  1. Oh is that the line they're going with? Sorry, I know I'm not in business or licensing but it seems crazy that they are allowed to make him in large scale but not in small. My tendency is to think they're holding out, getting as much money as they can out of the video game version before giving people the version they're really going to want. Kind of the same way Mattel played it with the Doomsday. Anyway, nice job on the custom. This is one figure I've wanted for a long time. It's not a line. As Jay said, licenses are broken up like that all the time. Mattel is the master license holder right now. They have the license for the 6" stuff. DC Collectibles also has their 6.75"-7" figures. NECA is only allowed to do 18" DC stuff. This is the ONE exception, because Randy Falk was able to figure out a loophole with the video game deco.

The only way they could do it is to paint it in the old NES video game colors. I decided to change it and repaint the entire thing to look like the movie. This involved taking apart the entire figure, including removing the head from inside the cowl (yes there's a full Michael Keaton face under there). All the pieces were prepped, and then painted. I even put detailing in the face, including the black makeup around the eyes. For the cape, I dediced to do something extra. I took some black rayon material, and used a movie accurate cape pattern to make it. I then made a second cape, and added some wires running through the top for Batman to hold in his hands outstretched to mimic when he first appears in the movie. And now this custom Batman 1989 action figure is ready to take down the criminals of Gotham City! Thanks for looking!

I couldn't let that stand, so here I bring you Ra's Al Ghul in full League of Shadows ninja gear! Ra's al Ghul was made using a Star Wars the Black Series Episode 3 Obi-Wan Kenobi, the head from a Movie Masters Ra's Al Ghul, and the forearms from a Movie Masters Batman Begins Batman. I fused the Batman Begins forearms to Ra's arm, and used Aves Apoxie Sculpt to blend it in and fill in the gaps. I also added plating to the back of the hands (including the rivets!) with styrene. I replaced the lower cloak with fabric. The belt is made using strip styrene, with the belt buckle being fodder that happened to be perfectly movie accurate. Everything was repainted the dark brown of the costume from the movie, with the gauntlets dry brushed lightly for a metallic look. The head was also completely repainted, and I even sculpted in to remove that weird open mouth gap he had before. One katana later and Leauge of Shadows Ra's Al Ghul is ready to take down Batman and do all that is necessary to cleanse the world of corruption! Thanks for looking!

I thought it would have been cool to see Dutch hunting Predators for the U.S. government. Imagine if Schwarzennegger was in the Predators movie, but in the Laurence Fishburne role of Nolan! That would have been awesome. Predator Armor Dutch is made using a NECA Jungle Encounter Dutch, and a NECA Predator, of course. I stripped off all the armor and weapons from the Predator, and basically attached them to Dutch. I used the two pack Dutch, which was all bloodied, so I had to completely repaint him to clean him up. I had to do some major dremeling to the Predator wrist gauntlets, and to Dutch's forearms, to get them to slip on. I had to dremel some of Dutch's side to get the armor to fit right as well. I glued all the armor down, and even attached a net launcher from a NECA Predator 2 figure. So now that Dutch is utilizing all the weapons and armor of his greatest enemy, he's ready to hunt down every last Predator that makes its way to Earth! Thanks for looking!

Well, not completely. I wanted Batman to look battle damaged, as he does late in the game. I actually researched stills from the game to make sure the battle damage was accurate. To achieve the damage, I used my dremel on some parts (such as the bullet mark on the chest), but for most of it I used my carbide scriber to dig into the figure to actually give the damage dimension. I then painted inside each damage mark with some silver paint to show the metal plating underneath shining through. I also gave Batman his shock gloves. In the game, Batman gets these from the Electrocutioner. Once again, I wanted to make sure they were accurate. I used a combination of some styrene rods, Aves Apoxie Sculpt, and some electronic wiring to put the gloves together. I made sure they wouldn't interfere with articulation, and would be nice and sturdy. All that was left was to paint up the gloves, and dry brush some gray shades all over the figure to give it more of a weathered look, and now Batman, while tired I'm sure, is ready to fight for his life against Black Mask's assassins! Thanks for looking!

To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/thor-dark-world-poseable-cape-custom-action-figure To see exclusive WIP pics and more, check out the video ---> The Marvel Select Thor Dark World figure is cool, but I wanted to give him a better looking cloth poseable cape. I made my own pattern for it, carefully measured of course, and cut it out in this really great red material that wasn't too heavy and looked nice for the scale. I used some hemming tape to wrap some bendy armature wire down each side of the cape so it could be poseable. To attach it, I cut off the cape clasps from the Thor figure, and dremelled a hole in each side. The cape was then threaded through, including the wire. I then hot glued it down to the shoulder pads, and carefully reattached the cape clasps. A little paint later to touch everything up, and now Thor is ready to fight with a much more regal looking poseable cape! Thanks for looking!
  7. To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/wedding-avengers-custom-action-figures To see exclusive WIP pics and more, watch the video ---> This was a commission from a groom to be who wanted to give these to his groomsmen as gifts. He and his friends are Marvel fans, so he requested that I recreate their likenesses as members of the Avengers. The new Hulk came from a wrestler figure who looks like a 19th century strong man. I had to shave his mustache, and sculpt an entire head of hair over his bald head. The new Cap head started out as a DST Angel head. I pushed the hairline up some and gave him a new hairdo. The new Thor head came from a TNA Eric Young, with sculpted beard and resculpted hair. The new Iron Man head came from a Stargate Teal'c. I removed the forehead symbol, gave him a mustache, and hollowed out an Iron Man head, cut out the face plate, and stuffed the new head inside, so you could see his face. Some time after this, I was contacted by one of the former groomsmen wanting to get the aforementioned groom his own Avengers custom action figure. Since all the other spots were taken, he felt it was appropriate to turn him into Nick Fury. His head started out as a TNA Sonjay Dutt. I sculpted on his beard, resculpted the hair, and gave him an eyepatch. It's maybe a bit of a weird set of custom action figures, but I enjoyed doing something different and I really liked the sentiment behind it. If nothing else, I certainly honed my hair sculpting skills! Thanks for looking!
  8. People have (rightfully) had complaints about the flaws of the new MOTUC Rio Blast figure. My new video tutorial shows you how to fix him so his chest flap closes all the way, his gun backpack sits correctly on his shoulders (so the visor covers Rio Blast's eyes) and his leg chaps sit a bit closer to his thighs. I hope this helps. If you know someone having problems with their MOTUC Rio Blast figure, give 'em the link to the video. Thanks for watching. The link to the video: Here are some "after" pics showing you what Rio Blast looks like completely fixed.

To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/ultraman-movie-concept-custom-action-figure/ For exclusive WIP pics and more, see the video ---> I love doing movie concepts, and this is no exception. This is a movie concept custom action figure for Ultraman as if he were to appear in the current DC Cinematic Universe. The body is a Movie Masters Man of Steel Superman, with the head of a DC Universe Classics New 52 Aquaman. All I had to do was paint his hair and eyebrows, and paint the neck of the body to match the skintone. I smoothed out the detail in the shield emblem, and crafted the big “U” out of polystyrene and glued it in place. I repainted the entire body, giving it a dark wash and then dry brushing some lighter blue to really bring out the sculpt. After painting the belt details red and repainting a Man of Steel figure stand to match the new shield emblem Ultraman is ready to form the Crime Syndicate of America! Thanks for looking!
  10. To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/custom-doomstroke-doomsday-deathstroke-amalgam/ To see exclusive WIP photos and more, see the video ---> This one may seem wacky for a lot of you, but trust me Doomstroke is a real character. Not many people remember him, but he appeared briefly in the Superman/Batman storyline “Night and Day”, which took place in an alternate reality where a bunch of DC characters were amalgamated into new ones. I love mashups in general, because they have the potential to yield something truly creative, so I had to make Doomstroke. Most of Doomstroke is made from a DCUC Deathstroke, with some pieces from a DCSH Doomsday. The Deathstroke mask and eye patch are sculpted, with the strips on the back from a Hasbro ML Elektra. I spliced together pieces of Doomsday's and Deathstroke's arms to make them mostly bare, with just a bit of sleeve. The rest is just strategic gluing of Doomsday's spikes that I cut off to fit on the Deathstroke figure. I even added some tiny spikes on his eyebrows to make them more pronounced. I added some nicks and cuts to Deathstroke’s sword and some Doomsday spikes to the pommel and crossguard, then painted it to look like Doomsday’s bony spikes. I also added Doomsday’s belt and attached the sword scabbard and pistol to him. Some dry brushes and washes later, Doomstroke is ready to take on any hero, no matter what dimension they come from! Thanks for looking!
  11. To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/custom-justice-lords-batman-movie-concept/ To see exclusive WIP photos and more, see the video ---> I’ve already done a movie concept custom Man of Steel version of a Justice Lords Superman, so hey, why not do a movie concept Justice Lords Batman? This custom is made using the Man of Steel General Zod for the body, the forearms, feet, and belt from a Movie Masters Batman Begins, and the hands, shoulder pads, and head from a Movie Masters Dark Knight Batman. The new Justice Lords Batman emblem is cut from styrene, as is the piping around it. I also added some styrene to widen the boot tops. The cape is fabric and cut in the shape of the Nolan Batman cape. I went out and tracked down the best fabric weight for a figure in this scale, and made my own pattern. It can wrap over Justice Lords Batman’s shoulders, and be tucked behind them as well. I also made it long enough that when it’s pulled in front, all the cape tips are drooped on the floor all around him, in typical Batman fashion. A little bit of paint later, and Justice Lords Batman is ready to join Superman in keeping the public “safe”, Orwell style. Thanks for looking!

I studied several images and trailer stills in order to get down every detail. Each figure has been fully repainted from head to toe, with spots on their skin, Japanese Kanji on their bandanas and shells, and realistic shading, highlights, and weathering. For Leonardo I used the head from the Combat Warrior figure (the deluxe sized figures), because it’s actually smaller than the basic figure’s head (which is too big), and it sits better on the figure, and added the NYC button on his weapon strap. For Michelangelo, I added the shades around his necklace, and the tattoo on his left arm. On Raphael I added the scar over his lip, the tattoo on his right bicep, and some shades that fit on his forehead. For Donatello, I also used the head from the Combat Warrior figure, because the sculpt was much more detailed, and looked better. I made his glasses out of craft wire, with sewing thread for the tape and painted them to look like tortoiseshell frames. I also used sewing thread for the electrical wiring to connect pieces of his equipment. Of course I also went through and gave all their weapons realistic repaints as well, adding real chain to Mikey’s. And now that the Ninja Turtles actually look like they do from the movie, they’re ready to take down Shredder and the entire Foot Clan. COWABUNGA! Thanks for looking!

This custom is currently on eBay ---> http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575003513&toolid=10001&campid=5337381499&customid=&icep_item=161287990108&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg To see more, visit ---> http://www.mintconditioncustom.com/custom-agent-phil-coulson His name is not "Agent". He is Agent Phil Coulson. It's terrible that he never got the Marvel Legends treatment, so I decided to make one myself. I wanted to be as accurate as possible with this. The body is a Movie Masters Alfred with the arms and legs from a Marvel Legends Professor Xavier spliced on for the double joints (with minimal sculpting to blend the legs), and the head is a shrunken down cast of the Hot Toys Agent Coulson head from fellow toy enthusiast Ross Barrow. Using this cast ensured that the likeness to Clark Gregg would be as perfect as you can get. I printed out a Coulson S.H.I.E.L.D. name badge at hi-res and laminated it for a full "Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." effect. I gave him a removable bluetooth earpiece, removable sunglasses, glock pistol, walkie talkie, set of 8 "vintage" Captain America trading cards (courtesty of John Mallamas AKA Jin Saotome), and the Destroyer Gun he uses against Loki in The Avengers. It's a mix of several fodder gun pieces, made to look just like it jumped off the screen, complete with an illuminated effect in the barrel to make it look like it's ready to blast! And now Agent Coulson is ready show that he doesn't lack conviction to any threat S.H.I.E.L.D. faces! Thanks for looking!
  14. I agree. I would have preferred movie Falcon, and heck Movie Red Skull, to the three comic figures they put in that wave. They could have done Falcon instead of re-releasing the movie WW2 Cap.
  15. It's the rifle that came with the NECA Dutch figure, if memory serves. I'm not a gun expert, so I don't know the exact make of it, but it looks like the one Winter Soldier used in the movie, so I included it.
