All Toy Lines Must End

Sub sales. That's all it's about.

Mattel is hoping this will get some fence-sitters to buy in.

It will work, to an extent. So rather than have another okay sales year for 2015 that might lead to a 2016 and its subscribers, they're doing what they can to get better numbers for one last hurrah.

Honestly, I'll be surprised if the sub goes through. The last two years have been pretty rough for garnering up the minimum number of sales even with sub-bait like Ram Man and Two-Bad. Who does MOTU have left that would cause people to blindly sub yet again?

Plus, you've got a bunch of former completists (like myself) that have just had enough of the Matty BS and are quitting altogether.

I imagine the tooled figures that will be previewed at SDCC will be released much like the DC Universe ones that came out this year.

Lol that's what people said about the dc subs , that it was all a gimmick and that they will release the line no matter if they do not meet the goal of subs..... they were wrong but I didn't see any of them say they were wrong, they just moved on to new conspiracies and complaints.

I'm good after this year . Got all the characters I wanted and even some that I surprisingly Didn't know I wanted.

My only worry now is that the complainers will move on to complain about something else I like and poison the forum there like they have here.

I said nothing remotely close to that.

What I've said is that 2015 is the final year, and announcing as much a week before subscriptions go on sale is an attempt to get those who otherwise wouldn't be sure to buy in for one more go.

Did that really make you laugh out loud, or are you just incapable of responding to something you don't like to hear without mockery?

Well, I think Neitlich is dead set on wanting to finish the line up with all the vintage figures.... he made it clear that he wants to meet the goal of having a complete, "mirror image" of the vintage line in the form of classics figures (not a direct quote). So with that said, I'm sure the 2015 sub is a lock. He will play the usual "2015 line is in danger, not enough subs are being bought" game... but It means too much to him and his resume/management portfolio to make sure the line gets completed. Even without the scare tactics, the MAIN fan base is devoted to this line and they along with the etailers will buy up all the subs.

@haha@ got to say i agree with this I am sure there are people out there who are already panicking now & are planning on buying an extra 3-5 more subs simply because its the last one

I remember that when they started this line they said they had it roughly mapped out and it would end in 2015 or 2016. So I guess they are about right. Plusfor a online only toyline it's done better than anything else and gone deeper into character selection then I thought possible. If it ends, so be it.

It needs to end. It's already broke records... no need to keep it going just for the sake of keeping it going. Some are speculating that Neitlich may rebrand it like he did with DCU... I don't see that lasting too long though. If he rebrands it with vintage style packaging, and depending on which figures get a re-release... it might do well. Count on getting the dumb-ass figures from his Son of He-Man crap. ;)

I could actually see that being a possibility especially if they're still making money from the toyline.

Hypothetically I could see them re-branding it just to get out the remaining stragglers and possibly a

vehicle or two, but it wouldn't be something that would need to last to long.

One target market could be MOC collectors. It will give them something different to collect because the packaging is different. Also to appeal to MOTUC collectors with holes in their collection, and if they decide to... they could make Fisto again for example, he can be released without the 200X stuff and maybe give him a slightly different paint scheme, darker skin tone, etc. ...just to differentiate him from the original AND make him cheaper. Same with Teela, release her without the bird and change up the paint. It's also a new, fresh way to release NEW figures with no doubt reused parts and very minimal tooling.

I'm sure down the road, they will want to get the most out of the molds and bring the line to retail... assuming we get new media, or even rehashed old media. It all depends on how they go about it.

Honestly, I think they will use Stridor for the 2015 sub. It's the one thing that would get me to think about subscribing. You know everyone will want a badass Stridor for their Fisto...

Meh. I'm good without Stridor, and I'm one of those fortunate enough to have Fisto. I can't imagine the masses jumping up clamouring solely at the chance of getting Stridor.

Now, if Matty released a Stridor with a "new" version of Fisto, they might be able to rope in additional customers.

All I know is, I am so glad that "Classics" is finally ending. I love the line, and I have for the most part enjoyed collecting the figures... but the FUN factor is hindered by the poor QC and just the mere fact that YOU KNOW WHO is in charge of it... It will be a day of celebration when the last vintage figure arrives at my doorstep. :)

Ok with it ending.

I would like to hope that they pump out the last few wanted figures next year to finish their plan.

Not a lot of really must haves left.

Squeeze, Lizard Man and an Evil Seed would be the one's I really have an interest in seeing before the end.
