  1. Series writer's guide says CC is chaotic evil, while Destro is logical evil. They contrast each other. Hama has said he didn't like Duke, but used him anyway. Duke seemed more "square" than Flint. Bit older and out of touch with what was cool. Flint was prone to jealousy where Lady Jaye was concerned, whereas Duke was "born to mack", as evidenced with Selena and Cover Girl in "Cobra CLAWS are coming to Town". He wasn't just into Scarlett.
  2. Yacht Club Cobra Commander is awesome. It's amusing how they are still using the compartively under-articulated bodies, with smaller joes now have double jointed knees. Hasbro...forgetting why the lost the serious 12-inch fans. Not that they care, these are for kids and nostalgic Gen-X posuers.
  3. Someone elsewhere had a better idea. Forget the club, Hasbro should released these en masse on $3 single cards they've been shipping to stores like Family Dollar and Dollar General. Yeah, the retro full sized cards would've been dumped. *shrugs* Fans are going to be paying $100 for four news heads, 2 new lower legs (Munitia) and some new accessories. But RAH fans get less than that buying the Convention sets.
  4. Some clueless people seem to think these are the "Deth of the Line" (especially at another forum). Like Hasbro shut down half the 25th factory to make old figures with old paint schemes. Are there that many newbie collectors out there? You know there was a GI JOE relaunch before the 25th line. Yeah, while some you had yourselves knee deep in Transformers or Star Wars or whatever, some of us were buying the 2002-2005 line. Yeah, some figures were ugly...(and the newbie fans of that "new sculpt" line were busying griping about how ugly vintage 80's style figures were!) These are nothing special, just Hasbro selling low cost figures to what amounts to retail outlets that cater to low income people. It's not all about you, collector. BTW, Mattel has been doing this with Batman Animated figures, Playmates with micro Turtles and Hasbro with small transformers for years now. Most of them lines/sublines that have left major retailers years ago. (Goes back to lurking)
  5. I like to see what they are making. But I'm not that interested in collecting the line as it is. Buying every character over again in a totally new format got old with the 2002-2006 "new sculpts". The mid torso joint looks strange still. Ball jointed heads are okay, but asthetically look odd from different angles. It's nice. That's open for debate, but retro designs are cool, I suppose. I'm not sure how long the retro aspect of the line will endure. When the movie hits Hasbro may switch themes. Not that many and not very soon. I think new collectors will mostly just want the new style.
  6. Torpedo looks good. There's at least 2 dozen characters more worthy of new figures than Battle Armor Cobra Commander. Rock'n Roll looks okay, a bit boring. Good that they are spacing out the original 1982 team.
  7. Actually, I thought part of the reason Cobra was invented because it wasn't politcally correct to make the bad guys Soviets. Cobra officers and troopers were carrying Soviet Ak-47's and SVD sniper rifles. Early Red Star figures were packaged as Cobra because someone in China equated "Russian" with "the enemy. Then Hasbro made them fix it.
  8. Actually as far as U.S. releases go there was - Eco Striker with the water cannon - Stargate version with the altered seating, rear running board, dashboard, missile launcher instead of cannon - 2000-2001 black version with Pathfinder - 2003 Toys R Us exclusive "sound attack" version in urban camo with BJ's Dialtone
  9. I agree, head is even as good as the DTC version. Looks like has a beak or something and the helmet design is strange.
  10. Based on a comment from con attendee mobeav made at Joecustoms Kinda sucks, I never got into it. I've seen kids interested in it.
  11. Rick Duel Chani and what's his name, Chindo or Chiido the Rodian Comic early biped Jabba the Hut, who was based on a still unmade Cantina/Mos Eisley alien. But they'll never show Marvel comics that much love, they only use the Marvel ones for easy repaints. I suspect we'll see purple suited comic Bossk and maybe white IG-88 with black shadowing highlights. Imperial Sentinel with super articulation and clothes good would be cool.
  12. Isn't the Jet Pack Trooper supposed to include a officer helment? Meaning the gas mask helmet is removable and the figures can be used as a comic version Officer.
  13. The jet pack trooper is for those of us who are nostalgic for 2006. (Those gas mask trooper comic packs are still around in some Toys R Us's!) The Cobra Commander is for really old timers who are nostalgic for 2004.
