MOTUC - Would You Buy More If It Cost Less While Getting Less???

I don't know why he bothers to ask when he knows what we say won't make a difference in the slightest. Toyguru always pulls this crap. He's basically saying what he always says, except not as snarky, which is basically, "You guys are lucky to even have these figures."

But in a perfect world, I can do without the packaging and mailer box. It all ends up in the garbage anyway... but then the MOC collectors would be up in arms. lol

If they polly-bag the figures, then I will be done buying their product.

You want cost cutting methods, then they need to get their shipping costs in line.

They pulled this reduced packaging crap with the JLU figures.

So after 10 years of collecting the line, I was rewarded with 3 $30 a pop 3-packs all bent up in the shipping box.

As a MOC collector, I wasn't happy. Absolutely no reason that mailer boxes should have been remove from the figures for the price paid for them.

Now they are suggesting doing this with MOTU.

If you think there are QC issues now, then you just wait to see what would happen if they did this.

Nope we already have some QC issues . so no . these are great figs, price is OK when you add that its not retail and these are great quality compared to a lot of retail stuff. Like the new Marvel legends look great but the joints are sticky and plastic quality is low.

The price wouldn't be too bad if the shipping wasn't outrageous...

This is pretty scummy. Doesn't TG know that on the internet you can find out the proper cost for figures? I bet the total cost for a produced figure with package like MotUC is less than $10. Also take into account mattel have no middleman, so they keep nearly all of their profits. With the money the con from shipping, they could pay DR at the end of the year so that doesn't factor either.

I don't care for packaging, but here's an idea. Mattel can show an image of the complete box online, like the white mailer size or slightly smalle, ready to print on card. The pic could be of the figure on the card, so the box would look like you're looking at a MoC figure. The back of the box would be the same as the cardback. So if people want packaged items, they can make the boxes themselves.

Or, they could offer loose and carded items.

Nothing will change though. Even with the arse rape prices, people would hate the change more than anything else.

If they reduce the quality of the figures, I'm sure someone will punch Scott at a con. At least I hope they would.

^ Right. Because changing the scale mid-line worked so well for Thundercats Classics... and they were only 2 figures in.

If this line changed scale, I would quit it. If it started over in the 4 inch scale, I might buy He-Man and Skeletor and quit.

I've yet to see Matty produce a decent 4" scale figure anyway.

Cutting shipping and giving better character choices will help alleviate some (not all) of the anger. I'm much more willing to pay $25 for someone I really want (Filmation Hordak) than someone I don't (Netossa). I doubt anyone would gripe about Matty selling a $27 Fisto (well, maybe some eBay sellers). Why? Because there's a demand for him.

Matty needs to take a basic economic class. They clearly don't understand even the rudimentary market.

Lack of advertising and the sculpt modes did that line in

People want figures they remember when they were kids.If Lion-O and the rest looked like they did back in the day maybe it could of worked

Umm, Lion-o and Tygra *did* look like their 80's counterparts.

Then Bandai said screw this and made another Lion-o and added a Mumm-Ra at the 6" scale, instead.

I would have bought all the Classics if Bandai would have stuck with the original scale, but I was so irritated with the switch, I never even thought to buy the new 6" figures. I imagine a lot of other collector's felt the same way.

Sorry man but i think that people want upgraded figures like motuc is for the vintage line. Thundercats is often compared to motu and i believe a lot of people wanted awesome looking figures like motuc. That didnt happen. No offense to anyone who likes the thundercats figures but to me they looked bad. I would love for mattel to get the license and you will see the huge difference about it. A lot also hoped to combine these two brands may it be because of powercon. The idea is nice to combine these two brands. Anyway thundercats would sell if done right.

I was making a point to him about why Thundercats went under

If MOTU went to 4 inches I bet people would buy them ..Hell I was thinking of a way we didn't have to spend an arm and a leg to get them...

Ah ok. I believe there is a market for 3 3/4 figures of motu but i doubt now is a good time for it. Classics isnt dead yet and a lot of awesome characters are allready announced. If classics is done then this could happen.

Have you slowed or stopped collecting MOTUC? Here is an official Mattel poll to find out why

For those of you who still purchase MOTUC with the same passion with which you started, you don't need to read any further. :-)

But if you're a fan who has cut back on your MOTUC purchases, or if you have ceased purchasing MOTUC altogether, Mattel's own Scott Neitlich wants to know why.

The poll below has various options to find out your top reason for slowing or ceasing your MOTUC purchases. Please click here to vote today! This poll will run until 11:59pm EST on Friday, February 1st. Thank you for participating!

^ There's a write-in option where you can put that, if you like.

For me, it's a combination of issues.

1. Figure cost

2. Shipping cost

3. Not enough Fisto-style figures that make an effort to cater to both vintage fans and 200x and/or [enter your fav era here] fans. Yeah, I still miss the 200x aesthetic.

I have no ill will towards the line or anything like that - I hope it continues and prospers - but I definitely slowed my MOTUC collecting over 2012. And thus far I have no plans to pick up any of the announced figures in 2013.
