G.I.Joe AVAC with Firebat Figure First Look

Yes friends, for a general idea of what ALL aromor wearing Joes or Cobras will look like in the 25th style, grab your Flash figure, and imagine!

Sorry, I've RARELY complained about anything 25th.....so I get to.

So, when Bludd came out, everyone bashed him for using Zartan's armoured look and someone posts a revision of him as a Flash repaint http://forums.toynewsi.com/index.php?showtopic=2054161

and it's hearaled as brilliant. But have hasbro do the same thing with a figure who really has always looked similar to flash

http://www.yojoe.com/action/86/avac.shtml

and its decried as awful.

Hypocrite.

Though I do have to admit that they should have used Zartan's arms instead of Flashes (minor problem to be overlooked).

I agree. I think the problem is that fans judge customs differently to official items. I mean, people would give praises to good customs like "You should work at X company!" However, when customizers do actually work at a company (two customizers sculpted the early Mortal Kombat figures for Jazwares toys,) they look awful. BTW,those same customizers were praised as brilliant and that they should work at a toy company.

I think some ppl gives higher praise to customs rather than actual figures just because they have this mindset that Hasbro or any other toy company can make aline with nothin but new molds. Even if it has been 20 years since RAH, it still doesn't mean technology can create new sculpted toys as affordable as a repainted toy.

Anyone got the issue and know when and where it's coming out? Been out of the loop.

I got mine in the mail Monday. They also show the picture of the SHARC and the new Deep Six. Deep Six is old school and appears to only have four POA (shoulders and hips, just like the vintage one.) If you look carefully at the "Reinforcements Are Coming" ad, you can see him in the cockpit, facedown. His new headsculpt looks good though.

I already have a SHARC from a previous reissue. Not particularly a huge fan of it as it seems a bit too big for the other Joes... the non-Deep Six kind. Lots of room for gear, though.

I hope the cockpit hasn't been modded on the Firebat from it's original size to accomodate this figure though. That would suck.

well.. look at the original Bludd.. and then the custom that dude made with Flash parts... Looks DEAD-ON. Bludd has that kind of chest armor. it fits him so much better than the Zartan body.

Avac doesn't look that much like Flash at all..

I feel that Zartan's armor is closer to the original Bludd, but I can see what you mean when you say it looks similar to Flash's. I feel that it is far from "Dead-on", though I do approve of adding a holster to his leg, and the removable helmet in the custom. Don't get me wrong it IS a good custom, but I'm happy with my Major Bludd.

I didn't mean to imply that AVAC looks at all like Flash, just that the chest armor is similar enough that I don't see a problem (yes the original AVAC lacks over the shoulder straps, but those make sense to add to show how the armor was held onto the wearer). I'm not saying that it is perfectly accurate to the original - its not.

That said however, I don't believe that everything in this line is supposed to be. It's 25 years later and while the new figure's looks are based on those of the original, it makes sense for some MINOR cosmetic changes to have occured to make the looks a little more realistic (IMHO).

I'm more angry about repainting Duke and Cobra Commander 10 different ways than taking some old parts and making a new character.

I agree.

I think this figure looks great.

One thing though. Are we actually getting a Firebat, or just the AVAC? It doesn't say anything on the cover of that magazine, so who's to say we're not just getting a single carded AVAC, and that's just a V1 Firebat along with him for the sake of the cover of the magazine? Does it show more pics on the inside or talk about the Firebat actually being released?
