  1. I love customising gunships. I'm up to ten now. With this one, I wanted to go in a slightly different direction. I like taking my figures out to parks and such for toy pics, but there's not too much background sandscapes or in scale cityscapes. There's quite a lot of green areas though, so I decided to give camo a try after getting a few Kashyyyk troops. I started with a cheap crumb bomber, added the cockpit cover from a command gunship I had spare, 3d printed gatling guns/ under and over wing missiles, and repainted an AT-RT to match. I made stencils for all the patches and used three different colours to spray them. I got some repro stickers from eBay to apply. Lastly, I scratched a few wear marks to match the canopy with a knife. The effect in person is really nice. Pretty happy with the result. Looking forward to taking it out in location as soon as possible.
  2. This took a year as I made it between other projects. It's kind of an amalgam of all the Gorax's from different media that I could find, including stills from Caravan of Courage, Forces of Destiny and fan art. The base body is the old Toybiz movie 18" Spiderman. I sculpted all the parts, cut the ears and feet out of ABS sheet, used taxidermy eyes and rooted dolls hair. The bodysuit was hand made. The finger and toenails are plastic nail extensions. I sculpted the chest, shoulders and biceps, but then decided to cover the entire body with the soft goods, so you can only see them in the WIP pics. Since these pics, I've added an ear ring and some more details to the sling. I think it turned out ok.
  3. Nice! I wish they incorporated these into the line rather than Sunman.
  4. I got this husk super cheap as I just needed the doors. Initially I was just going to paint it up as a crashed gunship diorama piece, but then I got a mini airbrush and decided to test it out. I used a mushroom tray for the floor, cargo doors and wing panels. The door activation button was snapped off, so I replaced it with a flat topped gun that works perfectly. I scratch built the canopy from a piece of ABS sheet that I heated with a blowtorch to bend and fit, added catches, then dressed with crap from my bits box and some more mushroom tray. I used oil drums from Marauder gunrunners to replace the large guns. The chin and tail guns were 3d printed. I repainted a TFA Speeder as an accompanying vehicle. I took it apart and added hooks that attach it to the side door of the gunship. The decal are from bad mother tattoos on eBay. The rest was sprayed with various aerosols. I used Tamiya clear red for the screen. There's a 3 man crew of pirates/ bounty hunters to go with it - a Trandoshan, an IG droid and a Cephalapoidian. I'm really happy with my first project with the mini airbrush. I totally recommend them.
  5. I realised buying a Clone Wars command Gunship these days really wasn't good idea when for some reason Crumb Bombers in England can be had pretty cheap. I got a 90% complete one that was yellowed on one side (must have been on a window shelf) and decided to paint it. It took it all apart, scrubbed it in the shower and sprayed it. I masked up and sprayed the grey parts and hand painted the turquoise parts. I added the scorch marks with an airbrush. I got replacement stickers from eBay and the decals from Bad Mother Tattoos. He was super cool and made up the droid kill markings at my request. The Gatling guns were from yavin.34k on eBay. The hardest part was masking the cockpit glass. It was only after spraying it that I realised it has blue tinted glass. That's pretty sweet, if you ask me. Anyway, super happy with the results.
  6. The shipping killed it for me. $90 for a single figure? Yeah, nah. Might get one through bbts now.
  7. Thanks dudes. I couldn't upload all the pics because some were too big, but you can see them on my FB page IDH custom toys.
  8. TIE Striders are seige mechs dropped from Imperial gunships to bring swift victories in fortified infantry campaigns. With a full running speed of 60mph, coupled with a short range jump/ boost ability, the Striders can jump high blockades and destroy anything within. The weapon shield can be fitted with any configuration of armament, from flame throwers to proton torpedo launchers. The Storm Wraith pilots are physically and mentally augmented troopers. They can control the mechs remotely via brain chips, and their cloaking armour allows them to eliminate high value targets with minimal effort. Made this from a broken Halo Mantis Mech and a TIE striker body I got from eBay for £1.50. I cut out the body mount and screwed/ glued/ moulded it in place so the joint is bomb proof. Tinted the screen red, and screwed the lower fuselage section to the right arm to act as a shield/ heavy weapons arms. I kept the NERF firer because I like that kind of thing
  9. Had an idea to make a glider for Peely. I originally just wanted him to surf on a rocket powered banana, but couldn't find anything that looked right in my bits box. I did find a smashed F.A.N.G. though! The banana is just a piece of fake fruit from ebay. I cut out sections, dremel led off large chunks of the fang, took the seat out, and drilled a few holes to allow multiple back blings to be plugged in. I sprayed it with white plastic primer, painted it with a yellow mix, then washed it with contrast paint. I detailed it with a slight brown overspray. The final detail was the nana nana sticker from one of the vending machines. I drilled a last hole in the cockpit to plug the harvesting tool in so that it doubles as a throttle.
  10. Had this idea in my head for a while, but finding a spare Skull trooper in England these days was harder than anticipated. It's just Peely with his lower arms and legs swapped out with Skull trooper's, then sprayed black. I copied and hand painted the glyphs from Kevin the Cube, then painted them and his eyes with gloss sealer. Back Bling is Lil' Kev. Rocket launcher is from the Supply crate.
