2009 NYCC: DC Mattel Panel

I'm loving the JLU Superfriends 3-pack as well, and I might just have to pick them up if only to beg Mattel to do them DCUC-style! (That's Apache, Samurai, and Vulcan) I do not collect JLU (wish I did!) but maybe this would give them something of a push to put them into the DCUC line. Same goes for the Wonder Twins!

OMG!!!! If there was ever a time to use that acromym, it is now!! OMG!!!

There's a reason why I came on board this line from the get go, and it's to get faithful representations of characters I have known since I was a wee lil girl!!! While Marvel may be my preferred universe, I have known the DC one a bit longer!! And while I started out just to get the SuperPowers/Superfriends figures only, I have branched out and decided to get the entire line now!!!

I gotta say, to whoever posted end the BAF statement, may you be only one lil insignificant voice!!! I love em, and make collecting this line that much sweeter!!!

Who did I geek out when I saw em, well definitely Black Adam, perfection in every which way!!! I also totally geeked out when I saw the Super Powers Mantis!!! I am definitely getting that version no matter what!!! It's so 80's right now, with him and the Super Powers Para-Demon coming, I am in Super Powers heaven!!! I just hope the classic Robin can't be far behind!!! Batman needs his classic sidekick!!

Need to go back and take in everything again!!! #US1#

Oh and now that Wal Mart is carrying DCUC, I don't mind another exclusive wave!!! While it was hard to find the first one, I got the ones I really wanted, Atom, Riddler, and Amazo, left behind Static and Supes!! I can't wait to see who they come out with this time!!!

OMG I ust read the panel completely and saw the line about figures coming from both shws and comics!!!!!! That has to mean we might get Apache, Vulcan, and the rest of the Super Friends!!! maybe one day the rest of the Super Powers too!!!!!!

I don't know if you have ever checked out this site, but I think you might really enjoy it.

http://toyotter.com/sp/

It tracks the history of the Super Powers line and shows some of the proposed figures that would have happened for that line.

Also, concerning Black Lightning and Black Vulcan ... DC couldn't use Black Lightning in the cartoon because of some legal issues. Instead they created Black Vulcan. Both characters are very similar and Black Lightning might be the closest we will ever get to having a Black Vulcan figure in the DCUC line. So, if you get the chance you might want to pick it up just to be on the safe side.

Let me know what you think of the site.

I wonder what dc will do when they loose their steam like marvel did with their legends? Mattel/DC is pumping figures out at an alarming rate. What are they gonna do when they make all of their A-listers and B-listers? I hope everyone enjoys this while it lasts. :(:(

I don't think Marvel lost steam, they had many characters to continue with but Hasbro didn't want to invest in the line and made poor choices especially with sculpt and paint. I don't know about you but I never got my Drax the Destroyer, Gladiator, or those prototypes of Magneto and Storm

I think part of the solution is to reduce the amount of figures in a wave. 9 figures total is way to much. Reduce to 5 or 6 a wave is nice.

Did I misread, or did Mattel say they're offering up Wave 5 again alongside the second exclusive Wal-Mart wave?

Thats what I read

I did not read that. Could you point it out to me? Only thing I see that might be mistaken for that is-

"09 should see 5 wave of DCUC including the 2nd Wal-Mart exclusive line."

meaning in 2009 there will be five waves released, four to all retailers, and a new one to Walmart.

09 should see 5 wave of DCUC including the 2nd Wal-Mart exclusive line.

As far as that line goes, I agree with Ares, they mean 5 waves to be released in '09, with one of them being a new Wal Mart wave!!! Which according to them will be easier to get. I think it will, I mean all the stores that didn't carry the line, is now doing so!! In fact carrying the all important variant cases, so here's hoping we'll all get what we want in '09!!! Even if our wallets hurt!!

Thanks for the link Shanks, I've been to that site many a time, thanks to the link on Wikipedia!! However his site doesn't seem to work anymore, at least none of the links of the purposed figures, and what not!! Maybe I am going to an outdated version?? I'll check your link later!

I can't wait for Toy Fare, I just hope that one of the obscure characters they decide to do is Wild Dog!! Oh man oh man would that take the cake!! Also gotta have my Hawk and Dove figures, one of the few characters I followed from DC during my foray into comicsm in which Marvel was king.

Ugh, so it's 5 WAVES IN 2009, not a 5 wave in 2009. Meaning that we may or may not see the missing Wave 5 at Walmart in 2009 alongside a second exclusive wave that some of us may or may not see. I'm not holding my breath to see if DCUC makes it to Walmart. I'd loved to be proven wrong, but....yeah.

Ok, that sounds better. The Question won some poll, and will be released as a DCUC figure this year, am I right?

Given that the leaked Walmart list for future waves was correct, I'm guessing that is also true. And Steppenwolf is coming out as well along with Forager and a few others.

Man oh man....Steppenwolf was like my all-time favorite Super Powers figure. A DCUC version of that figure would be soooooo awesome.

I find myself curious, though. Right now it looks like DCUC is running an even mix of: JLA/"A-Listers", JSA, and New Gods/"Kirby" figures. I only have one question....

When are they gonna start working the Legion into the mix?!?

if im wrong for this, then wheeljack can slap me silly until wave 9 hits in his area.(damn...that my be forever)(lol) but heres a link to a youtube vid of them showing the new joker fig. when they show it, pause it. he has a mallet, playing cards, and an open "laughing" mouth expression. its obviously a gentleman ghost kit bash, but its damned good, and much needed.

I have to get that superfriends 3 pack.

Hopefully one day they will make an El Dorado, WonderTwins, FIrestorm Ronnie Raymond, and Rima figures. El Dorado was one of my favorites because I am Mexican-American and thought it was so cool to have a Mexican superhero when I was a kid. Sure he was stereotypical, but I loved his costume and his MANY MANY powers!

I would love to see ALL of the Superfriends in the 6" line. How cool would that be? It is definately possible since we already have a Batman Beyond.

I dun buy the DCIC toys, but boy l want that 30 inch antimonitor fig. Hope they sell that toy rather than havin it only as a raffle. Looks to have the normal dcsh poa.

In case no one mentioned it, Mattel said they will not be selling that 30 inch Anti-Monitor. He will only be available at the raffle, either 1 or 2 a day. They are having each one hand made and hand painted. It would be far too expensive to mold, they said. And it did not have elbows or knees so it has less articulation than DCUC but the same, I guess, as JLU.

I like the way you think! I'd be all over them if they went and did up the rest of the SuperFriends DCUC-style! I'm hoping that since they went with the 3-pack, that it is some kind of test outting for the real deal. I mean, c'mon! Who would be a more appropriate BAF than Apache Chief?!? And I could easily see the Wonder Twins as a 2 1/2 pack (with Gleek). Though that might be relegated to MattyOnline just because of lack of demand.

And, of course, if you get them, you HAVE to have El Dorado!
