old Nightraven.

I was just hoping that it would be because we have already seen that they are going to reuse a few original vehicles in the "MOVIE" line. So tell me again, why it would be foolhardy to think that they might reused the original Nightraven, when they have already shown that they will be using RAH molds for movie vehicles?

I will take two of each. If the Raven is in $25-30 (thought it), might even take 3....its close enough to the orginal. Just cant tell if its a one or two seater. Two seater you can plug in the red Strato-Viper, coming in the two pack. My son will reap the rewards with my passion of GI JOE collecting.

Well guys, I thought I'd show this here first.

btw yojobro82 look again at the cockpit unlike the original raven this one seats well one.though i agree the pilot looks like he may have trouble sitting in the thing

I just hope they do a movie style HISS even if its not in the movie . heck that didn't stop them using TF that weren't in the movie to make extra movieline figures

Ice Saber (or whatever they are going to call it): That mold was one of the better ones at the tail end, so its not such a bad bolster vehicle. But who ist he guy on it? He looks like a Cobra....

Skimobile thingy: Its visually interesting. On one hand, it looks oddly futuristic, but on the other it seems to work anyway. Wonder what the "cockpit" looks like.

Snow Job: The same, oddly, goes for Snow Job. The green is weird, but not bad.

Scarab: That is NOT a Cobra vehicle. It doesn't fit. It looks to "realistic". Also, it makes me think its going to either have a motor (ala M.O.B.A.T.) or be full of sound parts (ala the Ringneck).

Motor-Viper: I like how they used the vest to give him a "correct" uniform. Too bad the legs don't work. Maybe Wild Bill's legs woulda been better (give him the guns like the original). The helmet makes me thing "Alley Viper".

Well it looks like the Raven is a "two seater" like the original, meaning even MORE a cramped cockpit.

Something else to consider is that it also has lights and sounds. The Thunderwing was a good vehicle with the action features hidden well. I think this one works in that respect. The missiles in the engines are a little weird, but not a bad thing.

As for the size, most liklely they didn't have the original mold, so this is an homage (I wonder if we can get a Sky Raven later). In that respect, again, it works, but Arrow has a point about the timidity they are showing with this.

Makes you wonder how "big" the PItt actually will be....

Having real all the posts, it seems while they were honest by showing the fig in relation to the 'jet', Hasbro kinda shot themselves in the foot. I say that because it shows the scale. Without the fig, I would have been crazy-bouncing to get my hands on the thing. Yeah, I'd be shot down when I say the actual item, but at least I wouldn't have thought they are just mocking us!

The original was worth the $50 plus price tag this is should have been! Like I said, the thing was frickin' huge! AND it came with the solo-jet! This thing IS the solo-jet!
