  1. Excellent Joe set, not a single bad choice except for Outback's shirt, But I guess they had to have some reason for somebody to buy the FLACK. The Cobra set is little on the "meh" side, with Dr. Mindbender being the only standout. I like what they did with Lampreys, but his gun is a bizarre mix of a Sten and Grease Gun. The others are a little goofy with Strato Viper being the only other decent one, but he's already in a vehicle set. I'll definitely get the Joe set, but I'll probably pass on the Cobra one since I'll bet we'll see Dr. MB again, he's the only other big Cobra leader left and the others have all had multiple figures.
  2. Wow, Zodac still has his nasty back hair. While still disgusting, it's nice to see they kept it. The only figure I'm waiting for is Man at Arms, and maybe Man E Faces if they do him. I'm not liking how Hordak gets to jump into the line so early when so far they had been pretty close in following the original release schedule, and still no sign of Teela.
  3. Sleeves can be removed with little effort. I'll say that it appears to that Sideshow finally made a correctly-proportioned head, but it could just be the huge shoulder pads. Where are the nunchaku? At least they chose to make the only decent Storm Shadow and not the lame Movie or joe version.
  4. Make these the same size as the originals and half the price, then I'd care. They already said they can't do Filmation characters, even the mustached Man at Arms feels like they are trying to skirt around that since it's not what the original was. If the SDCC one is something never done before it won't be from that.
  5. What's up with all the cardboard stuff? Are we going full circle to the days of Land of the Jawas or the first Cobra base?
  6. Sorry, but this crap looks like stuff from The Corps, or worse yet that crap at Toys R Us. I'll admit not every Joe vehicle was great, but the Night Raven was one of the best, and this is a pale imitation. The weird Ferret is okay, but the old one really should have been done by now for the 25th. That PITT, while a nod to the old days of vehicle/bases, is pretty dumb looking when they could have easily just re-released the Mobile Command Center (again) or General and saved themselves some design expense. The Cobra Hummer is okay although fairly generic. The Mole is okay but drill machines went out in the 60s, and Gi Joe is still a ripoff of the Thunderbirds anyway, so this just makes it official. The new Battle Bear is lame. The Gunship looks like part of the ROCC or RHINO. The Armadillo is about as synonymous with GI Joe as the Sky Hawk, but it seems somehow they can't figure out how Thunder's helmet works. The Slugger was too simple to make I guess. It's clear they will do the same thing like Transformers and make stuff not in the film, which is good since it means they can dig up old stuff and still sell it as movie junk, meaning wide distribution.
  7. That Joe pack is great. It pretty much consists of just about every Joe I've been waiting for. The whole Rip Cord name thing is kind of stupid, but it's just a name. A few details are odd, like Zap's mustache not present, Chuckles shirt being a bit dark, and some missing accessories I'm sure are still being finalized. The Cobra pack is pretty good, but there are a few I'd rather see instead. Mindbender has been long overdue, but the BAT has been done too many times now. Night Creeper is pretty lame considering there are already a half-dozen ninja figures. I'd rather have a Techno Viper or Moto Viper instead. I'm glad there are still some figures to look forward too since I'm not going to bother with much of the movie stuff.
  8. Some Indian dude probably, it's very Funskool-esque. If they've got an original illustration to touch-up, it looks fine, but on these dudes that never had card art - wow it's bad. As for the MASK tie-in, I'm guessing they needed to make something to keep the rights, and since MASK is probably the only thing left from Kenner that has a chance of being reborn it was time to roll out a figure to renew some contract. Maybe that means we'll se a Sky Commanders or Visionaries dude too. It's also a good way to gauge interest in the possibility of bringing MASK back. If the figure does well it just might convince Hasbro to try a 25th anniversary of MASK (2010 btw). Although I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Trakker will be warming shelves next to Wild Bill and the HISS Driver, along with most of this trash in this and the current wave of figures. Mutt, Eels, and Airborne are it, the rest is just crap. It's fitting the art is Funskool quality, because so are the figures.
  9. How is this the "Best of the 80s episodes" set when it clearly looks like "stuff from the opening scene of the movie" instead? Every single part - save for the MASS Device part - is from that part of the movie. Don't get me wrong, that opening montage is arguably the best animated 3 minutes of GI Joe, but this box should be called "The Movie", come with said movie on DVD, and be done with it.
  10. That looks nothing like Paul Freeman. When will Sideshow get a sculptor that has a damn clue how to achieve an actor's likeness, and make a head proportionate as well? The most over-rated, over-priced, and un-talented company in the 1/6 scale market. They should stick to distributing Hot Toys' and Medicoms' wares and computer generated statues.
  11. A kitbash with a sword and visor a 7 year-old can sculpt, all for $120. Sideshow is not Hot Toys, or Medicom, and upping their price to try to put themselves on their level is false posturing and laughable. What Snake Eyes is this supposed to be? A weird combination of the first and second, with the gun from the third. If you're going to make an iconic character, at least try to make it look like people expect, not some funky lot of parts trying to make it some realistic gear version.
  12. Are you serious? The old Kenner ones are far better than this garbage. The plastic is like silly putty on these and some have LESS articulation in the legs than the old ones. The thumbs might break if you forced it, but these can't hold on to anything because they're so slimy and soft. It's like they've got arthritis. This stupid figure has knees when the other ones don't, that makes zero sense. It's hit or miss if they decide a character should have knees in this line. And he comes with the Ark, which he never sees in this costume. A Map Room like the old set would have been the way to go, with an electronic feature for light and sound, something not possible in 1982 for a child's toy. The one decent thing is the monkey dude and the german motorbike. Buy both and finally have something we wanted from the old line. Although the mystery of his knee status might foul that up.
