ThunderCats May Yet Still Be On The Loose At Cartoon Network

Recommended Posts

While I did enjoy thundercats as a child, words can not explain how happy I was to see this show return years later. It is unfortunate that this show is poorly written, there is plenty of potential that is shown in some episodes like the past with the cats working for Mumra and them crashing on third earth. The stones story is also good but then the writers spend to much time on fluff episodes like the kittens finding a magic bag and so forth. I hope the writers get their act together for season two and stop with the little kid nonsense. Children will watch a grown up story line as long as long as it makes sense. Lets look back at Gargoyles that played on the Disney After noon, this was a Disney cartoon that covered Shakespeare, Betrayal, Flash backs filled with depth. This cartoon was entertaining for kids and adults alike. Please stop with the magic bag and episodes with old robots looking for souls, that only spells out CORNY and screams please cancel me!

My other beef is with the toy company, these toys are the worst thing on any toy aisle. How in the world do they plan to have a successful toy line that is very expensive per piece and appear to be smaller then a gijoe figure. Please hire some designers to sculpt nicely detailed 6 inch figures that kids can play with and adults will take pride in displaying.

i could care less about new figures, i just want the show to come back for another season or two...or three. the toys were mediocre, bandai has never been an elite action figure manufacturer in my mind.

ext1jvs-i agree to an extent regarding the filler eps, but they were not that bad. they still were informative of the characters personalities. i disagree about the new series being poorly written. i feel it is very well written. one of the best cartoons of today actually.

For those of you that thought it might still be alive?

Yep Daniel Norton did make a this statement in regards to our story on Facebook

"Thanks Lio. Let me just say, nobody is working on TCats. It would take years to get it back on tv if we started today. Draw your own conclusion. I love you guys and I thank you for all the support. I'm working on the new Beware the Batman cartoon I hope you tune in!"

Which "IF" is true, then someone needs to tell the folks at CN. It would def seem like their is a miscommunication of some kind from the parties involved, but right now I still stand by our story until we get some clarification from CN and/or Mr. Norton.

if true, that totally blows!

YEARS?! which means if it is NOT coming back now, but did at some point down the road, it would probably be a totally new look and story :(

There's conflicting reports on this. Some suggest the line just wasn't selling that well with kids, but it was selling amazingly with collectors, which is why many stores clearanced it.

Mr. Norton has actually updated with this on FB:

"Hey guys, I can see now how my words have really made an impact. This wasn't really my intention. If you look at what I said, it doesn't say anything more than what it means. The show remains in hiatus. Period. The reality is we are not currently working on the show. Which is what hiatus means. What is said between WB to CN or Bandai is between them. Until there is an official post or disclaimer from any of those people, the show has not been officially canceled. I don't have the authority to make any such statement. Again, I can only say I'm on a different project at the moment, which is Beware the Batman. I did a few drawings on my deviant art site for fun for tcats fans to enjoy. I would feel terrible if fans never got any kinda notice that the show would end one way or another. I hope there is talks of continuing the series, I'd love to finish the story. That's it, much love...."

Now I don't know exactly what is going on with the show at this point or if this is meant to be a bit of a backtrack of his previous comments, but I will say this. We are trying to get to the bottom of this story for you. We were the first site to point out the show was missing from the Up Fronts, and since that day, we have been speaking with people directly at WB, at Cartoon Network, at Bandai. We aren't just randomly pulling things out of our ass, we aren't just making things up. Yes is it extremely difficult to get a full story on this stuff. Yes. Could our story linked at the top of this thread which was what caused Mr. Norton to make his initial statement other sites then jumped on to try and claim the show was canceled end up being wrong? Possibly. But Unlike the the sites some of you are running on here and quoting links to, who aren't even bothering to give you the full story, and are just taking random quotes that get passed around on forums or Facebook, we are trying to get to the truth for you directly from the actual sources involved with the show. I was fully aware of Mr. Norton's comments the day he posted them and believe me we are going back to official sources for clarification, and when we get that clarification, and if it turns out our story was wrong, you can rest assured we will post an updated story right here on TNI, but until then, how about showing some patients and give the site that has been bringing you coverage of this kind of stuff for over 10 years now some credit in knowing we will bring you the actual news as it becomes available.

yeah well on one hand why would they go worldwide with everything if they mean to cancel the show anyway? then on the other hand keeping everything hidden and not talk about it is also a bad sign to me. judging how all the other cartoons stoped after no one talked about them. usualy its like yes there is a lot more to come stay tuned...... that doesnt seem to be the case here. time will tell i guess.

Sorta sounds the same way with GI Joe Renegades

I don't quite agree with that. Renegades ended at a point were the Renegades story line was done. The show would either do a name change or end. They chose to end it. Thundercats though has ended pretty much in the middle of a arch. Closer to Simbionic Titan then Renegades.

I really hope this show comes back, I really really enjoyed the episodes. It really was a really great revision of the thundercats i watched when i was younger. I bought the first dvd set back when it first came out, excited to watch it again and it turned out to be awful compared to how i saw it as a child. This new show reinvigorated the series and essentially upgraded it to be watchable at my age now. It reintroduced alot of old characters like they were new again and the stories reminded me alot of how awesome the comics were(I have all of them which are fantastic). Its definitely one of the few great cartoons out there these days, heres hoping it returns.

I think hiatus is just a way to say canceled without saying canceled.

Same thing with Voltron..They decided since there will be a movie they aren't going to make more episodes of Voltron Force which ended with a sort of a cliffhanger

All the guy did was give us the most straight forward answer so far: It would take YEARS to get new Thindercats shows out IF they started today. The GI Joe fan knows what the word "hiatus" really means...none of the corporations involved seem to have any kind of commitment to keep Tcats going, and it's just a shame. I still look at my 6" Lion-O and Mumm-Ra wishing for more...

I'm working on my Hall of Shame list for 2012. So far I have:

Most crooked toy company: Mattel

Most mismanaged brand: GI Joe

Most wasted potential: Thundercats
