2009 NYCC: DC Mattel Panel

I'm really hoping they show more than just DCUC wave 9, if they even show those. I also see that apparently DCD will have a Black Lantern version of Martian Manhunter, going by the silouette behind John Stewart. And it seems possible that since they only mention the Bats/Clay and Supes/Brainiac 2-packs, that the other pre-order choices didn't make the grade?

And, of course, another Wally exclusive. With promises to do better this time (although their defense all along was they have no control over what retailers order and where they distribute, so I don't see how they can make a statement like that...)

Before I forget, I wonder if Black Canary having real fishnets on her legs would swayed some insecure DCUC buyers from buyin the toy since it would reminds them of dolls. LMAO

Hell, no! That's the only way to have her! Same with Zatanna, if they get around to her.

I know, but there are a few ppl here (whom I won't name names) who would call it a girl's doll for havin something like that.

I personally prefer the real fishnets since it beats sculpted ones; the McF toys such as the Aliens vs pred figures have sculpted ones with the black coloured. Becaused they're factory figs, the black paint doesn't always hit the mark, which makes the fishnet lines skin coloured.

Sculpted fishnets would only look good if someone spends hrs to paint the mold lines black.

Bummer that there's no plans for a Jason Todd figure right now, but that's not a surprise. I assume that was a fan question at the panel because that's kind of an obscure thing to say.

I wish they would have just shown us a new Joker rather than tease it. If he's that far off, I would have preferred to not have confirmation he's coming since we pretty much knew we'd get one eventually. It just makes it that much tougher waiting.

I'm not crazy about another Walmart exclusive wave, and it bugs me that again they say distribution should be better. Of course they're going to say that because they know that's everyone's biggest complaint, but they can't guarantee anything. I would guess it'll be just like Wave 5.

Wave 9 sounds pretty awesome, though it wasn't a surprise since we saw a possible list ahead of time.

I don't collect JLU, but they've got some pretty sweet figures on the way from the sound of things. Superman Red and Blue will be cool.

I dun buy the DCIC toys, but boy l want that 30 inch antimonitor fig. Hope they sell that toy rather than havin it only as a raffle. Looks to have the normal dcsh poa.

That classic Braalnlac and Supes figs look good despite that superman has the eradicator head with the void crismon eyes.

Green Arrow looks awsome though it looks like the other vers that DCD made

Deadshot looks cool too

Black Adam- I was hopin for more of a serious look like he is drawn by Ross, though the neutral look is okay

Once again, a wave where I want each character, making the issue of getting them all just to have the BAF moot! I'd get 'em all even if there wasn't a BAF involved!

Kinda torn on the versions of Mantis - I only know the robotic one from SuperPowers, but the <comic?> version looks just as good. Either one will do for me!

If I had a real 'complaint', it would be the eyes on Chemo. Is that really how he looks? Seems like a jacked-up-on-coffee version of some Pokemon character... But I do love the rest of him!

Okay Mattel (and Hasbro, if you're listening), please knock of the point saving crap. Just sell the darn figures in normal brick-and-mortar stores...PLEASE!!! I certainly can't go to CA to get the Anti-Monitor and I have no faith in your stupid website after the MOTU figures slipped through my grasp. Cripes! Oh, and stop the build-a-figures too, they are annoying and insulting! Stop the fanciness!

Point saving is stupid, but BAF are not. It's probably one of the best toy ideas ever.

Very impressive figures coming down the pike.

Damn. GA's bow is like artemis where it has an arrow sculpted on the bow and the string is plastic. However, he has more than one arrow so l am curious how they goin to make him pose with that if the arrow sculpted on? Probably an interchangeable arrowhead?

I wonder what dc will do when they loose their steam like marvel did with their legends? Mattel/DC is pumping figures out at an alarming rate. What are they gonna do when they make all of their A-listers and B-listers? I hope everyone enjoys this while it lasts. :(:(

Looks that way. I plan on trimming the arrow and string off, making some notches on both ends of the bow, like a real one, and re-stringing either elastic or thread on instead. Simple enough project. If I ever find an Artemis, I'd do the same thing with hers, too.

TOYSNIPER,

I have wondered the exact same thing. What will happen when they lose steam?

The figures that they are placing on the market are coming rapidly.

I know that my wallet is taking a hit.

There are quite a few characters that I would still love to see ... actually there are tons of characters that I would love to see released.

Marvel Legends changed hands from ToyBiz and it seemed like it went downhill from there.

How many Wolverines, Iron Mans, Captain Americas and Thors do I really need?

In the DC line, there are quite a few characters that I would still love to see.

I would love to see Black Mask, Martian Manhunter, Detective Chimp, Ragman, Blue Devil, Spectre.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a collect and connect Darkseid or Bane? Huntress would be a wonderful addition as would Zatanna. Red Arrow would be great and the Legion of Super Heroes opens up some possibilities as well. Elongated man could be fun. We still have yet to see Hush, Poison Ivy. Ras Al Ghul.

There is also the possibilities of several different Green Lantern figs and if there is one figure that I would love to see the 4 Horsemen sculpt , it would be Kilowog.

I do have the same concerns but at the same time, after seeing some of the obscure characters that they have been including in their lines, I have hope.

Who would have thought that we would get Mantis and Etrigan?

OMG!!!! If there was ever a time to use that acromym, it is now!! OMG!!!

There's a reason why I came on board this line from the get go, and it's to get faithful representations of characters I have known since I was a wee lil girl!!! While Marvel may be my preferred universe, I have known the DC one a bit longer!! And while I started out just to get the SuperPowers/Superfriends figures only, I have branched out and decided to get the entire line now!!!

I gotta say, to whoever posted end the BAF statement, may you be only one lil insignificant voice!!! I love em, and make collecting this line that much sweeter!!!

Who did I geek out when I saw em, well definitely Black Adam, perfection in every which way!!! I also totally geeked out when I saw the Super Powers Mantis!!! I am definitely getting that version no matter what!!! It's so 80's right now, with him and the Super Powers Para-Demon coming, I am in Super Powers heaven!!! I just hope the classic Robin can't be far behind!!! Batman needs his classic sidekick!!

Need to go back and take in everything again!!! #US1#

Oh and now that Wal Mart is carrying DCUC, I don't mind another exclusive wave!!! While it was hard to find the first one, I got the ones I really wanted, Atom, Riddler, and Amazo, left behind Static and Supes!! I can't wait to see who they come out with this time!!!

OMG I ust read the panel completely and saw the line about figures coming from both shws and comics!!!!!! That has to mean we might get Apache, Vulcan, and the rest of the Super Friends!!! maybe one day the rest of the Super Powers too!!!!!!
