SIDESHOW Announces G.I. Joe License!!!

Hasbro gave up on their 12'' Star Wars figures and I believe sub-contracted the 12'' figures to Sideshow...that relationship has been VERY successful as virtually almost every SW figure Sideshow makes sells out.

I've been in the 12'' collecting realm for a while now (since Hot Toys' AVP Predators first were shown...that sparked my interest) and I still collect the GI Joe 25th stuff...but this is definitely EXCELLENT news as it combines my old (yet still much loved) collectibles with my new ones.

Woohoo! 12'' Joes perhaps? Premium format Cobra Commander...oh man the list goes on!!!

WOW 12" Joes by sideshow AND Nightcreeper appears. Amazing. I'm pretty psyched about this. Thanks to Brent I have a nice Medicom Star Wars collection and a Hot Toys Aliens collection. I'm not a big fan of Sideshow, but if they pull this off right, I'll be behind them 100%. Need to go change my pants now.

Wow. These should be cool . . . and expensive.

They'll be around $55. Not bad considering the really good 1/6 (Hot Toys and Medicom) go for about $150-$200. I'd much rather Hot Toys get the license though . . . more expensive, but I'd rather get Joes from a company that produces this:

Yeah, that price is doable. When I first saw the commercial I thought these were the $200 figures - forget that! $55, I can probably do, within reason (ie: don't release too many too soon, please!).

What a weird, unexpected, surreal, and formerly impossible Joe fan's dream. I would never have guessed in a million years Hasbro would allow a high-end company like Sideshow produce 12-inch Joes and Cobras. Incredible. And exciting!! (lol) Unbelieveable...

IF we are going to get 12inch figs from someone other than Hasbro, I would have preferred Dragon to Sideshow.

The over painting and Mardi Gras sized heads on Sideshow figures has always been a turn off for me. Their uniforms are adequate, but the head sculpts and hands are almost always a MISS instead of a hit.

And according to reports, Sideshow is not going to be in attendance in person at Toy Fair, they are going to be doing Web updates the week of Toy Fair instead.

EDIT: Full Toy Fair Coverage from Hasbro to Sideshow will be available on TNI starting on Feb 16, just like every year.
