So far I have to go with the War Machine there is something that looks off in the Mark 42, so far I prefer the "Heartbreaker" armor design and the Silver Centurion. maybe I'll change my mind once I see the movie.

Definitely War Machine. I'm not sold on all that... light yellow? Beige? The non-red color of the Mark 42.

I know! it's ugly right?

doesn't even look like an IM armor. Of course, I didn't like the first movie IM armors all that much either.. but at least they looked like they could be IM.

they should have went with something more comic-inspired

So IM had 30-some different armors between Avengers and IM3? Is that what they're saying?

I am fine with the new armor for IM. Looks like they decided to turn the color scheme inside out, gold with red trim instead of red with gold trim. It's fine for an experiment. And don't worry if you don't like it, he will look different in the next movie.

My favorite is the first movie armor. It's the only movie armor I have a toy of.

They did it was based on the Extremis Armor they even got Adi Granov to design and do concept art. I don't mind him having many armors growing up that's one aspect of Iron Man I loved the big hall of armor filled with different types of armors. I actually geeked out at that scene in the trailer where all the armors show up to help him.

This armor looks like it's based on the Bleeding Edge design.

In the special features of the first Iron Man Blu ray/DVD, Jon Favreau states that over the years Iron Man had a lot of armors of the but the look that really caught his eye was the Extemis version which in turn inspired the first Iron Man movie armor maybe it's not the literal comic to movie translation you were expecting but I see far more similarities between the Mark 3 and the Extremis armor than most comic book Iron Man armors. I think the point BigBot was trying to make was that pattern of the Mark 42 of having more gold showing is like the Bleeding Edge Armor which also has more gold showing and the helmets are very similar if not practically the same, It's obvious Salvador Larroca was inspired by the movie armor in his drawings for the comics; again they're not the literal costume translation you always expect in comic book movies but the similarities are threre. Besides you posted 2 pictures of figures that don't really capture all the details of the armors.
