Battle Ram

SKYWARP

Recommended Posts

Just wondering who here has gotten (early access) or planning on getting the battle ram with Man at Arms for $110.00 not including shipping? I think the horsemen did a great job with it, but iI just can't seem to get around the price tag. While man-at-arms is a great figure, I think it would have been nice to have an all new figure to come with it instead.

I went ahead and purchased it when it went live this morning. Price aside, I have all the other vehicles and figures, so I couldn't pass it up, but $110, seems a bit on the high end, but in scale considering what we paid for Castle Grayskull. Looking forward to getting it in hand....

Nope.....not yet...its the beginning of Xmas season so I'm re-allocating my usual toy funds into holiday purchases......I would love to buy it but it's not in the cards....great product, killer price...shipping alone has to be $15-20....I'm gonna wait & hope it turns up in the 2015 cyber Monday sale....they should've gone w/another figure other than MAR....I'm gonna beat a rotting horse here & say.........Teela...c'mon Matty, you claim you listen to your customers & give them what they want.....howzabout another shot at an A-lister?....or hell even Fisto?....I realize this toy bidness is rocket science but using either one of those figs woulda been a homerun to me....

I agree. I didn't buy the wind raider or castle grayskull, and I won't be buying the battle ram this year. I don't have the extra cash this time of year to spend $100+ on one toy on top of all the other crap they ALWAYS load the the sub up with this time of year. Why don't they release the big items in the spring when people are getting tax money back? That would be smarter...

Matty definitely has the worst timing... and they do it EVERY year. Selling a crap load of high dollar items during the holiday season is bad planning indeed.

They really do rely on that collector addiction in customers to sell their product don't they? LOL!

I like to think this is the last year for them to do this.

Can't see much big stuff coming next year at this point of the line.

...and they can do it any other time of the year not the time of the year where you are needing to buy for others and not yourself

I got mine in today and have to say, it is way bigger than I expected. I really didn't get the scale of it from the pictures, but it is definitely priced appropriately, based on what they have charged for Grayskull, Granamyr, and the other vehicles. I am not disappointed in it at all, but I expect this is something that is not going to be a hot seller this time of year and you may be able to pick it up later at a discount when they are trying to get rid of stock.

Priced appropriately??? Really?

Ok... regarding to the other items you mentioned, I'd say they are all equally overpriced in relation to their size. But it's hardly appropriate. Every MOTUC item made is grossly overpriced.

However, I will say this... Compared to what Gentle Giant is charging for their 24" retro Alien and jumbo figures, Mattel's prices look pretty good.

It depends on your definition of appropriate. I don't mind paying $30+ for a figure I really like or more for vehicles accessories, playsets to go with them if they are so collector specific, as this line is. When you delve into the world of Collector specific toys, you pay a higher price. Action figures are not $5 anymore, nor are they even $10, unless you want some basic figure with no or lesser articulation. Even DC Collectibles figures, which I also collect, are priced similarly to MOTUC so as action figures go, they are in the ballpark for what it is. And DC Collectibles figures come with far less accessories, no back stories on the cards, mailer boxes (if you are into that), etc. If you look at any real collector based figures these days, they are all around the same price point (around this scale) and this is a line that is only offered online, since it could never make it at retail, in today's world. I don't think their shipping is appropriately priced, their volume alone should provide all of us with far cheaper prices with both the Postal Service and UPS.

I buy a lot of Sideshow & DC Collectibles statues, so $25/figure seems like a deal vs the price I pay for the Premium figures and statues from them. That is my gauge of reality. I know other folks have different perceptions, but in my opinion, they are par for the course.
