  1. Oh, it certainly has a chance, a pretty good one in fact. Matty has never hit their quota for the DC sub, why should it be different for 2014? It manages to "clear the hurdle" every time. I just think this year it's going to be harder to convince people that the thermometer moved up 61% without sounding like total bullshitters, and still insisting it's not a, "scare tactic". Good luck with that.
  2. Yeah, maybe it is time for this sub thing to die already, it's starting to look embarrassing. I don't think this Damian reveal is getting the kind of feedback that Matty wants. I mean, everyone kind of assumed he was going to be in 2014, but now it's gospel. It looks like the Batman beyond figure is a shoo-in now too. Did Matty have any other also-rans for retail that they can throw in there? I really believe this is exactly why they DON'T announce the line-up in advance. It makes it too easy to say,"There's like 1 or 2 figures I want out of 12. I'll just take my chances on DOS, e-bay or BBTS. Problem solved." It has nothing to do with the Legal dept, it's that they know that their less than stellar charactor choices will probably do more harm then good. Oh well, I guess we'll know Tuesday if this choice was the right one.
  3. It's been a while since I last posted here, but I have to say, I was wrong. When I first heard that Mattel was making '66 Batman figures I thought that they would ONLY be doing charactors from the movie. Well, I was wrong, and glad that I was. I don't know how deep in the well that Matty's going to go with the selection, but Figures Inc. looks like they're in it for the long haul, and good for us. Egghead, Bookworm, Mr. Freeze, Shame... they all seem like potential figures at this point, and that's pretty boss. So please allow me to apologize for my previous statements. Again, I was wrong, and again, good for us.
  4. Of course they're going to spin it, it's what they do. Why would anybody listen to "Pixel Dan" to find out if a MATTEL product is any good, he gets them for free, what's he going to say? "This sucks"? Hell no. He's not going to stop that gravy train. That goes for all the others too. I wouldn't take ANYBODY'S word on something that they got for free. Or if they're "buddies" with the people that make them. Things like that tend to make you pretty bias. And you're right, nothing is going to fix it. Make the drawbridge lower and it will still be wrong. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. How is seeing it in person going to be different? That excuse always makes me laugh. If it's wrong, it's wrong, period. Well, if the canceled pre-orders are in the minimum, then I guess they have nothing to worry about. Not really true. If dan doesn't like something than he says it in his reviews. Sure he chooses his words kindly and doesn't use the S or F word because a lot of kids watch these reviews too. I love that he is a little bit more professional about it. Poison ivy for example wasn't really on his favorite list. Eamon on the podcast wasn't really happy about it either and said that he is dissapointed. I know a lot are dissapointed with it but it isn't the end of the world either. If the jawbridge is fixed then i am good with it. I hear what you're saying bro. I wouldn't expect him to froth at the mouth, use profanity or anything like that to get his point across. But the fact of the matter is, that if he gets the product that he's reviewing for free, is he really going to go out on a limb? Doubtful. I just wouldn't trust his or anyone's opinion on anything they said if they're in bed (in anyway) with the people (or company) that makes said product, good or bad. Pay for it. and then tell me what you think. Odds are, if he didn't like something, he might be a little more than disappointed. And if people are happy with the castle as is, and they feel like they're getting their money's worth, then more power to them. I just feel Matty shouldn't pull out their shills when they make mistakes. It's cheap.

  6. Neitlich always said if Mattel were to make a CG, they would "do it right"... Meaning, a real play set with 2 halves, floors, accessories, etc. Ultimately, the only way we were going to get one is if it were done the way Toyguru wanted it. Even though 90% of the fan base was very vocal about just wanting a facade... which is exactly what the COP is. The irony is if they had just made it like the Sectaurs Hyve... it would have been bigger, cheaper to make, have more playability, and MAYBE be priced lower. Oh, I guess that makes sense, or it would if the damn thing was in scale. I also guess it's just a bone of contention with me when it comes to scale. Nothing bothers me more when I see things like this. It's like when you see those "Christmas in the city" type displays and the people are too big to even be able to fit in the doorway. Why include the people at all if it's not going to be right? But in those instances, the people who work on those at least have an excuse for stupidity, the CITC pieces are really not meant to be played with, and you don't HAVE to include the people with the set. This castle just takes the cake though. Mattel and the 4H are supposed to be the "experts" on this sort of thing, and they drop the ball? Inexcusable, to say the least. Then they want people to pony up 3 bills for it? Because it's "Castle freakin Greyskull" ? Baloney, that playset is a $35 item at Target, tops. The front piece (that everyone sees by the way) doesn't even look scary or intimidating, it almost looks like a theme restaurant. And what good are all "the bells and whistles" inside when the figures don't fit? No, this junk deserves to die a quick death. Maybe the canceled pre-orders will see to that. It's time to show Mattel that not every collector will just "settle".
  7. The Batusi figure is based off the first episode of the series. The Surfer-Bat 2-pk. is based off an episode from the last season (the Batgirl season). I don't think they're limiting themselves to the movie so much as, like the movie, they're concentrating on the big guns from the show. All we can do is hope that Batgirl, Gordon, O'Hara, and maybe Shame are waiting in the wings. That's just it. It doesn't matter which episodes they're from, they're still variants. The Bat-tusi Batman is just the Adam West figure with different hands ( which they'll probably change so they can make one holding the bomb, which is also from the movie ), the surfer 2-pack is just B&J with bathing suits and surfboards. Really not any different from multi-colored Batman from any movie line. And Mattel IS limited in what it can do. They can't just make any figures they want, they can only make what they're allowed, and I think that's just the charactors from the movie. Gordon and O'Hara I can see, maybe BG in a separate deal, maybe. Shame, I doubt it. Again, maybe I'm wrong. I just wouldn't get my hopes up.
  8. Wow, the differences between those two castles is night and day. Mattel and the 4H should be embarrassed to be pwned so hard. I never understood situations like this. Why not just buy this guy's design and manufacture it? Even if there's no bells and whistles inside, who cares? The one they're selling is just a display piece anyway. I really don't see too many kids putting this on their Christmas list, not for 3 bills. They could've just scanned it, printed it up in 3D, threw some paint on it, and then opened the pre-orders. They would have had to turn people away. Fish in a barrel. Who wouldn't rather have that? And it's half the price, no? Instead they go through all of this crap just like the hoverboard and end up looking like idiots....again. Unbelievable.
  9. That is really nice....
  10. I don't know, this is just a theory, but is it possible that they're only merchandising product from the 1966 Batman movie? So far all that's been shown is B&R, Joker, Penguin and Riddler. all of them were in that film. The surfing and Bat-tusi versions could be considered variants of existing characters. They've only shown two Catwoman figures. One was a Barbie with the classic head (no likeness worries there), and the other was a bobblehead and it was clearly Lee M. and not Julie N. (they both wear the same costume, so maybe they figure no one will notice?). As far as Batgirl, the only thing I've seen so far is a Halloween suit, and that could be a separate deal of some sort, who knows? It's only the costume, so they wouldn't have to be concerned about dealing with Yvonne C. I guess my point is, I think people hoping for more villains (and Batgirl), and waiting for the show to be released on DVD/Blu-ray are setting themselves up for disappointment. The reason the show hasn't been put out yet is because of the legal mine field it would take to do it, so maybe the powers that be thought, "Hey, why not just come out with stuff from the movie? Most of the cast is in it, as well as the big name villains! BRILLIANT!" . I don't know about anyone else, but I could TOTALLY see that happening. Why not, right? I might be wrong, but I really don't think I am. Food for thought.
  11. The only response needed is the .org. The Toy Bastard may have been behind the banishment. You're trying real had to come up with a nickname for Neitlich that will stick aren't you? Keep at it bro, I'm sure you'll get one that we'll all love. If you're trying to come up with a new name, why work with "Toy Guru"? The way he was trolling for He-Man subscriptions, why not just call him, Begg-or? Oh, and the DC thermometer was totally rigged..
  12. I just joined up and I thought I would start with a custom I put together a few years back of a 1939 Bat-Man. It's done in Mego scale (8''). The head: This was made by shrinking the head from the Masterpiece edition figure. It was then resculpted and painted by Laurie Halbritter( she does great work ). Body/costume: I used a Mego Body for the base with a pair of Doc Mego hands, which I painted purple. The costume is a Mego Batman suit, Mego boots, and the belt is from a 1989 Bikin Batman figure. The emblem was modified from a scrapbooking set, and the cape is homemade. This is the completed figure: I hope to be able to show more in the future.
