Kenner Super Powers Collection

Recommended Posts

I didn't find a thread previously started so I thought I'd start this one.

I just amassed a nice collection of Kenner Super Powers figures/vehicles/etc. I was 7-8 years old when this line came out and I always loved it. However, I never had any of them except for Superman. I was already devoted to MOTU at the time and I was loyal to it and it alone. But I had to at least have Superman. :) In recent years I've been keeping a close eye on loose/complete figures on ebay, but never dropped the hammer on going full speed ahead with collecting them. Now, within a months time, I dropped quite a few bucks on this collection and have just about everything that came out except for the Justce Jogger... which I will pick up at some point. I absolutely love this collection. It is colorful and really was a fantastic, nicely sculpted line. Too bad it only lasted about 3 years because there was a wide selection of characters they could have made, ultimately accumulating as many figures as vintage Star Wars if given the chance..

Yes...I loved this line so much as a kid, from the figures to the Jack Kirby-drawn mini-series comic, it was all so awesome. I had Batman, Robin, Darkseid, and Braniac, and my brother had Superman, Aquaman, Joker, and Green Arrow. Man, I wanted that Batmobile so very badly...

I have in recent years thought about starting a collection, but there's just been so much stuff out, I can't afford it all, so unfortunatley Super Powers was always put on the back-burner.

  • 2 weeks later...

What no Riddler?? A few years ago, I bought a Super Amigos Riddler in great condition for about $50. I used to keep my doubles separate from some of the mixed lots I bought. When I noticed the sloppy paint aps on a Superman and Batman I thought they were Super Amigos too. They actually turned out to be First Shot production pieces. So it was pretty cool.

I love this line, Loved it as a kid. I now make customs from time to time of Marvel Super Heroes, to improve on their sometimes poor paint apps. Parts of the Marvel Super Heroes lines go very well with Super Powers (ie, Thor, Iron Man, Thing, Hulk). I'm going to fill out the rest of the classic Avengers line up with Super Powers parts.

Some great additions to the Super Powers line are the 89 Batcave, Batcycle, Joker Van, Two Face, Bob the Goon (repaint purple), and Joker Cycle. I repainted the Dark Knight collection Bat Jet and Penquin plane to reflect Super Powers Colors.

Display looks great, just watch the dust!

regards

Joshua
