dude, thanks for those comparison pics! i've yet to see any and i'm a little taken back by the actual size. i knew they were smaller than the others, but to see that He-Man is actually taller than Prowl is shocking. they are still badass though :D

Right now I want to see after Ultra Magnus more Decepitcons. They need to take a little break from Autobots and give us Decepitcons. Astrotrain,Thurst,Galvatron,Dead End,Drag Strip and others.

1st time ordering from Nippon-Yasan.com aka NY, using their pay later option for 129.59, 30 EMS shipping = 160 to NYC. Hopefully their customer service is good and no issue with the transaction like I had with RK. Can't wait to have MP22 from NY. Since I ordered from them guess there will be no Coin or even Amazon Exclusive if MP22 has them.

So after Bumblebee who do you want?

Not sure I'll get him but I want a resized Megatron so bad. If not him, Shockwave.

i'd love to see Mirage, shockwave, and jazz. i think jazz will be the most likely candidate though.

Since Shogo Hasui has been moved off Masterpiece to go make movie toys and Hironori Kobayashi is back on MP, I kinda hope we can take a break from all the cars we've been getting, and Kobayashi can do some other types of things, like Galvatron, Blitzwing, Shrapnel or even Inferno. Seems like the guy who made MP Starscream, Rodimus Prime and Grimlock might be suited to some other types of things besides cars, and I'd like the break, much as I want Jazz eventually.

Interesting ... I don't suppose someone could post a list of who has designed what ?..

Basically it's this:

MP-1 to MP-9: Kobayashi

MP-10 to MP-22: Hasui

MP-23 to ???: Kobayashi

from tfwiki: (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers:_Masterpiece)

Hironori Kobayashi was the designer on the first nine Masterpieces that Takara/TakaraTomy released, from MP-01 Convoy/20th Anniversary Optimus Prime to MP-09 Rodimus Convoy. Shogo Hasui took over the reigns from MP-10 Convoy up to 2014, when it was reported[1] that Kobayashi would retake the design role that year.

Masterpiece Star Saber was designed by Hisashi Yuki in order for the other Masterpieces to be released on schedule.

I don't recall, but are the designers also responsible what gets made? To clarify, are they the ones who decide who gets designed. If not, the characters getting made wouldn't be affected for the most part, though I am sure a few of the MP figures that were created and released because they were pushed by whoever designed them.

I remember reading an article for the guy who did ultra magnus & he was talking about what a big fan he was of UM & the autobot cars ... I simply thought it was nice having someone who was a fan as a kid working on the same type of toys as an adult. I can see them being given a list of names to choose from but I can't honestly see them having a lot of control in who gets made ... I can't see a company going out of there way to get approval from a car company for example to make said toy just because the designer wants it for example. It is japan though maybe things work different for the workers than they do here ?.. shrug ...

Apparently Hasui had issued making the Armor UM to work due to cost and ease of transformation so he handled it to Kobayashi to take over MP22.

Deruji of TFW2005.com for the translation regarding MP21 Bumblebee and MP22 Ultra Magnus:

Kobayashi: MP-03 Starscream became the preparation for deciding Rodimus' size, but also due to there being Masterpiece King Ex-Kaiser.

We considered his great transformation and that he was smaller than MP1 and thought it was a good balance to have that kind of size. So those after Rodimus should inherit that basic size feeling.

Hasui: Because we planned on including MP10's trailer, we were aware of the question of what kind of car robot size should be able to go in. Because it's Convoy after all, there should exist some car robots with that size.

Q: It was thought that the way to go for the formal license for Lambor should be like Binaltech.

Kobayashi: Binaltech transforms from real cars but the actual way of thinking was different.

Hasui: The differences of their approach came not just from our ideas but also through the differences in our environment and the period of time we were in. Until I made the 2007 movie figures, no real car transformers were being made. (can't read the last part with about Binaltech)

Q: Speaking of that, how was it with Bumble's car mode? Up to that point it was thought that he was a character that didn't get along with that kind of logic.

Hasui: I had wanted to do the deformed version but it might have complicated the negotiations with the licensor. It's a robot that transforms itself into a "Wagen", not having it be a "Volkswagen" was unknown territory. We didn't know if he would be accepted if he were deformed or not. It was a possibillity of losing that long awaited chance. So it became an achievement to make a robot that transforms from a delicate "Wagen".

Q: Because of that, the scale of the car mode was adjusted, right?

Hasui: Because of this next task, the team was really divided into two opinions. There was also the opinion that because it's a real car, it should scale with Lambor and the others. But I thought that because it's Bumble "If he is not small, then it is not Bumble". Because the smaller size wouldn't change the amount of parts, it was decided to keep him small

Q: About the Masterpiece that succeeds those - The hoped for Ultra Magnus

Kobayashi: It came to be that I took over mid-way, because Hasui couldn't make a figure that turned into an internal MP-10. (Note: Not clear if Hasui's ability is meant or the opportunity, you have to read the rest of the interview to understand this part better)

Hasui: Beyond continuing car robots, I thought there was another goal. Magnus and the car robots had a similar relation as Soundwave and the Cassettetrons. That's why I thought that Magnus should be able to hold up to 4 cars. That's why I handed it over.

Kobayashi: Upon taking over, I examined if it should be a transformation like the animation or with an internal MP-10. I thought about the value it would have if it were like the toy version, it would have been enjoyable with an internal toy. But that was only half of it, Magnus had the misfortune of not having a toy with the animation transformation. And there were fans that liked the animation Magnus with an all-in-one transformation. No matter how we thought, there were two versions.

Hasui: For myself, I imagined both. That there would be armor but that the trailer would have a one-piece transformation, that it could change into all. I had that idea, but there were several cost factors and the ease of transformation to consider, so we settled for the current figure.

Kobayashi: The last decisive blow was to keep the costs low. Our idea was to keep the costs low, so that more people could have the figure.

Q: How do you feel about the Masterpieces from now on?

Hasui: From my current standpoint, the Cybertron side has a considerable army and I would like to increase the Destron side.

I'd like to see more animated movie characters, like Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge. I'd settle for just Galvatron at this point though...

I don't like that Ultra Magnus. I don't like the empty space on the legs. What's wrong with some armor for MP-10? This is the first Masterpiece figure I'm passing on and I don't regret it one bit.
