The majority of people who disliked Superman Returns did so because they believed the movie was boring. The actors, the acting, were issues for some, but for the most part the movie was deemed boring to the lack of action. Now, we're getting a movie that will most certainly have action, on a cataclysmic scale, because it's SUPERMAN. The greatest superhero needs a supervillain of equal or greater power. Zod is a good choice. That is the only connection to the Donner films. The use of Zod. This is a different interpretation/potrayal of Superman, so it's only logical to expect a different interpretation/portrayal of Zod. The Watchmen and 300 had vision, tone, acting, action, and actors that made the story and characters larger than life, but in a way that people could find believable. Real fighting is brutal and bloody. That's reality. When Zod is trying to beat the earth into submission, it will take Superman having to do everything he can to stop him cold, and not in a nice way. Because the nice way isn't going to cut it. That's why this Superman will be "darker" per Nolan's vision. For those who are too skiddish to handle it, don't watch the movie. For those who have been waiting to see a Superman movie worthy of his abilities and powers, get ready, you're about to get your wish. In any event, everyone will be able to see a new Superman movie. Stop complaining.
