  1. My first custom action figure in over a year, Captain Comet was one that I had been meaning to make for a long time now. As a little kid, I didn't know much about the character but I always dug his costume, particularly how he was portrayed on the covers of "The Secret Society of Supervillains". Recipe: Base body - DCUC Flash Head - DCD Cosmic Boy (neck was cut off and adapted) Collar - DCUC Orion (rounded with Apoxie Sculpt) Shoulder straps - DCUC Orion's Astro Harness (pain in the butt) Wrists & fists - ML Kraven (the added articulation allows him to hold his gun and have fists) Belt - cut vinyl Belt buckle - Apoxie Sculpt Gun & holster - Plan B WWII figure (gun was modified with fodder) Feet - DCUC Batman Chest logo & lightning bolts - hand cut electric tape (pain in the butt) With the exception of the Liquitex white paint, all of the other colors were custom mixed using Liquitex and Citadel paints.
  2. Please share this with everyone you know that is going to be at SDCC. Post it on other sites and print it out to give to the vendors at SDCC. Nate is already bragging that he is going to walk away with 30 DCUC Plastic Man figures and 30 DC Direct exclusives. Everyone should have a chance to buy a convention exclusive toy. One person should not be able to buy 30 so that he can make a profit on Ebay.
  3. Well, it appears that you're going to get your request. I would have liked Captain Comet or anyone from the All Star Squadron instead. This was posted on another site... Weak.
  4. Pass! Gimme a break. I'm ok with DCUC paying homage to and including character versions that were actually in Super Powers, but let's not forget that DCUC's sole function is not as as tribute line to SP. DCUC is a line that's supposed to encompass the whole DC comic book universe. Why should Mattel waste an action figure slot on a character that has never even graced a DC comic page? Secondly keeping the above in mind, do you think that DC Comics (you know, the company who's characters are licensed by Mattel and who has final approval on all Mattel DCUC action figures) actually would want this? The answer is no. No, they wouldn't want to glorify nor bring attention to a character that used the hype of one of their old toy properties to generate profit of which they never saw a dime of. Surely anyone that has a history of reading DC comics could easily think of years worth of characters that should see plastic form sooner.
  5. Much more here... http://www.criticalmess.net/index.php?topic=8423.180 And the feature is here... http://www.criticalmess.net/index.php?page=415 Thanks for looking!
  6. You are a freaking riot. I remember you from over at the Fwoosh. I even remember the thread in the Tech Help section. There was a reason you were banned, which isn't my place to discuss. I'm glad I could amuse you by telling the truth. Cheers!
  7. My issues with Fwoosh are all about "special treatment" and I've been saying this for at least the last 5 years. IMHO it's a an elitist board. I'll reiterate again that I got banned from the Fwoosh for linking to other comic book/action figure/custom websites including: TNI, AFI, the Doosh, and Critical Mess. When I was warned by a mod's PM, I PMed Pablo Lobo about it and he wrote back it's their policy. When I further questioned him in PM again, he hit me back using crude language something to the effect of "I'm not discussing this #$@# anymore." I hit him with another PM that his language was uncalled for and he further responded that "this conversation is over". It was, because they had stripped me of my ability to PM any further. Next I started a thread in their technical help expressing my unhappiness with the situation. It was immediately locked by their mods and four of them later dog-piled on me with their responses though I couldn't reply. Shortly after that without saying a word, my custom thread was deleted and a few days later my password didn't work anymore. Ridiculous treatment! All of this is a true story, so forgive me for not having any love for the Fwoosh. And by the way, I wouldn't bet that this is not being discussed on the Fwoosh. They have a members only paid private section called the Froosh that is quickly becoming one of the largest boards on the site. With a description reading "The first rule of Froosh Club is, you do not talk about Froosh Club.", I wouldn't hold my breath that TNI bashing isn't going on there.
  8. I also think there's something to be said about about Mattel's failure in choosing the Fwoosh as their distribution vehicle when that board has traditionally been a much more Marvel-centric place.
  9. There's a lot wrong with how Mattel handled this whole Gleek thing, but as a fan of many comic book toys and properties, who posts on many different websites, I'm upset with the special attention that the Fwoosh has gotten with this. Just my personal opinion (so anyone can say what they'd like about it, but MY opinion cannot be refuted) is that the Fwoosh is an overly moderated board with an almost gentry-like group within it. I've been banned from the Fwoosh twice for providing links to over comic book message boards (including here) and they've even gone as far as deleting my custom action figure thread. In the past and on more than one occassion, I'd find myself trying to explain something on the Fwoosh meanwhile my thread would be promptly locked by a moderator as a group of several other mods used their priveleged status to dogpile with a response that I was incapable of answer to. I'm not the only one who has faced this dynamic there. Mattel handled the whole Gleek thing wrong and sending extras to the Fwoosh was another mistep and it doesn't make it right. Just my 2 cents.
