Ok, just wondering.. is the Hiss Tank Driver a different Cobra than the "Stinger" Driver? Or is the Hiss Driver essentially a carded version of the gray Cobra we got in the Legions pack?

Wonder what costume Duke will be wearing... and I imagine that SE v4 is going to be an all black version of the one that came with Timber in wave 1.

Otherwise, looking forward to seeing pics of all of these!

Are you asking if the original HISS driver was different than the Stinger driver? If so, then yes. They had (and should have with the 25th version) vastly different figure sculpts. The HISS driver had a bug-eyed looking visor and a mostly red uniform, while obviously the Stinger driver does not.

Also, your postulation regarding SE v4 would be nice! The gray version never really sat well with me. That being said, a lazy repaint just doesn't sound nearly as nice as a brand new sculpt!

I'm partial to the version of SE from around '91 with the red visor, blue/gray/black theme. I repainted my comic-pack SE to look like that version. (I should post pics sometime.)

I just checked out YoJoe to see the differences between Hiss and Stinger drivers... HTD looks pretty sweet!

I would imagine the HISS driver will be the based on the driver of the original HISS tank (red, black thigh boots, blue chest armor) and Snake-Eyes v4 is going to be based on the RAH Snake-eyes v4 with red goggles, blue shirt, grey vest, and mountain climbing gear.

As much as I like the Snake-eyes v4, I would prefer v3 with the uniform he took from the Pain Brothers, with the knives across his chest.

WOW!! A Snake Eyes action figure!! Never seen before. This character is so cool, the next wave should consist only of Snake Eyes.

Just imagine: SE with silver grenade belt, or green grenade belt an so on... Nearly infinite possibilities.

Or SE with a boner!! Or with pink dots... I think everyone understands by now where i'm getting to. Don't get me wrong, i like SE but the GI Joe universe is huge and we get the umpteenth SE and we've just reached wave 7. What's up with Barbecue, Blowtorch, Iron Grenadier, Night Viper etc...

There are so many cool characters and i hope they'll see the light of day before the anniversary is over.

Or SE with a boner!!

I would totally get that version! Just kidding.

So far I like how this wave sounds. Albeit this is the umpteenth time we've gotten Snake-Eyes and Duke. But I like the rest of the wave. Esspecially Major Bludd.

Here's a question someone may be able to answer. This is going back to the 80's Joe collecting days. Was Snake Eyes this much of a Wave filler back when the 80's Joes were first hitting pegs? I seem to remember at least 4 maybe 5 versions of SE, but this was spread through a number of years. The 25th Joes haven't even been in production a full year yet, and already we're on v4!?

Someone at Hasbro is asleep at the wheel if they think we (Joe fandom) don't notice this. SE is quickly becoming the butt of many jokes on virtually every Joe Messageboard I frequent. Not because he's a ridiculous character, but because Hasbro has him in constant f-ing rotation in virtually every Wave!! Please, end this madness...before it's too late!! @smilepunch@

It sounds like Duke would be like from the opening to GI Joe: The Movie.

I would not mind Snake Eyes being colored at first just like the V.4 was and then change it later and paint him darker and without the neon.

I am looking forward to Major Bludd and the Viper most.

In the original line there were 5 Snake-Eyes figures:

1982

1985

1989

1991

1993

1994 (repaint of '93 version)

We were lucky back in the 80s to get an almost entirely new cast of characters each year and if they did remake a character they usually got a new figure. Hasbro now seems to want to base this line like how most other action figure lines are. For example, Star Wars is going to get a bunch of Luke Skywalker figures. They see Snake-Eyes as the star of the line.

If that's the case with Duke,I won't mind another one too much. Just wish they had done this with Stalker as well.

No, I remember when I was collecting Joes back then, I didn't start activly collecting until 1986. I really wanted a Snake-Eyes figure, but had no luck finding one until the 3rd version was released in 89. I managed to find a Timber at a flea market, so for a long time, I had the SE figure with the crossed daggers on his chest with Timber.

I do miss the old days of Joe collecting, when each wave was an entirely new group of brand new characters. Once in a while, we got an update of a figure.

Too right! Not sure what's changed between then and now, but something certainly has. Hard to complain too hard when the Joe figure quality has improved (at least the sculpts) so much since the 80's, but the endless repaints of the same two SE figures is beginning to strain credulity.

It's also not the 80s anymore. Toy companies don't ship figures in year long assortments anymore (though, with carryovers and repacks, some figures can be available all year), which is the crux of your observation. You also don't have anywhere near the number of consumers buying the toys for various reasons.

As stated, Hasbro wants to keep certain characters (Snake Eyes, CC, Destro, Duke, Storm Shadow in Joe, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, ObiWan, Clones for Star Wars) in heavy circulation to ensure kids and collectors just getting into the line can get such iconic characters.

In regards to the figure itself, I'd be SHOCKED if it was actually based on RAH's v4. I'm betting that Hasbro consider 25th a seperate line, so this would be the fourth 25th Snake eyes figure, which I'd bet will be the v2 in black (easy wave filler right there), if we're lucky, maybe a throwback to the 89 design. But given the number of new figures in this wave, I'm leaning towards a repaint.

Yes, I agree. I do remember liking at least a few of the different versions of SE, but the original Commando will always be my personal favorite. I guess someone at Hasbro has their two favorites also....because it's almost a guarantee we're going to see those same two figures repainted and or slightly modified right through to 2009. (smile)

Now, if SE v4 holds true to the structure listed on yojoe.com, here is the version we're likely to see in Wave 3/08:

Snake Eyes v4

Any thoughts folks on whether this guy will rock or suck?

That's a lot of figures for a new wave and not one made up of nothing but boxset reissues.

Major Bludd and Wild Bill are hold-backs from Wave 2 '08. That's why we only have 3 figures in that wave, and seven-ish in this wave.

As for speculation that "Snake-Eyes #4" is anything more than the fourth version of the 25th Snake-Eyes mold seems, to me, a bit premature. We've only gotten three Snake-Eyes' thus far: Box-Set, Carded V2, Black repaint, and now this one in Wave 3 '08. So it could be a repaint of V2 in black, it could be based on Version 3 from 1989, or even the VvV "Reloaded" Snake-Eyes.

What if you count the Comic Pack Snake Eyes figures? By the time wave 7 hits there will be 2-3 more just from Comic Packs, they might be out before wave 7. That would make the wave 7 SE v.6 or 7.

I think it's just the RAH v.4

I loved this version of Snake Eyes. And it would definitely be welcomed by me. As well as a v3 version. But as most have said, there was mention in a Q&A (I believe) that an all black v2 with modified crotch would be out sometime in '08. But, I hope for a new version. 4 versions of v1 and 2 of v2? Thats overkill of the same character in the same uniform. Snake Eyes is getting as bad as clone troopers and coming in tons of colors.
