G.I.Joe Hasbro Product Recap From JoeCon 08

The Wire

some of those new pics are nice, but darn it do I see a silver logo on that 5 pack firefly? The no logo was part of the sale for me! We can now also see 3 pack ace's helmet better. looks good.

This is interesting...

It doesn't look like Tripwire has the quilting that everyone was getting upset about. I wonder if this is a prototype, a change in the actual product, or if my eyes are deceiving me.

On a completely unrelated note, that blue Firefly is just begging me to be turned into Shockwave. All he really needs is a bulletproof vest and the cap.

That's currently my plans, change Firefly into Shockwave

Does that Cutter have a different head than the one shown at the con?

Nope, kind of unfortunate, but what can you do. At least we're getting him.

I've noticed the same thing too. Not only here but at HasbroToyShop.com. I think they've probably made a running change due to fan reaction, because some of the people who have him in hand at Hisstank.com have a quilted one.

Man!! Nemesis Enforcer looks good. The original figure from the 80s got a very small wings which looks crappy. This version looks pretty good. Could've use larger wings, like the movie.

So what's the difference between the comic pack Grenadier and the three-pack Grenadier?

A little paint on the officer, none as far as I can see on the trooper.

Cool. Just as long the Comic and three-pack Grenadiers don't clash. Isn't the three-pack going to be cheaper, also? Better for troop building?

Anyone else notice that they changed the camo pattern on Dusty?

First pic shown at the con:

Even though the camo pattern on the first one is more true to the original, I think the new camo pattern looks quite a bit better.

Man, I'm glad most of the Original 13 are fianlly out of the way. Not that I dislike them, but I always viewed them as dull and identical (not a stretch, there) and unless they've come into their own (Hawk, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Stalker or lesser achievements like Sonic Zap).

I can't wait for Wraith because I'd like some new Joes that aren't dullards named things like "Double Blast" or "Mr. Capture Net" with zero identity. Heck, I'd settle for a well done Hi-Tech or Overkill, but preferably not before someone like Dial-Tone or Wet Suit.

As pumped as I am for most of these I have to say I'm not really satisfied. Doesn't sound like a typical Joe fan, eh? Hah... What I mean is, I was hoping to see more from the 85-87 area. You know, the Sunbow cartoon alumni, who I really don't need to list. I'm glad we're getting Slipstream and Dusty... but y'know. Drop in a bucket, right? Not alot of time between now and the film, really.

I have no idea what market the "Combat Heroes" are for, but I hope someone somewhere enjoys them.

Wow...the Tripwire and Cobra Commander set looks great, especially Cobra Commander. And the Conquest X-30 looks great as well. And I'm relieved that the Rattler will have the turret canopy.

you shut your face!

That funky camo pattern aint Dusty!

I swear, Hasbro has it out for me. They make it a point to ruin my favorite characters. First Namor, now Dusty? :(

another thing I noticed, the BAT from the DVD pack has clean silver robot parts. The single pack has those black washed parts. I prefer the clean silver myself.

Not only did they change the camo on Dusty from one that I wasn't too happy with to one that I think is an abomination, but they also gave him gloves. At least that's what the second picture looks like. Dammit Hasbro! Next you're going to give me an Airtight with a green suit and yellow accents!(psst, plz don't actually use that idea, since you claim to scour the boards).

As for making a Shockwave out of Firefly: battle pack body, repainted Viper flak jacket, and maybe Gung-Ho's hat? I don't have that stuff in front of me, but I think it would make a decent LBC.

For the sea captains 3-pack...why another Torpedo? Why not make a kitbashed Keel-Haul out of the new Hawk figure's torso and maybe a new hat? Heck, you could probably even use some existing head and just repaint it. I like the Torpedo figure that we have, and even this color is okay, but I don't see him as part of the sea-going command structure.

I for one don't mind how they changed Dusty for the DVD Battles pack. I mean seriously, think about it; if you're a collector that's gonna own both versions anyway, wouldn't you want one of them to be somewhat different so you're not just buying the same figure over and over? Besides, I like the slight changes to the DVD one, even if it doesn't match what's in the actual DVD episode. Kinda cool-looking IMO...

I think that's the ONLY version of Dusty that's been announced so far.

No single carded version of him.

Everything is looking great! I really like the purple IG, the cartoon Bats, the better Serpy and Dusty looks great too (regardless of camo pattern). I`m really impressed with that Cobra Commander from the comic pack, they took a rather boring mold and made him look regal as all get out! Heck, i`m even loving that the green tentacles on Nemisis Immortal looks like some kind of bug, wish they fixed his crotch though.
