You know people go nuts because Disney now owns this but they did a hell of a job on the current marvel movies...and I say that as a DC fan

Did Disney really do anything buytaquire and let the money roll in? I stil say Marvel's Avengers success is all thanks to Robert Downey Jr and Jon Favreau.

Y'know, I've been thinking about this for the last couple of days and I still am not really sure how I fell. So Disney's going to put out new movies, ok that was bound to happen. Once Lucas died and his kids got a hold of it every studio in the world would have been at their door, so maybe this was a preemtive move on his part. I think it could go either way for TV. Disney has a lot of resources and I think we should count on seeing more SW tv series sooner rather than later. No idea how thi swill work out for the books and I really haven't read many of them in the last five+ years/. Now Comics, this is where I see SW getting crapped on. Dark Horse WILL lose the license as soon as their deal expires and Diseny will ship it over to Marvel and while I'm sure Marvel will treat it nicely in the beginning, that won't last. First there will be a complete reboot with top Marvel talent doing the writing and art. Then after a year or two it will be the little thing that Marvel just sort of ramps up on everytime a new movie comes out (just look at anything outside there superhero stuff or Icon, which it just there to appease some of their top writing talent from doing indie work elsewhere).

I do think that no matter what the movies will be panned by a great deal of the SW fanbase. Because much like the prequels, we've had too much time to over think what a good SW movie should be.

Yeah, I don't think Disney really had much say in most of it. After all the tentitive plans started before the Disney buy, with most of the "brain trust" already in place.

What I want to know is, will the new movies follow any of the hundreds of stories and chracters already written, for example Grand Admiral Thrawn or Jaina Solo? What about the Clone Emperor storyline?

Or will It null and void all literature and make up its own canon??

Plus, how far into the future will it be set?? Far enough so the OT actors can reprise their roles??

Would you want to go that far? Who could you see playing slightly older Luke, Leia, and Han??

Lucas met w/ Hamill & Fisher a year or so ago, rumors are for them to reprise their roles? Ford would be the toughest one, imo; did he even attend any of the Special Edition reunion/premieres?

I am not sure if they can make a Star Wars movie based on the Zahn trilogy.I would love to see it though.I would mind a Shadows Of the Empire movie.I too am perplexed about the Disney Lucasfilm deal.I guess we see what happens.

I just though of a convoluted way that the post RotJ EU could be erased from cannon but still remain cannon. If in a book or comic, set after the Legacy comics, Cade (or someone) flow-walked or something and actually changed the past resulting in the sequel trilogy.

Well for arguments sake, say the big 3 reprise their roles, they're too old to be galavanting throughout the galaxy!! The story should focus on the next generation, the kids or grandkids even!! They are that old!!

What roles will they play though?? Leia is president of the Senate? Han general of the army? Luke Jedi Master training the new Jedi? Lando President of the Trade Guild? Chewie member of the Senate?

What about the kids or grandkids?? What actors could be the offspring of Han Solo and Leia? Please don't say Shia!! >_<

I think people need to take a deep breath when it comes to all the "cannon" talk and whether stories they like will be erased. Truthfully, if everthing flowed together in the same continuity just perfectly, I'd be really suprised. When Disney goes to make these new movies, they're likely going to want to make them accessable to a mass audience, not just everyone who read every Dark Horse comic. The older and more storied a franchise gets, the tougher it's going to be to keep everything connected to everything that happened before...ESPECIALLY when you're talking cross-media (movies, TV, comics, novels) which I would guess would be near impossible. Look at Star Trek, look at ALL superhero properties...

And about superheroes, I could have a really great Captan America hardcover sitting on my bookshelf and then have the Captain America movie in my DVD collection. The two aren't in continuity with each other. Things happened in one that didn't happen in the other, but they're still both good Cap stories. THAT'S what matters. I don't see how that needs to be different with Star Wars. If some continuity about Grand Admiral Thrawn doesn't make it into the Disney movie, that doesn't "erase" the story you read. You still own it, you can still go back and read it and enjoy it. (Sorry, but it's always bugged me when people cry, "cannon", "cannon", "CANNON!!!" too often. With SW or anything.) Do I think it's NICE to keep everyting in line and in continuity with everything else, sure! But like I say, the older something gets, the less likely it will happen. To me what matters is the story in front of you. Is it good? If so, then you'll be fine.

As much as I would like them to eat crow and recognize that it happened, it probably wouldnt be much fun to watch anymore after an official release. Hunting that bootleg VHS down in the mid 80s was an epic nerd rite of passage. I recently transfered my copy to dvd for preservations sake, and I watch it every year...Nov 17th is always Life Day at my house.

Bea Arthur's number is the best part to me...Harvey Korman in three terribly unfunny roles on the other hand...ouch.

PS...Chewie is alive in internet trend...http://www.cracked.c...ion-propaganda/
