  1. This would be an isolated case and not a QC issue for the Palace Guards (or for most of the figures). Being that you bought them loose, you never really know what treatment they have received before they got to you.
  2. Nope, just need an active card to charge. They just want to make sure everyone that signs up has a credit card to charge. I know what is going to happen now though. In the next year about a 1/3 of those cards will expire and people will call DR with the new one. And then problems will start....
  3. Yeah, the difference in shipping is nothing. I have found that cornerstone logistics is taking about the same amount of time as UPS would. I am never in a hurry for anything also, so whenever I can save a few $$ I always go the cheaper route. All my stuff is shipped to NY state but I don't think shipping is much cheaper even if you are down the road from them in California. For me USPS would be $250.00 + $19.65 Shipping + $18.88 tax or UPS would be $250.00 + $20.70 shipping + $18.95 tax.
  4. It would depend on what type of shipping you use and also what your local taxes are. I think that if you have a higher tax area and choose the expensive shipping the max you would be paying would be $300.00. You can also go onto the Matty site and go through the motions to purhcase it. It will give you a total with shipping and taxes. Just don't go any furthor than the CC info and capthca.
  5. I understand business more so than you apparently. Your line of "reasoning" is so stupid it is beyond words. The worst part is that someone may actually look at what you typed and believe that. Guaranteed sales does not = profit. I have no doubt that they will probley reach the target number but there is no business in the world that would do a pre-order and if they only hit 50% of target sales STILL go ahead and sell them. The first 50% (or more) wouldn't even cover costs.
  6. Huh??? If Mattel thinks they will lose $10.00 on this line it is toast. They are not doing this out of the goodness of their corporate hearts.
  7. Exactly. By the time they pay tax and shipping on these they are looking at $28.00-$29.00 per figures. Now he has to pay someone to deal with them when they arrive. So out of that $40.00 for the lesser figures maybe $5.00-$6.00 profit. The higher priced ones will help cover what they will loose on the FFM. Also, alot of people will look at it and say $40.00 or $50.00 for the 1 figure I need is alot better than the $500.00 Matty wants for the sub. The asking price for Ram Man will definately be a sellers market. I'm thinking $140.00 or better on Ebay.
  8. True, but does anyone think for a second they aren't trying to come up with ways to squeeze every last dime out of us? I bought my 2 subs as usual. I like the sub model as I don't have to worry about logging on once a month and fighting the WSOD. I didn't get the sub the first year and I swore after that I would (and have). I'm gonna get it all anyway, so why not make it easy on myself?
  9. Really?? Next time you go to the bank, Wal-Mart, Target, grocery store or wherever just keep that in mind.
  10. I disagree. I think the Kamakura and Beachhead look good. The Rock...not so much.
  11. Well said and pretty much spot on. How many subs do you think will sell next year if Ram Man is the sub figure...
  12. Being familiar with logistics I know that once the seacans leave China they can track almost to the day when these will arrive. They knew it was going to be late but dealyed the announcement long enough (to the day I might add) that Digital River charges everyones cards. I would think this is more a Digital River thing than a Matty thing. For DR to have delayed charging people would have thrown their whole world into turmoil, and we know how well they are able to handle that. Sometimes the just-in-time business model goes screwy. To me it doesn't matter that I am charged now and get them later. It just avoids a big double bill in January when the next sub comes out. As long as I can still lay my hands on that Legion of Superheroes set I will be one happy collector.
  13. They've had 5-6 months since it was first announced to figure it out. Even Digital River would have come up with something.
  14. I just noticed that Matty has posted the Legion of Super Heroes set in their Dec. 15th sale. It is going to have the re-isse starburst but who cares. I might be able to lay my hands on it this time.
  15. Seriously, give us a price. Makes ya wonder why they are holding that back. They have been "working on the billing system" for what 5 months now? Even Digital River would have figured something out by now. Who cares about artwork...give us the cost!!!!
