this is a pretty nice figure.

i've never been into 12" figures and i didnt think there was a strong market for them, but it seems like more and more characters are getting the 12" treatment, so there must be.

There indeed are, more so than 6" figures. A lot of the Hot Toys figures are made mostly because of fan demand, including this Marty figure. He is something I would call a "flavor of the week" character since prior to an official figure, he was a figure that people would customized to death. Before Marty, it was the Walter White figure, which we will get from 3 zero. Before Walter White, it was the Ghost Busters, which Mattel took noticed of and made the 12 inch line. Customization is a bit different than 6 inch figures as in it mostly involves buying parts from existing sets or custom-made and putting it all together. For heads, a lot of professional artists would make a head for themselves that they would later do a limited run for others costing somewhere between $40-$200. The same goes for painters, who paint prototype figures for a living. If you think that Jin Saotome is the master of repaints (not that you would), then you are mistaken as there are a ton of ppl in the 1/6 community that blows him away. That said, a lot of the customs made for this scale looks good.

I mostly go to the 1/6 forums nowadays, so if you have anything questions about 1/6 figures, feel free to ask.
