  1. Yep, definitely looks like a bandaid. I like nice little detailing extras. Shows the designers are going the extra mile with these figs.
  2. Nice review. I liked seeing pics of her vs. vintage figs. The joe line really has come a long way. 25th/ROC trumps ARAH O-rings in a BIG WAY!
  3. An A-List character would be the likes of Duke, Cobra Commander, Destro, Snake Eyes, all the usual suspects. Its easy to figure out because they have the most action figures. Slice and Dice are very much down on the opposite end of the spectrum because they are poor replacements who never really caught hold in the toyline. I wouldn't even say they have a cult following. Hasbro has given new characters figures in the 25th/ROC line, but the core of GIJoe isn't going to change. Because the Hama-verse is over. Because releasing Storm Shadow as a Cobra has greater popularity than his 88 version. Bottom line, he's more marketable as a Cobra and with the exception of the Hama-verse, that's how he's always been portrayed (well, also DIC toon, but who watches that anyway?).
  4. I think turning Cobras good is a horrible practice. By the end of the comic, Hama had to resort to the brainwave scanner to get a Cobra high command back. Mercer is good enough. His entire gimmick is Ex-Cobra Viper. Storm Shadow, on the other hand, his gimmick is Cobra ninja assassin. It doesn't lend itself well to being a sidekick to Snake Eyes. They should be opposing forces. The problem with redeeming villains is you dilute the rogue's gallery. Storm Shadow becomes a joe, we are left with d-listers Slice and Dice to fill the ninja slot on Cobra. So, I think Hasbro is right on the money. Storm Shadow should be Cobra. A good character can't be held hostage by some old comic. JMO
  5. Marion had a unique look to her, she was a tomboy, who cussed and drank. She punched Indy! Willie was whiny high maintenance chick, but had a good heart. She probably was put through the worst ordeal. Dr. Elsa Schneider was a freaking nazi. She slept with both Jones. She was greedy. She double crossed everyone. Very unappealing on the whole as a person. I rank them: Marion first. Willie second. Elsa third. Marion is basically the woman in the Indy-verse who stands out on her own. Definitely the most steadfast. Willie is shrill, Elsa is insufferable.
  6. What Hasbro is doing to Major Bludd would seem to support my opinion, actually. They are going to reuse molds, no matter how inappropriate they are. Since when did Bludd ever have knee pads? Reaction to his figure is it is an Embarrassment. I predict the Best Of pack is complete rehash figures, with the draw being the final piece of MASS. Then on top of that, the elements that power MASS will be packaged in even more rehash figures in single packs (we already know of Cobra Commander). That isn't opinion, that seems pretty much conclusive to me. We'll see, but I see the toon packs as a stealth way to get more mileage out of stale and flawed molds. Of the MASS and Revenge packs, no toon-only character is included. Those are the facts.
  7. I think that's a crock, honestly. The designs are cool for Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer. Seems like there's plenty of excitement over them possibly being made throughout the internet by collectors. (The people in hollywood don't seem to think the concept of GIJoe A Real American Hero has mass appeal, so what exactly does? S6 power suits for an Action Force team?) I think it is strictly a cost cutting measure. The movie focuses too much on new characters to justify all rehash figures, so they change it to best of to force people to buy a bunch of repaints of Duke, Scarlett, Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes, etc. to get the last piece of the MASS Device. Hasbro is doing to quick and easy thing here. It's a slime ball move to suck money out of fans of the toon without giving them characters they really want to see, imo. I doubt Sgt. Slaughter will be in the Arise pack either.
  8. I don't care what anyone says... that bat is one of the most visually stunning characters in the Joe mythos. That pack better be perfect. No Flint repaint for Falcon. Big bat wings for Enforcer!
  9. Yeah, I did the Destro headswap, and he looks perfect... no longer reminding me of his 92 figure.
  10. I do like both, actually… … but, if I had to choose, I'd side with the toon. Voice acting and characterization in the toon just do it for me. I still hear those same voices reading the Devils Due run. I also don't like how Cobra got bogged down selling arms in the comic. I want them trying to take over the world. The toon was able to show a lot more action than the comics also, which was constrained by limited page space (vs. 22 minutes in a cartoon).
