I don't care for Bayformers so I don't usually post news about them... We did see Optimus ride Grimlock right?...

yeah. and there was a two headed dragon/bird looking thing that i'm guessing was suppose to be swoop.

Well, when the final plot is revealed, I'm sure they'll fix that :D

So is Marky Mark supposed to be an older Sam or is it a different character? Am I wrong or did I see the same underwear model from DOTM in this trailer? (Like it matters?)

Nice try with the dinobots, but I'm probably skipping this one.

Different model, lol. Who's the Gun-headed Decepticon? I wonder if that's "Galvatron" that's slicing the car in half. The background looks like the same background from the footage that was leaked when they were filming and the big huge black and purple truck was chasing Prime... and he kinda looks like Megatron. As for the Dino-bots, I kinda dig the look Grimlock has, kinda reminds me of a T-rex skeleton. yeah, he's got some weird horns, but everything else is Dino, I don't see dragon when I see him.

and Grimlock is a fracking dragon just like Bay to screw things up

Come on, man. You weren't expecting anything close to the 80s version, were you? With Michael Bay? @smilepunch@ These are the dinobots we thought they'd be.

I was expecting a T-Rex not a mythical creature. If I remember it was a few years ago when he siad he didn't want to use the Dinobots because he wanted to keep the films real?

from what i've heard, it's kind of a reboot, kind of not a reboot. i think there is somekind of connection besides Prime himself.

So...looking to me like we're getting Galvatron, Unicron (the big "cloud" thing in the sky at the beginning of the trailer), and possibly Predaking (the flying two-headed dragon). Or maybe Galvatron has a "Beast Wars" style mode for the two-headed Dragon.

I'll probably end up seeing it regardless. I've never been as attached to the original Transformers as some, so the movie designs haven't bothered me. The immensely stupid scripts and poor editing/plotting, however, (especially in the second one) are another matter...but some of my friends freakin' love the movies so...yeah, probably catch a matinee with them.

I'm like you Jmacq1, my son loves the movie designs, I got out of TFs when I got older and never got back into them like SW or GI Joes, but then my son loving them, got me back into them a bit, but just liking what he liked really, so I'll probably take him to see it. Depends how the later trailers look though. He was kinda upset on all the killing off of named TFs in the 3rd one.. and still to this day, doesn't want to watch the 2nd half if it again, lol(also cause they trashed the Chicago skyline and a couple of his favorite buildings, lol).

According to IMDB, Walberg's character is named Cade Yeager. So no, it looks like Sam has been written out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just thought I'd post this up. I think this image exemplifies the drastic shift Hasbro's design philosophy has taken from the previous Bay movies to TF4, and why we're seeing some of the more collector oriented movie figures being put into the Generations line.

that's a pretty ugly figure...

For all of the numerous flaws of the Bayformes, I was OK with their designs, particularly for the Autobots. I have figures from the first and second movie that I think look pretty cool.

This thing looks like crap, however. There will be no temptation to replace my ROTF leader class Prime (which is a darn near perfect movie toy). In fact, all of the figures I've seen from the new movie look really weak.

It does show the drastic changes and if you ask me, for the good of the line and the kids. So many times my son would get bored of his transformer because he'd take them all out of the bin, start to set them up and after the 3rd transformation, he was done. We went from deluxe figs to Legends and Commanders, that helped a lot! He's 10 and will be close to 11 when these hit, so I can see him wanting them more for his collection now and I love that they're producing both, now kids younger than him can actually drive prime down the rug, make him jump and in 3 seconds flip him into robot mode just like the movies. Older kids and adult collectors like myself and son can get the better, highly detailed ones. Win-win!

I see what you're saying when it comes to the kids. At times, I've spent 20 min transforming some of the :/

Galactus is in this movie? Ooops. I got confused by the cloud.

Y'know, I've been doing something lately since all of the excitement's been building from the trailer releases...I imagine the title being said in that awesome voice they used for Devastator in the 1986 animated movie; instead of "Prepare for extermination!!", it's "Age of extinction!!" Go ahead, try it. Awesome, isn't it. I've even said it out loud a few times when I'm alone in my best impression. (lol)

Now I will admit there are some familiar elements...someone unwittingly aquires a junky old clunker that turns out to be a Transformer, secretive government types show up snooping around, evil humans get involved, aliens attack and attempt to invade earth, starting with a highly-populated major U.S. city, patriotic imagery, etc. All of that stuff should be old and tired to me by now, but dangit, I like it. It works. Heck, I downright expect it in a Transformer movie; it suits the movie Transformers so well and simply makes it cool and familiar to me I guess. I just hope there's less inappropriate humor and hyperactive, erratic human characters. It seems like in the others, especially the second and third films, everone was competing with Shia LeBeouf as to who could be the most spastic and annoying...

I do like the fact that we see kind of a small-town setting this time, at least initially. There's an "aliens/paranoia-in-Smallville" feel I like about it. And I absolutely love the flat-nose rig concept for Optimus Prime, as a nod to the original toy. I've even warmed-up to "Samurai Prime" in a big way. I really didn't like it at all at first, but there's something very cool about the new design. He looks more finished-out I guess, more streamlined, and more humanoid even, which I really like for some reason.
