DCUC DOOMSDAY Revealed

So I'm sure most of you have noticed that at this years SDCC Mattel showed off two possible versions of Doomsday. A "meh" version and a real version of it depending on how many subscribers they get.

After being a subscriber to CIE I have mixed feelings about it. Although it has improved, I don't really feel like I am getting enough characters that I like (personal problem I know). Additional stunts like this from Mattel make me constantly feel as if I am being tricked or toyed with. How do you feel about it? The "Unleashed" Doomsday looks solid but I would hate to renew and then get the "bound" version because of a number Mattel says they reached or don't reach.

Im here at the con and I already subbed up. The meh version looks outstanding to me, I saw it in person and I would love to get both. Are you here at the con?. Its a business and they need to do things to guarantee to the finance department that ,they are gonna make money and not lose it. A lot of companies are cautious about risk thease days.

Being here has really gave me some perspective. If you were only to go by this forum you'd think that everyone hates mattel and that no ones buys there stuff but at the panels there lots chears and packed house. I also realized after 3 days of the craziest most hectic SDCC that I've been is regardless of what it is some people do nothing but complain and choose or do not see the reasons or rationality behind something they don't like.

I ran into one of the four horsemen and the way he talked about the toys he makes made me realize that he loves and has more invested in this than I do. I think there are a lot of people at mattel, neca ect. That love their work and if it was up to them they would make 100$ quality toys and sell them for 5$ but stuff doesn't work that way.

I think we might not get to the 2nd tier just like we didn't with conner supes and ms martian even though everyone said that it was a scare tactic and sometimes it is, all I care about is that I didnt get Ms. Martian

No, I am not at the Con. Would love to be but cannot, I do understand it's a business but at the same time they haven't been the most stable with their releases. I love DCUC and have all the figures (except for wave 18). There are many other toy lines I collect but I only run into the shenanigans and trickery with DCUC & Marvel Legends. It make me wary that a company their size has to play the marketing tricks that they do. That being said I will continue to support the line It's just at a point for me that I just want to be presented with a product to purchase or pass on. Don't want to subscribe, or be hindered by vauge goals and deadlines (sometimes extended sometimes not).

I also pre ordered the Ms Martian & Superboy pack too man, glad you get to enjoy the con! I hope to make it one day.

This is why I don't subscribe. If Mattel wants my money, they have to make the figures I want, put them in stores where I can find them, and charge a decent price for them. I'm not gonna pay for the possibility of getting the version of a figure I want.

Mattel needs to remember we're doing them a favor by buying their product . . . not the other way around.

Funny at the hasbro pannel fans were screaming for subs. They said that it was not big enough and money was not there to provide that seervice.

I was sitting there thinking there may be no way for me to get that doomsday when I remembered that I'm getting married next year and maybe, just maybe I can play the wedding gift card. Ask someone to get it for me for a present. I'll have to send whoever I ask for it from to ebay, of course. What do you think they'd scalp that for, no less than $100, I assume. Hmmmmmmm.....

I don't quite understand the 1st tier/2nd tier system. What are they talking about.

Hopefully with hook hand Aquaman it will be a bit easier. Just hop online one morning in January, hit "refresh" for a few hours, pay double what I should for a 6" figure and I should be good, right?

I have a soft spot for 90s stuff. Not all, but some. These two, IMO are must haves if you're talking 90s comics. They'll go on the shelf right next to my electro Supes, Kyle Green Lantern, and Cable.

I guess it is all just a matter of opinion. When it comes to DCUC's I have only collected the DCUC Batman related figures since series 1, I have never had the urge to buy a non-batman related character. The contained version of Doomsday however about made me fall out of my chair. This is a figure I have waited for FOREVER!!!!! I love both and want both badly, but the first one is a dream come true. I prefer it 10-1 over the tier 2 version (even though Mattel's version looks like perfection) so I guess it just depends on the person. If they make a beaten and bloody Superman though my preference would probably even out at 50/50. You would have to have a tier 2 version to wail on 'ol Supes.

The Doomsdays should be a real treat for those faithful fans who've been asking for him for a long time. I know there are a lot of them out there. I just wasn't one of them.

Over all, it was a pretty lukewarm showing for DCUC at SDCC. I'll very likely be passing up on the sub this year. Only Ice had me even remotely interested and only because I'm already getting Fire. Even Ocean Master seemed disappointing and not the detailed eye-catching prize that he should've been.

Those new lines are insanity. Already they are doomed toy aisle clots.

I guess the only thing that thrilled me this year were the Marvel Legends reveals and the 6" Star Wars line.

Way to lose me, Mattel. At least you're one heartbeat above G.I.Joe... which I guess Hasbro forgot they own.

I don't get the logic behind the tier one or tier two Doomsday. I actually like the reveals enough to consider getting the sub for the first time since this began, and knowing FOR SURE that I'd get tier two Doomsday would push me in that direction. Knowing that it might end up being tier one Doomsday actually makes me more reluctant to get the sub simply because it's an expensive figure I don't want. Much easier to just get what I want from ebay if it ends up like that.
