G.I. Joe Retaliation Trailer

Snake Eyes still looks rubbery....like the Thing in the F4 movies.

The trailer is awesome......Cobra Freakin Commander!!!!

I didn't see him in there.. I didn't see any Cobras except for Ninjas actually... guess I gotta watch it again.

Have to say, I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Snake Eyes still looks dumb with the rubber suit. Firefly is not Firefly. Only a handful of Joes doing the "Renegades" thing on the run from the government. All the Joes wearing the same thing again. Very Ninja-centric again.

Lady Jaye looks cool, but she would have actually been much better as Scarlett... because she doesn't seem to be Lady Jaye at all

oh well.. guess I might be waiting for Netflix again on this one

Pesonally, I'm optimistic after seeing this trailer.

Snake Eyes still has the "rubbery" look, unfortunately, but it seems not as much so as the first movie. No mouth on the mask which is a plus.

Looks like some good action. Jinx looks pretty good.

I think the first one is as ho-hum a movie as the next Joe fan, but I am cautiously optimistic about this.

okay.. I saw CC. He is standing next to that guy they are calling Firefly.

another bummer I noticed is that the Cobra troops now wear a generic blue camo

okay.. so the GiJoe team will be:

Joe Colton

Duke

Snake Eyes

Roadblock

Flint

Lady Jaye

Jinx

TunnelRat

Mouse

ugh... this seems a bit like the 1987 movie with Jinx and Tunnelrat taking up some spots from other more-deserving Joes... and Mouse will be this film's "Big Lob" I guess.

Duke, Snake Eyes, Roadbloock, Flint, and Lady Jaye are good choices for the cast.. but that isn't really enough Joes. I don't like that they are doing a "Renegades" storyline either.

I miss the grand team of my childhood, chock full of tons of cool vehicles too :)

who else do you all think should have made the movie?

I would have loved to see more guys like:

Gung Ho

Beach Head

Stalker

Spirit

Dusty

Shipwreck

Bazooka

Leatherneck

Wetsuit

Footloose

Lowlight

Get over the rubbery suit. You can't make a skin tight outfit look good without it being rubbery. (Batman, Spider-man, Snake-Eyes) It's never going to be the Marvel Comic or Sunbow Cartoon. They have to make changes to translate things into movies. I'm sure firefly doesn't wear a mask in most of it because they hate hiding people's faces in movies because the majority of the acting people do is with their face. That's why the Green Goblin's "eyes" open up in Spider-man and why Bane in the new Batman movie has a more open mask then in the comics.

I think it looks really cool. No goofy accelerator suits. I will miss Scarlett though.

This is a drastic improvement over ROC........I actually have a little bit of hope for GI Joe as a brand in the toy aisles again. With Captain Price and Soap from the COD franchise being what kids associate with "badass soldiers" these days I feel like this is as close as we're going to get. Also possible Sgt. Slaughter cameo and a legit looking CC........sign me up. I'm over the Joes not looking like the "80's Joes/Village people" look. (LJ could have a hat though) at least they're in camo that isn't designed to sell bed sheets........also I don't know how Snake-Eyes could look any better on screen and costume???

My goodness are there any positive aspects that you can comment on?

There's much potential in Retaliation even if it wasn't directly lifted up from the comics

and animated series.

Agreed. I see some fairly nice looking figures being made from these designs.

Looks good so far:

CC looks like the new IDW one - no weird fish mask

No lips on Snake Eyes

Jinx looks awesome (though, on the mountain cliff fight, is that her in yellow too? At first I thought maybe they were going to get Helix into this with the yellow, but she's sporting the red-handled katanas

HISS scout

Possibly less Duke - Roadblock says, "We're all that's left" and Duke was there when they were attacked so I guess Duke must get killed? I'm surprised if that's true but thankful b/c Channing is awful.

and uh... hello?

RATTLERS! (ok, they have five engines now it appears but still - gotta be Rattlers)

My only complaint? It's time to retire that Transformers "BWwoow" sound-effect. It's been waaay overused.

Yeah, that's Jinx with Snake-eyes on the mountain, i'm guessing they had to put her in yellow so you could make her out fighting a bunch of Red Ninjas.

Also it seems like everyone online is thinking the same thing.......Duke bites it in that desert assault.....

Those are all good Joes you listed, but like any big franchise like this, with multiple cool characters, there just isn't enough room and time for them all. Looking at the glass half-full angle, the Joes they did go with are all winners in their own right (Well...Mouse, maybe not so much, granted). Your alternative is the first cast consisting of Heavy Duty (always and forever a poor man's Roadblock), "Breaker", and Marlon Ripcord. So yes, you can't argue the improved character choices.

As for vehicles, I did see a hovercraft...

I'm just looking at this and comparing it what we got with the first and I'm seeiing a lot of improvment so far.

Not to mention why sit up and squander such a huge roster of characters only 2 films deep into the franchise.

It makes much more sense to simply cut down the roster and focus on a smaller group and save the others

for future installments.

Considering it was Cobra using said hovercraft I'd say it's a beefed up version of the Water Moccasin.

Oh yeah - I'll bet you're right. I know that was Storm Shadow and I thought the other guy was Snake Eyes but I guess that was Firefly. And we did see the Water Moccasin like vehicle in that earlier vid with the Rock.

I agree with Yojoe and Az. Saying Tunnel Rat is less deserving than other Joes seems unfair since he has a large fan-base, and has become one of the "core" members since his debut in Spy Troops - he has appeared in most of the recent GI Joe cartoons. Though I do find it odd that he isn't played by an actor with some Asian ancestry. Guess he is the "Ripcord" in this film.
