Wow i'm late to this party

I have said in the past I would love to see this size from Star Wars the 3 3/4 were getting stale

These are $20 each... You ready for another line?... The good thing is MOTUC is coming to a close for me... I can shift some of my toy fund this way...

Well I am I don't have a wife and kids so I can afford it plus without more Transformer out this saves me room because I can't stand the Beast Hunters line

I always liked seeing the progression of Luke's character over the course of the three films, how he transitioned from a impetuous youth who longed for adventure, to a brash, impatient Jedi-in-training and ultimately, the cool-headed, mature Jedi Knight he became. I love every version and hope each one gets made for this line.

I hope with the new films, that Luke can retain a bit of his old self and not just be a stoic jedi sage...yknow, more gandalf the gray less gandalf the white. More Luke Skywalker and less any Jedi from the prequels (Yoda too)

So in short, you want the Jedi to have personalities. Yeah....yeah that is a radical idea. One of the (many) tough parts about the prequils was watching EVERY Jedi with a speaking line try to act like Alec Guiness. Let's hope Luke gets a different treatment.

I will usually defend the prequels to the very end. However, I agree with you guys for a change on this point, although I understand the Jedi had to be portrayed a specific way, i.e. very stoic, calm, collected, etc. in the prequel era, during their height of power. I do think Mace Windu was mostly an exception; you could see flashes of Samuel L. Jackson's trademark temper in the character, which I loved to see. That's where I think Genndy Tartakovsky's first Clone Wars animated series was superior to the films, the characters were written better with more personality. Incidentally, I feel as if George Lucas tried to inject some character and humor into Episode III with the whole hanger/elevator sequence at the beginning of the film, but it was too little, too late. In fact, it's probably the one sequence I hated the most...it was just so awkward and disjointed, and that's really saying something coming from me, because you guys know how I love these films. The dialogue was just horrid. And I hated the stupid voices Lucas decided to give the battle droids inexplicably, when before they all had that electronic monotone voice that was much cooler and more ominous. Then you had incredibly stupid lines like when they're in the elevator, and it suddenly stops:

OBI-WAN: "Did you press the stop button?"

ANAKIN: "No, did you?"

OBI-WAN: "No!"

Well, isn't it obvious if I'm asking someone if they pushed the stop button on an elevator, then I didn't do it? And if either party did, they're about two feet away from each other, always in plain sight, so you would SEE if they had pushed the button. *sigh* That's one of the squences that just make me angry when I watch it, it's so stupid. (lol) You guys know it's really something when I say something negative about the prequels...

Then there's something else, and it's a simple matter of physics, that bother me in this whole act; when Anakin, Palpatine, Artoo, and Obi-Wan are taken to the bridge, and Grievous has confiscated their lightsabers, he sticks them in a pocket inside his cape. Two things bother me about this: One, why would you have pockets inside a cape? And oh, it's just the right size for two lightsabers! How convenient! (lol) And two, simple logic dictates the lightsaber hilts would have some heft to them, thereby weighing the cape down on one side. It's just not very practical or logical, and it was written that way simply for the convenience of the scene. I hate it when movie makers sacrifice logic for the needs of a specific scene. It ruins it! Sorry guys...I don't know how I got off on such a tangent. You guys brought it out of me, when I usually disagree with you all on the prequels. (lol)

That is why to me the best aspect and character of the prequels was Qui Gon Jinn, he was the serene old Jedi Master but also kind of a rebel. He would question the council, did what he thought was right, damn the politics, while most of the jedi masters of the prequels came off as strict and one dimensional he would have a bit more character and didn't come off as a puppet of the politicians and counciil. Plus it was fun to see him scold Obi Wan whenever he made a mistake and act like a douche. Luke Skywalker has always been my favorite SW character because of the reasons Devilbat mentioned he was the best developed character I loved how in ROTJ he matured as a Jedi but still craved a bit of adventure and helped the alliance. I hope the new Luke retains some of those traits. Anyway as the Sandtroopers say move along, back on topic as I said before the figues look ok but I wonder at the lack of bicep swivel and other points of articulation especially on characters who have to hold two handed weapons. Also, the conspiracy theorist in me belives this is a carefully orchestrated plan of Hasbro to get them out of the financial problem they find themselves in: sell Star Wars figures in a new scale with less articulation at a $20 starting price point and as the old saying goes SW fans buy anything so Hasbro can make some profits, anyway I'll stop being a hater and let the discussion carry on.

Yeah, Hasbro is in financial trouble but I don't think the lack of a bicep swivel as any kind of big "out" for them. Looks as though the forearm will move back and forth at the elbow anyway.

All 6" figures are moving towards $20. This line just got there first.

Has anyone ever seen mark hamill with a beard? He looks so awesome with it. Reminds me of obi wan kenobi. I would love him to look a bit like his old master.

Actually I have...I don't remember where I saw it, but the page had a poll of some sort related to Episode VII. If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was a production still from the movie, it was that good. I'm almost 100% certain it was photoshopped though, because I'm sure they're barely in the pre-production phase, let alone at any point to take production stills of the actors in costume. But it looked as if it was a pic of Jedi Luke but with an older, bearded Mark Hamill photoshopped on, and he had a green lightsaber ignited in his hands. It looked cool, but I couldn't identify where they would have gotten a shot of him bearded the way he was, unless that was photoshopped too. Whoever did it did a good job, I mean it looked very much like how I would imagine Luke may look as the elder Jedi Master version of himself. He didn't look like Ben Kenobi though...maybe a variation of the Episode III general Kenobi. The beard looked similar, but of course his hair was different. I wish I could find that pic again. I'll post it here if I can find it.

EDIT: I found it! I found over at rebelscum.com on a snippet for Episode VII:

Y'know, the more I look at this, the more I recognize Anakin's tunic underneath from Episode II (Episode III?). I still can't figure out where they got that head-shot of a bearded Hamill from though...

I hope this line doesn't have multiples of the same characters. For instance, Bespin Luke one month, then two years later a Bespin Luke with removable hand and "That's impossible" crying face likeness. That's a game for the smaller scale. Just do one guy right the first time.

You hit the nail on the head!! This is what got me out of the small scale!! Constant rehashes of the same character!! Get it right the first time!!

As for me, I think I may get a favorite character here or there, but only maybe!! While I can afford it, I just can't fathom paying 20 bucks for a 6' figure!! colossal waste of money!! I guess my collecting days are behind me!! It was a good run!

Well it looks like you won't have to worry about that. This is from a Q&A at Jedi Defender:

Their priority is to build a foundation and work on getting definitive sculpts of the core characters established in the line first. They do not plan to do variants or rereleases of figures. For example: X-Wing Luke. They would not reuse his body to make a Biggs or Wedge because they want each figure to be unique.

To be honest i would be so happy with gi joe in 6 inch but it can wait right now. Star wars, motuc and marvel legends are back on track and its not that these get less expensive either, lol.

This is out of left field but one ambitious custom I always wanted to do was a Billy Dee Williams Two Face.

As most know, he was Harvey Dent in the first Tim Burton Batman. I really wanted to see him play Two Face back in the day, especially after seeing Tommy Lee Jones mess it up by basically copying what Carry did as the Riddler. Both ended up being over the top and just plane annoying, but Riddler had SOME excuse given the character and the actor playing him. But watching the special features for Batman, Billy Dee wanted to do the roll mostly because he knew Dent would eventually become Two Face. It's too bad that never happened.

What the heck does this have to do with 6" Star Wars? Because once they do 6" Lando, my Billy Dee Two Face is half way there!

It's funny you mention this, because I was just watching Episode III on Saturday, and during this scene I was thinking about the first time I saw Episode III in the theater, and how I was expecting something epic to happen to kick the movie off, but instead we got this awkward, surreal scene that didn't really even feel like a continuance of the first two movies...it almost seemed like a knock-off movie or something. The acting was sub-par and the dialogue was awful, even for Star Wars standards.

The worst part of the whole scene is when Anakin cuts the wrist restraints off of Palpatine, and Ian McDiarmid makes these really goofy facial expressions, and over-exaggerates his movements like he's scared and/or in pain when they are cut off. It irritates me to no end how stupid he looks in this scene. @lol@

(lol) Guys, I love these films, but they're not perfect. As great as I think they are, I can admit the flaws. I think George Lucas worked better under pressure and within the limitations and constraints he suffered with the first films.

Also Joe, you mentioned the silly faces Palpatine made...that doesn't bug me nearly as much as him saying "Yeah!!" under his breath when Obi-Wan cut those Super Battle Droids in two. It was a silly nerdy thing for him to do, and out-of-character by the way, even for the "good" Palpatine.

Having said all of this, I'll admit maybe the flaws don't bother me as much as they do other people, because I can usually overlook them, all except for Natalie Portman's stiff acting in Episode I. She got better as the prequels progressed and she matured a little. And that's odd too, because I remember being thrilled she was cast as the "young queen", thinking she was an excellent little actress for her young age in The Professional, seeming wise beyond her years. It didn't show in Episode I though. Is Lucas' dialogue and/or directing to blame? I don't know. But she did get better as time went on. But I digress...

Well whether it's her or more seasoned, proven actors like Neeson, McGreggor, or McDirmond, they can only do so much with the crap they're given.

OK, I'm done now....:)

You know a SW topic is running out of steam when you start bashing the prequels even when the prequils aren't the topic. We're getting 6" figures. Yaaaaay!

Thats the way it goes with anything SW now..."run out of steam?" rescale, repackage, redo, new, new, new!

Anyway..

I still say curb that enthusiasm til we see a Han Solo head sculpt.

And hope it actually looks like Harrison Ford and if they succeed use it to make 6" scale Indiana Jones. Anyway as for Natalie Portman if you see Heat, Revenge of the Sith and even Thor you can see that it's just not the prequels she's kind of a bad actress.

Yeah, so far, Luke's head looks okay, I'm hopping working with Gentle Giants helps them nail the likenesses, The Sandtrooper helmet just looks beautiful, a first for Hasbro, as they never seem to get the stormtrooper helmet right.

This is a really wonderful thing to hear.

Like a lot of people I've been wanting good, articulated 6-inch Star Wras figures for years, and it makes me reallyhappy to see them going after this new line in the right way.

And so far, it looks awesome. Heck I might even buy that Darth Maul.
