Anyone know what the price is?

That I havent heard yet...I suppose, if the price was right for a big hollow display ship, it would be a redeeming factor. If you didnt have an action figure compatible Falcon already, what would be a good price point in your opinion? $30-40?

Also...is it just for kiddie toys like these, or are we going to have to put up with the multi-lingual clutter on packaging?

*groan* The state of retail toys is getting more depressing every day.

I think you're right. You see more and more evidence every day.

I'll take my POTF 2 Falcon over this any day. It's not as big as it needs to be to be in scale with the figures, can barely hold one modern figure in its cockpit (much less four), and doesn't have all the landing struts that you see in the movie.

And it's still better than this space-waster.

How are your Walmarts for SW merch? It's down to about a 2ft wide, 4ft tall aisle space here.

And THAT, folks, is the sole reason they are cranking out new SW projects.

That describes all my Walmarts as well. I don't care though because my 3 3/4" SW collection is done. The only SW stuff I'm on the lookout for now is 6" OT stuff and they don't have those at WM.

They're cranking out new SW because it's been sold to a company that wants to write new stories for it. And, yes, milk it the way any would-be owner of the biggest geek franchise ever would.

I think a lot of factors go into the making of this and the way they chose to make it. The Legacy Falcon was awesome and still is for collectors, but if you look at all the parts that come off and get lost, almost every single one being sold by a parent on auction sites and flea markets and garage sales, there is a missing cockpit, missing top parts, missing missiles, missing landing gears, missing radar dishes, etc...

Does this suck for collectors? Well, I guess it depends if you haven't gotten one of the older Falcons or not. To me, it seems smart on their part, make a vehicle that is different than one that has already come out, make it so the kids won't loose the parts, they can use their imagination when the characters ride in it and fly it around. If the price isn't too much out there, I don't see a problem with this and the Xwing coming out(that is made the same way).

I already have 2 Legacy Falcons and I think 12 large Xwings and something like 4 large wing TIEs... as it stands, I'll gladly step aside and let them make some things that are more kid friendly.

and yeah.. my Walmart is the same, two pegs and some crappy 12" figs... I'm hoping by this fall with Rebels coming out, it'll get bigger and then they'll have half an aisles worth next year with episode 7([ prob most of it crap we won't buy anyway).

And the house of mouse might just be a wee bit jealous/threatened by Harry Potter land at Universal...and that we're sure to get more movies from that universe as well.

I maybe could get into these. They remind me of the Playmates Star Trek Ships that made sounds but could not fit any figures. I could see the same concept here with the Star Wars Black 6 inch line.

And yes, the current state of retail toys suck. It seems they hit a climax with Marvel Legends and DCUC and the like.... but have gone down hill because todays kids don't play with toys.

Instead of trying to really market to them, Toy companys have instead decided go smaller and less articulated. Yeah that will sell. :(
