Just thought I'd let you guys know the pics of the "best of" dvd battle pack are up HERE AT TNI. Included in the set are

Duke with an open "yelling mouth" (waste of time)

Cobra Commander with a real crome face plate (pretty cool if you ask me)

Another Cobra trooper (another waste of time)

and...

ALPINE!@!!! YAY!!! He looks bad a$$!!!

Dude!

Cobra Commander is PERFECT looking. Just PERFECT.

The Cobra trooper looks good because the helmet is more unique to the 'Cobra standard' than the intitial officer/trooper design.

Alpine. Not a fan of the character, happy to see him.

Duke... Reminds me of the Snow Job PSA ... "OOOOOOOOH!" "GI Joooe!"

not really that intersted. Alpine is nice, but unless that Chrome head is bigger (Which i can't really tell frmo the pics if it is ) than the pin head we got, the cc won't interst me. I'd rather have a fixed flint than a yelling duke.

Those are from the opening of GI Joe The Movie. So the set is still from that. Just no Rawhides or Cobra-La.

CC even has that bomb he planted.

That is so cool that they did a whole set based off of the opening.

Duke has that jetpack strap and the Trooper has a parachute.

I hope it does have the Movie for the DVD.

That Cobra Commander is way better. He has an opened hand too. See, sometimes repaint of CC is good.

Did anyone see how they changed Major Bludd. He has different lower legs and the HISS driver body now.

Um...I guess it's just me, but I was expecting a little more out of a "best of" set from the cartoons. :(

It's nice we're getting Alpine, but I was hoping for a bit more than another Cobra Trooper, and a Duke and CC with new heads.

Again...it's funny that they can give Duke a yelling head for this set, yet they can't give Leatherneck a new head. @grumpy@

Loving the new CC and Alpine!

Well, the set obviously includes the movie as all these characters are from the opening sequence. Duke and CC have their jetpacks, the bomb on Lady Liberty, and Duke's flag.

I like the new CC, not thrilled, but pleased, can stand the new Duke (the open mouth bugs me, I'll probably head swap), the trooper is OK, but Alpine knocks this set out of the park for me.

YAY ALPINE!!!

I'm hot and cold on this one. We get three figures we've gotten a lot of so far, and one that's not even 100% new. Now in this case reusing Snow Job's legs for Alpine isn't a deal breaker, but since we're already getting repaints and slight redo's I'd like to see one completely new figure. Duke's head is strange, I like the Cobra troops' new head, and I love CC's shiny dome. I love the bomb fashioned after the opening of the movie too.

Thought someone should add a link:

Yeah ANOTHER Cobra Commander and Cobra trooper/officer. Oh well. The yelling Duke is ok. at least it's somthing different.

I think Hasbro FINALLY figured out something that works. Package a NEW guy with some crap and it will sell. If nor for Alpine, Dusty and Quick Kick, none of those packs would sell.

A yelling Duke? Really?

What's the point? It's quite sad that Leatherneck or Cutter doesn't get a new head mold, but we get this. Pretty lame. I don't think I'll be picking this up.

Not even to get Alpine?

But you have a good point. 18 Dukes and THIS one gets a new head when several others that need one don't?

Not just Alpine....remember, you also have to buy this set if you want the final piece of the MASS Device (the beam-emitter thingie). That or try to get it on the secondary market.

Cunning Hasbro....cunning.

The real pisser is going to be yes, we will buy all these sets for the unique figs (Short-Fuze, Quick Kick, Dusty, and Alpine), then later on Hasbro will release them single carded. It's bound to happen, and yet we'll all fall for it anyway, and kick ourselves for it later! (I know I'm probably going to...)

Oh yeah. No question about it.

Then either don't buy the single card or hang on to your receipts and packaging and return the multi packs later. I understand the reason why toy companies do multi packs filled with repaints and ONE new figure. It really is marketing genious but it pisses me of too. If you aren't afraid to return stuff, you don't have to play in to their game.

I know I'll get stuck getting this pack only because I want Alpine. However, when looking at it, CC I actually quite like with chrome, two REAL hands, and a bigger sigil. The trooper and Duke I could pass on, but I like the colors of this new Duke better. I'll probably head swap him with a different duke and use the trooper for a custom. If they do release alpine singly later I'll just pass.

The way I see it, if you don't want to spend that much, don't buy it. As for me. I want I buy.

Whenever my desire for a figure or whatever doesn't outweigh the price tag is when I don't buy something.

I'm always comfortable with my purchases. Don't get me wrong I'm responsible with my money. The bills always get paid first and foremost. But, the way I look at collecting is they're not a neccesity (having my mortgage paid is a neccesity, being able to pay for food is a neccesity etc.).

Collecting is a luxury. If I can't pay for it. I don't buy. I dont' have to own any of these figures so if I buy them I'm comfortable with paying for what's asked.

That's my $0.02 anyway.

Definitions of Irony #788: Using a picture of Duke which clearly has the new arms to complain about Hasbro not fixing Duke's arms.

I noticed that, and found it quite amusing.
