That isn't the point. My point is that rather than giving 80s' a modern look, but at the same time stayin with the original outfit (much like the 25th anniversary GI joes are to the RAH line,) it seems that they are also goin with the facial structures and proportions of the old line but with more articulation. The old 80s' face looks constipated and a bit fat because how the old figures were made with rubber heads. I just wished that Mattel did with their the DCSH line and have the fourhorsemen give him a human-like proportions, but at the same time, stayin true to the original outfit and hair.

i see what you're saying... they did say that these would be in scale with DCUC so i couldn't imagine that they'd be too disproportionate.

i'm willing to bet that they'll even re-use existing molds for the MOTU classics line...
i.e.- etrigan - beast man?

I can't say I'm jumping for joy about this, but I am insanely excited. I wouldn't be surprised if the first wave included much of what they pictured in that montage. Heres hoping for Force Captain Adora to make wave 1.
My wish list is

He-Man
Teela/Green Goddess
Hordak
Mer Man
Force Captain Adora
He-Ro

He-Ro and Adora being the only ones not instantly recognizable to general public and both being sought after characters. Fingures crossed !

see every wave will have will have 6 figures and you will get 6 figs of one of the teams above. 6 of one side at once and if they will do some baf they could do a throne for skeletor or i dont know what? i would love that. imagine you could get all the snakemen in one time only

If Mattel looks at the fan interest in their DC line, they'll understand how to package this. DCUC doesn't have any cartoon or movie to support it, only the joy and adoration of the collectors to keep it going so they release figures we'd never think to ask for or figures we'd never expect to see. Think about; Lightray, Batman Beyond, Artemis? Not exactly top tier characters but yet whoever is running this line understands how to mix in the A listers like Wonder Woman with B and C listers like Cyborg ( and Amazo ©.

If they stick to this formula, I think we'll see one or two top tier characters per wave, alongside three or four B/C listers. Start with the big guy, He-Man and include two villains, and three heroes. That's a six figure wave. Pretty good for a case of figures and should allow for even distribution. Each succeeding wave would follow the same format. Wave two could have Skeletor, wave three She-Ra, wave four Hordak, wave five He-Ro and on. And like with DCUC maybe make one villain a big bad for the A list character. I think it would be foolish to drop Skeletor immediately in with the first wave since you're putting all your eggs in one basket. Instead use another villain in his stead like Tri-Clops.

Variants could be another interesting concept, if explored like the DCUC. Each wave would have a variant version of the main character. He-man/Adam (so long as we're not going with Adam is a kid again), then Keldor/Skeletor, Adora/She-RA, 200xHordak/classic Hordak, etc. The classic, or first appearance figures make sense since we've seen it before with ML, and I'd love to get an original looking He-Man or Skeletor but with modern technology.

Overall I think this line will do very well so long as they listen to the fans, and make the figures as diverse as possible.

I'm with you. The 25th Anniversary G.I. Joes are based on the old figures, but they didn't keep the massive heads and thin arms and disproportioned bodies in general just because that was retro and the line's based on that. They took what was cool (characters, costumes, weapons, etc.) and updated. I realize that was done in 2002 with MOTU, but there are lots of different ways to update, and you can remain faithful to the originals without bringing back what was odd or goofy just for nostalgia's sake.

I think it mainly didn't go anywhere 'cause Mattel didn't do any real advertising. Not to mention only selling figures of two characters and making everyone else hard to find is not the best way to sell anything to kids

I'm really excited about this line. I liked the 2002 series but I never could really get into the toys since they were a pain to find. (My Wal-Mart had plenty of early wave He-Man and Skeletor figures clogging the shelves keeping out fresh stock. The only figure I got in the entire 02 line was the '+' variant He-Man). I am really happy what I saw on that pic of possibilities coming down the line, especially He-Ro and the infamous "Wonderbread" He-Man. However, I would also like to see a Classics Battle Cat to go with a Classics He-Man.

I've been a lurker on these forums for a while... only just found out today about the new He-Man line... serves me right for not visiting he-man.org for a while... have been far too focussed on the new Marvel Legends..

But wow... I am totally over the moon... which i'm sure will subside to 'cautious optimism' shortly... but the signs and words coming from Mattel is music to my ears

I remember a few years back, on he-man.org, mattel did some consultation with fans... so I sat down and wrote a very detailed (and polite and honest) critique of the 2002 Masters line, from my perspective as a long-time fan who grew up with the original series...

I highlighted the poor articulation - esp compared to Marvel legends, which at the time, some had 40poa... where as MoTU only had 6-8... I also highlighted the case ratios being a problem, and that there were lotsa longtime fans such as myself out there that loved the original series, and now are in their 20's / 30's or so, and in a lot of cases have the disposable income to spend on this line... and that I didn't want 13 diff types of He-Man, but i DID want 13 diff villians for him to fight... and 13 heroes to help... etc, etc... I championed the cause of some of the obscure characters as equally as the main ones... as the obscure characters help embellish and add colour to the He-man 'universe'

...so yeah, i'm certainly NOT taking credit for this, that would be foolish... and i'm not making it up... what would that get me / why bother..? but I feel like Mattel listened to the fans... of which I am merely one... and that is THE BEST NEWS... a company that listens to its customers needs and wants, that tries to understand its customers / get inside their heads and understand their motivations and dreams... is a SMART one, and is likely to do well

the fact they are making it for the collectors FIRST and the kiddies second is great (well, in my opinion)... cos we are the ones with the money... and a lot of us have kids and would love to share our childhood MoTU joys with our own young-uns...

so praise be to Mattel for listening... keep ya ears open Mattel-dudes, and us collectors need to remain duty-bound to be open, honest and real in our comments / suggestions / input.... so they can make the right decision for them, and us...

I'm really excited that Mattel is willing to give the Masters line another try.
Since this new line will cover the entire spectrum of the He-Man mythos, I hope there will be a Count Marzo Evilseed along the way.
I loved the way these characters were portrayed in the 2002 cartoon. I would also like to see that demon looking warlord from the Great Unrest, I don't know his name though.

What....no love for the Sorceress? She is my favorite character other than He-man. I really want to see her released in her classic white abd blue feathers and the modern egyptian version since all we got is a statue.

I agree completely. I love the idea of this line. And honestly I wouldn't mind if the Tytus and Megator were BAF's because I'm going to buy basically all of the figures anyway.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but to my understanding the deal that has been worked out to produce these toys excluded any characters that were only developed for the original He-Man TV show but opens up toy production to all characters that have been previously made into toys, shown in comics, shown in the mini comics that came with the original figures, or in the old He-Man movie right? I may be totally wrong on this but that's what I've heard so far.

i cleaned my figs and i cant seperate me from them and i was thinking about the new line and i realy dont wanna buy a hordak in a blue costume. the details where bad back in the 80s and static was fantastic for the different sculpts and design of the different figures. i dont realy want that they look all with the same body sculpts. time that san diego comes because i realy wanna see what they do with the villains and other masters.

No Filmation characters that only appeared in the original cartoon was how I understood it. Guys like Lizard Man and Fang Man are off limits, but Count Marzo and Evil Seed are doable because they also appeared in the 200X cartoon.
