It's been a long long time, at least 3-4 years since I last login. I was working in Asia and life got busy. I do keep track on what's coming out, and I buy and collect. Recently, I am back in my home in Canada, and I realized that I love North America for all the space allowing me to display my collection. Anyway, when I was logging in the forum, I noticed the option to log in with your facebook account. I was tempted to do so at one point because I forgot my password to my account...
But yahhh, it seems like it's a norm to go public, and geeking out has become something cool. Personally, I don't mind people knowing that I am a big geek, well, because most people know anyways. However, I do feel like keep my secret identity, kinda like hero under a mask, something about this that I don't want to let go.
If forum started to use real name, what do you think?
1) Once in awhile, I see a few members flaming/trolling on the board. If it's a facebook account, then those people might behave accordingly, maybe? Or taking it to opposite extreme, those people might take extreme actions, like physical violence? For example, I think there is an app for the gay community, a real gaydar, where it can locate the gay friends around you. For someone with that preference, it's a great device, but if this app falls in the wrong hands, the result can be devastating.
2) Toy trading is part of the experience of toy collecting. I had many many good experiences trading/buying/selling with people all over the world, but I've been burnt by few people too. If trading through forum with your facebook account, I do think it will be safer than to trade with someone using a nickname. eBay is always an option, but eBay and Paypal fees will be around 13-15% of what you sold, and I just learn that eBay is charging final value on shipping as well, ridiculous.
