Ultraman made his television debut on July 17, 1966. For over 30 years Bandai has been making Ultraman figures. Mostly of the limited articulation, vinyl variety. This year they have created a new line, to compliment their popular S.H. Figurarts lines and to compete with other lines like Revoltech, called Ultra-Act. Ultraman, as he appeared in the most recent film is, fittingly, the first figure in this line. I have the complete review with nearly 40 photos up today as part of our Ultraman Week celebration at Infinite Hollywood.

Infinite Hollywood: Ultra-Act Ultraman Review

Thanks for taking a look! SHUWATCH!

Just saw this thread and decided to add someof my own comments. Great review by the way! :)

I got back into Ultraman not too long ago, since I picked up the original Ultraman series on DVD. I haven't seen these episodes since my early childhood back in the 1970's. It was fun to watch my old hero again.

Anyway, I heard some things about the new Bandai Ulta-Act action figure series and liked what was being issued. I just got my Ultra-Act Ultraman in the mail took, and took a few quick pics...

I liked that the ray beam has a lighter painted middle than the rest of the beam creating a real nice effect.

Sporting his new cape from the recent Mega Monster Battle movie:

Overall, I really like the figure with all of its articulation and extra accessories. I did come across a couple of loose joints, but I can probably fix those issues with clear nail polish.

I got Belial coming in the next day or so. Watching Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends movie on youtube recently convinced me to pick him up. Pretty entertaining movie, and Belial has a pretty dynamic design. I'll have pictures of him once he arrives.

I'll get Gomora next, but I have to pace myself on these items as they are not cheap. Gomora was one of my favorite kaiju from the original series and he's even more of a badass in the recent movie.

I can see I'm going to be addicted to this line. :D

My Ultra-Act Belial came in today. Now, I have somebody to face off with my Ultraman.

Some quick thoughts and pics.

He's a pretty awesome figure with similar articulation to Ultraman. You can easily get him into a number of poses. The added articulation to the mouth and open palm hands are a nice touch. Belial is bit tighter with the joints that Ultraman.

I'm also getting a Venom, Carnage, and Darth Maul combination vibe from this guy. The textured detail on his body along with the nice paint apps really give this guy a sinister look.

His accessories are pretty cool including the Giga Battle Nizer. You can add effects to the weapon, which look pretty cool with some of the poses.

He's definitely worth getting!

Overall, I'm really happy with Gomora. This is a pretty solid figure. The sculpt has some great details that stay true to Gomora's design. The paint apps look really good on him. Articulation is well done on the figure, especially the way the joints are segmented on the tail. He comes with only a couple of extra accessories for his energy blast and the cutoff tail, but he really doesn't need much more given his heft.

QC issues are nonexistent on this figure as the joints are pretty tight. Gomora is a nice start for the monsters in this line. It makes me really look forward to the upcoming Eleking.

I hope Bandai does a Godzilla line like this!

My Ultra-Act Ultraman Zero arrived today! :D

DSC03599.jpg

He's makes a nice addition to this growing line. I especially like the shoulders and arm details. He definitely takes his cues from Ultra Seven. Paint apps are tight and very clean.

The loose joints issues that plagued the first Ultraman release seems to have been addressed with Zero. The joints on mine are very tight, and nothing feels like it's going to pop or fall right off.

All the melee weapons that were used in the recent movie come with Zero, and you can display him in a number of poses.

I only wish he came with some energy effects, but I'll assume the Ultimate Zero release will probably include those.

On to pics...

Another welcome addition of Bandai's Ultra-Act line arrived this weekend in form of the Baltan...

DSC03622.jpg

Actually, this is the Baltan II version. The first version is slated for next year.

DSC03623.jpg

Bandai continues to make strides in this line. Baltan is a very accurate representation of the character. Sculpt has some amazing detail. Paint apps are subtle, but effective.

Articulation is plentiful, and you can get the figure into many nice poses. Only the head movement is limited due to the design. No QC issues that I could find as the joints on mine are extremely tight.

Baltan also comes with a couple of blast effects for his claws, and six mini Baltans to reenact those past Ultraman episodes.

If you do collect the line and are on the fence about getting him, I do recommend picking the figure up.

Hope you enjoy the pics...

It's nice to have a bunch of different Ultra characters released, but I'm pretty convinced the Ultra-Act line needs more monsters, so we can do more things like this...

Now, I just need a version of Tiga to match up with Golza.

For those collecting the line, Tamashii recently announced Ultra-Act Zoffy and the Ultra Act Brothers Cloak web exclusive, both slated for May.

Tamashii also updated their pages, and included the following images:

bandai is hinting at a kemur seijin, ultra-act figure along with gan q, death facer and imperiser in this pic. http://img855.images...irmationspi.jpg

I'm only familar with kemur seijin from the original Ultraman and Ultra Q. I just looked up some of the other names that you listed, and they would make nice additions to the line.

Speaking of additions...

I thought I was going to slow down on my Ultra-Act purchases, then these arrived for me. :D

DSC04069.jpg

I can't get away from these exclusives.

I may slow down on my purchases a bit, but I'm thinking about troop-building Darclops Zero based on the appearances of the last Ultraman Zero movie. I'll have to hunt around considering the prices are pretty high for this exclusive.

This line is addictive!

Also,picked up Ultra-man Agul this weekend! :)

DSC04153.jpg

He's a nice addition to the line. The sculpt is pretty solid, and joints are very tight. I'm liking the blue paint apps on him as it's a nice deviation from the typical Ultraman formula with red and silver.

I think Jean-Bot is probably in my top five favorite Ultra-Acts. This makes the upcoming Jean-Killer and Gridman even more desirable if they're anything like Jean-Bot!

I also like all the different flame weapon options that come with Glenfire. There are so many ways to display him! If you haven't picked these up yet, get them! They are worth it!

If anyone is interested, they have the blue Ultraman and a Mirror Knight in stock at my local department store. They also have a number of figuart Kamen Riders. I will purchase them and ship them with receipts for cost plus shipping. They are listed at 2970- 3490 yen, depending on the character it appears. I'm only here for another day though so pm me if you're interested.
