Shocker ships last year's Convention Exclusives!

What is their damage? Why can't these be available? I really want a Tick figure, but dont want to wait 6 months after I pay to get it. If only these were actually availble, more people would feel confident enough to buy em. Feels like all the money for these is going up someones nose...

Apparently their original shipment of the con exclusives and series 2 got destroyed when it entered US customs. Then they had to make another run of figures and now they're supposed to be on the way here. I'm guessing that ShockerToys is using a 500 year old Spanish galleon and it's taking about a year to arrive on the west coast of the United States.

Spanish galleon? I assumed there were putting them on rafts from china and were "hoping for the best"

Man, customs has "destroyed" more shocker toys than any other company I have ever heard of...lol. I mean when the horsemen dont ship or delay their figs they give us a straight answer, I appreciate that. I mean Shcoker is even making Sota look good, and anyone that collected those old Sota Street fighter figs knows what I mean.

Well, I did get my stocking stuffer figures from Shocker toys last week (Tick, Mucus Tick, SDCC Dick Tracy, and a Kabuki). The Tick is nice, but only his face has paint applications (which look pretty good). The plastic is very flat, and the shoulder joints and hip joints are of a slightly darker plastic than the rest of the figure. The Mucus Tick broke out of the package at the waist and left elbow (I think it's the clear plastic the pegs were made out of). I need to contact them about that. Other than that, I'd like to see them get that SDCC Grendel so that I can purchase it.

Actually I don't. SOTA has been the best toy company to do business with in all my figure collecting life. It wasn't until the management change that SOTA ran to downfall.

I agree with Card. Even before Sota changed management, their excuses were just as bad. I remember ordering the Ryu and Bision two pack, but was "delayed" because the freighter that had the figs were destroyed. I They also blamed a lot of their problems on China, much like Shocker - this was when Jerry was President. I think the management change was their way in shifting the blame.

Jerry was the master of spin when he was incharged of SOTA.

If it wasn't China's fault, it is Capcom's fault. If it wasn't Capcom's fault, it is the new SOTA management's fault. I loved how he made the some SF fans turn on High Dreams by claimming that his toys are ferraris and high dreams were regular cars or something. He later changed his opinion when new SOTA took over by saying that both toylines were equal or something. Classic.

When new SOTA took over, I don't think they used excuses, but they did have their own share of delays

I think round 1, round 3 and 4 of the SOTA figs were delayed. I remember the line had lots of delays, but unlike Shocker, they offered the figures eventually

Its a numbers scam. If I get 5000 chumps to front me $40 for a figure it costs me $2 to make, and then sit on that $200K for a year while it accrues interest or sink into the stock market or whatever then I'm sittin' on easy street while I offer heartfelt apologies why I haven't made the figures.

"Oh, dingos ate the first shipment. Sorry."

"Oh geez, a freak tidal wave sunk the second shipment. Sorry."

"Ohmigosh, the third shipment was destroyed in customs! Not our fault!"

"Holy crap, the factory making the fourth shipment burned down! So sad!"

"You are NOT gonna believe this! The fifth shipment was bombarded with radiation and actually came to life! And started a little action figure colony in the middle of the earth! So strange!"

"But the sixth shipment. That's the one! We'll be getting those in just a few da--hold on, I have to answer the phone--"

This Geoff bozo is a shyster who bilked everybody out of their money to use at his liesure. There was never any 'first shipment' destroyed in customs. He probably hasn't even secured a factory in China. And he may never. After he's banked the interest from all the money he was given, he can refund the original buyers without having produced so much as a fart, and then use that money to fund his next get rich quick scam. Has anybody reported this douche to the feds?

I think his plan backfired when the economy went to sh.t...

I would never trust a company where they take your money FIRST and never guarantee that their product is coming out. Its always been pay and then get or pay once available(pre-order). I also hear that shockers stuff is made supremely cheap and tend to break easily... even if i wanted those characters(which i do for scud) I won't even risk giving them any of my money.

As for the SOTA business, Im with Cloud, I had a superb time with them compared to any other figure company. Yes they did have delays back in the day, and yeah it sucked but they eventually came out and usually a few months after their original release. They also didn't take your money until the figures were shipped and available. The later series' were much more delayed but it did seem they were having some rocky troubles. I remember when I had a problem with my Dan figure where his belt and ponytail fell off right out of the box and I contacted Jerry and he told me to send it back and he'll replace it. Well instead of just replacing it, he included 2 other SF figs both variant, one happened to be cannon spike cammy which is one i never got. I just thought that was really nice to go that extra mile, especially in their worst days.

I got my refund from Shocker Toys. It's a lot better to ask them for a refund than it is to complain and do nothing. Even though they were honest, those bums will never again see any business from me.

The sad thing for Shocker Toys is, had I not had to pay up front, I never would have canceled my pre-order.

Were shockers toys only available through their website or did other e-tailers have them available for pre-order? I would've risked it there rather than from the source, especially since their reputation is so horrible. At least the other e-tailers would give you a refund.

It's not that bad. Shocker Toys are slow in production but the Tick and the Mucus Tick exclusive have been made and shipped. It took them a while but my Tick order has been this this month. With the customs no. I was able to keep track of my shipment and it is indeed slow.

As for SOTA and for small companies in general. It's not easy to find a good factory that you can trust. I remember Jerry saying they were switching to a new factory after Round 4 and the factory end up holding their molds and released pirate versions of the harder to find Round 1 figures like Sagat, Bison, Ryu,etc. Bootleg version of Evil Ryu have surfaced as well.

I do believe SOTA because they were honest and really helpful. With all the broken figures, all you have to do is email them a pic to prove your figure is broken and they will ship you a replacement. I have yet to see another company that responsible. Jerry still shows up over Fwoosh and used to hang out at the now shut down Action-figures.com (?). He does sound like he had a bad experience with making action figures. After new SOTA lost the Street Fighter license to NECA, Jerry tried to complete people's collection by making stractions(non articulated plastic statues) in 6" scale. When asked, he just said it's not worth the trouble to get into action figures again even if he has the chance.

man that really is a shame, I really loved SOTA but im not a big fan of statues or staction figures all that much. And whats crazy is my sota SF collection is one of my favorite collections i own. I will never part with them. And I ve only had good things with SOTA and how they handled things. They may have taken a while to get out sometimes but they certainly were worth it with their quality. I always trusted them and had every round on pre order when they were announced.

  • 3 weeks later...

Everything is working out for the best right now. I used my refund to help purchase a complete Fortress Maximus. And just today, I found a superior version of Shocker Toys' The Tick, at BBTS. It comes with accessories from the first issue of The Tick comic book.

I think I've heard there's a "complete" version of The Tick figure that comes with all his accessories that would be spread out with the series2 figures.

The Tick only comes with a stop sign. Not even a spoon. Need to customize my own spoon....
