G.I.Joe: Resolute Comic 2-Packs In Stock At BBTS Plus New Images

Hmmm ...I hate to say it but I'm not being overwhelmed here. I'm glad we're getting these characters ...and I'm talking about Tunnel Rat and Shockwave here because let's be honest. The other two, Destro Whatever and Ninja #One Million, are throwaways that I'm only buying because of Hasbro's arm-twisting tactic of making me buy a dud to get a character I really want...Still, all in all, TR and SW should've given me that same feeling of excitement that I got from Airborne, Snowjob, or Torpedo. Instead, they're just acceptable.

Tunnel Rat's big problem is that head. I know TR is the big GIJ homage to Larry Hama but that honor will always be there without giving TR such a huge head with what amounts to an asian caricature for a face. The camo patter could also be more substantial. It looks like random grey checks on his arms and face. This is the sort of figure that I'll hold my nose and buy now but next year watch Hasbro turn around, fix this guy with a new head and re-release him in some big expensive multi-pack.

Shockwave fares better, and I might like him a lot more once I see him. There's nothing exactly wrong with this figure but like I said before, there isn't that Airborne level of "wow" here. I'd like to see this guy in a REAL Resolute styling.

Wow! I had no idea that Captain Marvel (aka Shazam!) was actually Tunnel Rat in disguise!

Yeah, that'd be me chiming in about TR's head (visage). Still, I'll pick both packs up to have the new Joe figs. The fodder that comes with it, Destro and SS infinity, will no doubt become backseat drivers or something, but I'll always go for the new fig. The kicker will come when they release TR and Shockwave in single packs.

I was under the assumption that Destro and SS were Resolute figures since these are Resolute comic 2 packs. Tunnel Rat and Shockwave obviously are with the 25th line. Can anyone confirm this? And yea I agree about single card releases, that pissed me off what they did with Tripwire!! And I wish the Dreadnoks were reversed, the cartoon versions with the comic pack and the toyline colors with the single carded. About the head sculpt of Tunnel Rat... look at it this way, at least its a new one. None of us like re-use of heads in this line... Cutter and V2 Leatherneck for example or Short Fuze's Doc Head.

Maybe Tunnel Rat has more than one head in the package?

Shockwave was always a favorite of mine.

Desto is weirdly ok. I don't know why. Maybe his head could be replaced and he could be used as Darklon or some other character.

Storm Shadow is sufficiently "non Storm Shadow like" that maybe he could be used as Dice.

I sense a Kamakura coming down the pike with that SS head-sculpt. I'd buy one, especially in the vintage-style packaging. If they can release Wraith on a vintage-style card, surely they would Kamakura...

I think Hasbro is tryin to make TR look asian but failed horribly. I don't believe Hama has eyes like that narrow yet the toy does. I can't see why Hasbro did not do the eyelids like they did durin the Spytroops line. I mean, TR had asian traits in that old line but it wasn't a borderline stereotype like the 2 pack.

M<aybe it was done because as a cheap way to let ppl know TR is asian.

I don't get why they couldn't do Tunnel Rat like Hard Master. Hard Master had the Asian traits without looking like a '40s propaganda poster. I'll get it anyway, because I'm a whore for this stuff.

My last comment, I promise. If you go to the yojoe website and check out the vintage 1987 Tunnel Rat, you will see that this figure is a pretty darn good homage, even the head and face. The other interesting fact you will read, is Hasbro use to model a lot of the head sculpts after real people, people who worked at Hasbro, and Tunnel Rat is actually modeled after Larry Hama, the comic book writer. I have never seen pictures of Hama, but apparently he's an ugly, squintty eyed little b#stard.

They were listed as in stock yesterday, probably sold out. As for Hama, I think everyone knows TR is supposed to be molded after him, at least the original one was. I don't know if I see the resembelance here though.

The head is way to tooned out it looks like a carved style sigma six toon head. it doesn't fit the body at all compared to the resolute Duke and Cobra Troopers. Look at or compare it to quick kicks bruce lee style mugg.

I was very much looking forward to this figure especially after getting the resolute Duke with it now being my Favorite version of all time.

This is by far the worst head sculpt since the 25th line started

Very dissapointed

got them the day before christmas. tunnel rat & shockwave are great. yeah tr face is a bit asian looking but they actually nailed the height on him. shockwave is all sorts of awesome with some fantastic weapons. the gas mask is awesome and one of the best accessories they have done for the whole line.

destro & ss are another story, they are both just really strange. destro is gigantic/freaky tall. also has these weird spiked things on his feet and the colors are just strange. ss is strange cause he is a ninja but has all this stupid armor on, doesn't make sense.

luckily destro & ss have some custom potential. destro has a removeable scarf & removeable chest plate. ss also has some other helmet which can be customized into cobra ninja dice.

hasbro should have just made tr & sw together and ditched destro & ss.

I like all of these except for the Destro...that figure is complete crap.

Shockwave could end up being one of my favorite figures from the 25th line though...he looks great!

I like all four of them. Tunnel Rat's face looks unique, I'll give it that, but I don't think it looks bad. Storm Shadow looks pretty sweet. I'm usually not a fan of anything non-classic, but he looks cool and I like the colors. I also like how Hasbro made Dice's mask and accessories, maybe we'll see he and Slice soon.

Destro looks different, but I don't hate it. I don't love it, but he looks okay. Shockwave(blast) looks awesome! I love all the accessories he comes with, and that gas mask looks so cool! I can't wait to find these in stores.
