G.I. Joe Retaliation Trailer

The Wire

Recommended Posts

We know this, you've made that abundantly clear, so why the hell are you still ranting about it? You're actually harboring sour grapes because another

poster told the SE naysayers to "get over it"?

Wow! Do you practice what you preach or not? You could have ended the rant yourself, but decided to go on another quote by quote rant of your own (act like a hypocrit much?) and then you have the arrogance to accuse me on the very same thing you are doing? @loll@

This has nothing to do with "practicing what you preach". Its more about you owning up to a erroneous assertion that has no basis in fact. This has nothing to do with

"hypocrisy" either. Yes I could have ended it, but don't sit up and make a bogus accusation then look for an exit the moment its challenged.

You blowhards are a dime-a-dozen and I'm not talking about people that post nasty criticisms about toys and movie characters, but the ones that want to criticize people.....for criticizing toys and movie characters. I have no "sour grapes" towards Buzzchuck KJ. I made my position pretty clear (right?) and if I have "sour grapes" over being told to "get over" my dislike of the rubbery look of the movie SE, what the heck is your excuse for taking on me?

What's your excuse for misconstruing my post and falsely accusing me of something that couldn't be further from the truth?

The thing is, I never took you on, or that was never my intent. You felt the need to drag me in by replying to me, now when I

reply back I'm suddenly the "blowhard"? #WTF#

Just what I thought. You like to dish it out, but can't take anything in return. Maybe if you people would learn to make your opinions non-personal and without beating somebody over the head about theirs, you'd get along much better with the other members. If people don't mind the rubbery suit (and many here have said as much without any personalized attack on it) then that's all they have to post. You apparently don't like being criticized or told what to do...so why should you begrudge others for the same thing? Practice what you preach and treat others the way you DEMAND to be treated yourself. Fair enough?

Fair enough, but believe me, I can dish it as well as take it, but can you? ;) Again you want to lump me into a conglomerate of "blowhards" of attacking those

whom criticize movie characters and toys when I've done neither. This has nothing to do with criticism or being told what to do as everyone is entitled to their

own opinions which is something I never even remotely contested. I also never demanded anything from you, it was merely a suggestion, but you decided

to take it further and misconstrued most of my replies and now you want to pretend it never happened.

While looking up some various images of Snake Eyes, I came across this image of a fan's costume (mock-up) of SE and maybe I'd be the only one thinking this, but i find it to be way more appealing in looks than what they've come up with for the movie version?

snakeeyescostume.jpg

in my opinion that is how he should have looked but I'm not complaining about the rubber suit I mean at least the rubber suit looks close to how he was potrayed in the cartoon and comics and doesn't have that stupid molded mouth on his mask

okay okay okay.. I think that's probably enough of the bickering at each other..

let's try to move on and just talk about the topic please.

BTW.. somebody mentioned they didn't understand why I was so bothered by the trailer.. well because the director promised that this movie would be much more like RAH. He said he was a Joe fan growing up and he wanted to get the movie back to it's roots. And I am just not seeing that so far.

I guess I'll just hope that the future trailers will have more that fits my tastes

The fact that they did justice to CC helmet alone is enough for me to put a mustard

seed of faith in the film. Aesthetically I'm liking the designs more than the ones in ROC which will

hopefully lead to some cool figures that won't fare as badly in the toy aisle as ROC did.

yeah, they are definitely better than what we saw in ROC already (as far as costumes go). But they still have a long ways to go

like why are the Cobra troopers wearing that blue urban camo? They remind me of the Joes from ROC. Why couldn't we get Vipers or Cobra Troopers like the figures look? The recent POC Vipers, Cobra Troopers, and Cobra Shock Troopers would have translated very well onto the big screen.

So, just out of curiosity, how does everyone feel about Snake Eyes wearing the rubber suit? @smilepunch@

No!! No more discussion on the suit!! No more quoting long ass replies and wasting bandwidth!!! LOL!!!

Just agree to disagree!!!!

@loll@

I think it looks a bit like the way they did Batman's outfit in the movies...that's just me though. Anyone else have an opinion? @smilepunch@

Okay, sorry...I'll stop. @lol@

What I like so far in the movie trailer:

The ROCK!

*musters up his best Rock voice*

THE JABRONI BEATING, PIE EATING, TRAIL-BLAZING, EYEBROW RAISIN'...well, you get it.

I haven't bought a GI Joe figure since POC Low-Light...but you can bet I'll be getting me a Dwayne Johnson in 3 3/4" form. :)

personal that cloth doesn't look protective enough to me. Yes I know it could have Kevlar beneath etc. but it doesn't LOOK as imposing. But I'd place on equal ground with the POC one, and both are light years ahead of the ROC one. I think we need the knight visor look, it's more iconic, (even if I have grown to like it a little less) and that won't work with a cloth mask... and a hard helmet like that would look strange on mostly soft goods outfit. Does that make sense? Imagine this picture, with a biker helmet, dull or shiny, it would look out of place right?

It was certainly cool enough, but there are some aspects of the trailer that kinda bother me.

First and foremost, fine, Johnson is cool, and this is by no means a slight against the man. But I really don't wanna see this thing if all we're getting is a goof-ball vanity-vehicle. Anybody remember Superman 3?

Yes, but it's been a long while. What's the correlation?

Second: Joes on the run. Cool, got it. With the end of ROC I saw this one coming. But why kill of the rest of team, Duke included?

That's what the previews lead us to believe, but it's kinda up in the air as to whether ALL the Joes were in that ambush or not and it's not clear if others (along with Snake Eyes) were taken prisoner? Lots to be revealed yet. :)

Snake Eyes doesn't need any more protective gear on than any other Joe, as a matter of fact, he can get by with much less. He's a Commando NINJA with stealthy skills beyond compare and when he runs into the unprotected (by 75 lbs of protective armor) Storm Shadow....he needs to be a loose and flexible so that they can sword fight with each other. @haha@ I don't know why everyone thinks Snake Eyes has to be so wrapped up in armor, heavy Kevlar and ninja gear so much, over a basic uniform and weapons of choice? I'm a SE the Commando fan over the nauseating Ninja crap they took him into. The goggles are awesome, the visor is....well, kinda cool but silly at the same time.

Yes, but it's been a long while. What's the correlation?

What might've actually been a decent sequel (which would've reportedly included appearances by Brainiac AND Bizarro) was wrecked when Warners decided to make it as a starring vehicle for comedian Richard Pryor. Thankfully, the plans to include a laugh track (I'm not kidding) were dumped at the last minute.

Not saying that's what's going on here, but with Johnson getting the lion's share of screen-time, and the VO monologue, I kinda worry. G.I. Joe isn't a one-man show, you know?

And like I said, this isn't an anti-Rock thing. I'd feel the same way if Willis or even Park got all the screen time.

But as you say, this was just a trailer. There's still a lot of movie waiting to be seen.

OOOOOH how could I have forgot the Richard Pryor debacle! Yeah, that was so bad, I don't think I've ever been able to sit thru an entire viewing of S3. Yeah, I don't think the Rock will take as much screen time as it might seem, just because he's been the most vocal during the filming and dropping us all the teasers, but he'll be a far cry better than Ripcord and Duke from the first movie. ^_^

I'm not going to compare the Rock and Prior. Even if Rock does get a ton of screen time, he's actually playing a charater in GI Joe lore. It would be justified. Prior was shoehorned in to Superman because he was "In" at the time. Anyone remember Supes' African American comedian friend from the comics?

I'll hold off judgment on the deaths of all the Joes until I find out who "all" the Joes are. Will they be names we know, or will they go the IDW rout and make up characters like "Mudball", "Zipdrive", and "Rat-Face" just to be killed off emmediately? Maybe we'll have generic guys this movie for a high body count, and then in number 3 have guys like Gung Ho, Shipwreck, etc. join the team. Who knows...?

I also don't know if I'd be planning Duke's funeral yet. Yeah, he wasn't in a lot of the trailer, but like someone said, isn't he signed on for thee films?

Duke (and I'm not defending the guy) gets them audience members outside their usual demographic. Last year a bunch of the Cheerleaders at the school I work at got the GIJoe movie for each other as Christmas presents because "Channing is hot"

I really like what I see so far. I'm very excited. I happen to think Snake Eyes looks great. My only contention with the original was the sculpted mouth on the mask. They fixed it so I'm good to go...

Y'know, it seems like this movie could almost be viewed as a stand-alone movie; there's no introductory stuff we have to endure. We know the Joes are the good guys and Cobra is the enemy. It just feels like this film might be more straight forward and self-contained than the first one was, and it's not setting everything up (in a hurry I might add) like the first one was written to do. It looks more like the kind of film I've envisioned in my head for the past thirty years or so.

And did you guys noticed that cool scene where those Cobra soldiers have Snake Eyes in that harness to keep him from killing everyone? Oh...that was so very awesome.

one of the more ridiculous reasons for buying a movie I've ever heard I mean I find Kim Kardashian hot but Ihaven't bought one of her films or watched one of her shows
