Disney Confirms Stand-Alone Star Wars Movies

Spin off movies= Bad Idea plain and simple, I would've preferred the live action series that they were working on to a spin off movie of Han Solo or Boba Fett of all characters these are obvioulsy to capitalize on the popularity of the characters. Feat of Strength brings a valid point if we get these where does it end? Let's get a spin off movie of Boshek since he appeared in the movie and probably has some backstory written in a comic or book. Speaking of Expanded Universe if we get spin offs I want a movie of Quinlan Vos since in terms of story he did more in the Republic comic series than the overrated Boba Fett.

Ashton Kutcher as "young" Han Solo.. I'm calling it!!!! Even though he's probably as old as Harrison Ford was when he filmed ANH... okay, hold on, let me rethink that...

No....Hell No!

So he can play the same character that he plays in every other acting roll he gets? Is there a limit to how many times I can say "UGH" in one thread? :)

Joe Johnston...very vocal about making Captain America with the same "feeling of Raiders of the Lost Ark". Thats a tall order to fill, and an epic FAIL in my opinion.

Joe is one of many in the "old school" that have just plain lost it. Then again, we're talking a third rate character like Boba Fett: I guess he proved he can handle masked background characters with flamethrowers in Hydra soldiers, if your into that sort of thing...

Ashton as Han Solo...that's just as bad if not worse than Ryan Reynolds being cast as Macleod in the Highlander remake

or... That 70s Show.. oh, wait...@hmmm@

I'm trying to think of lead characters that have been in past JJ movies/shows as it seems Directors always seem to use certain actors.

WAIT.. I got it, Pacey Witter(Josh Jackson) as Young Han Solo.. He has the cockiness, smugness.. wait he's like 35ish too.. damn, all my teen heartrobs are all grown up now.. :(

Whatever would happen, it would be cool if at the end of the Han Solo movie, he meets up with Lando and wins the Falcon. That'd be kind of cool.. heck, there are a lot of things I think that could be in the Han movie, meeting and freeing Chewie could be the main thing, then leaving the Empire and jumping ship, turning smuggler, all those things would be kinda cool.

I hate to admit it but yeah....you may be right.

And I LOVED the Cap movie.

With all of the 'Han Solo Adventures' novels and EU stories*, I don't see a real need for a 'young Han Solo' movie, not to mention the challenge of casting a young Harrison Ford. Are we looking at the Star Wars equivalent of the Last Crusasde openning sequence? see how he meets Chewie, how he gets the Falcon/Pistol/etc... see him in the Kesel Run... That might be interesting if we didn't have 35 years of EU,...*assuming the EU isn't just overwritten @hmmm@

I liked Ewan's Obi-Wan, but, I don't see a movie of him in hiding on Tatooine, watching over Luke. (Episode 3.8?, lol)

Like was said, a lot of these ideas could probably be glimpsed in the tv series. If anything Rogue Squadron, 'Tales of the Jedi', or 'The Old Republic' seem more suited for stand alone movies, imo ;)

Also, dare I ask, could this bring the Zack Snyder rumor/story back to life? @hmmm@

Man.. I really wish the Live Action show happened... I mean, it probably, or something like it, could still happen, but just the thought of a Rogue Squadron show, like the Battlestar reimagine... sigh... that would have been cool. As long as they didn't make all the main characters female, lol.

Han Solo Stand-Alone Film For 2016?

According to the article,

2015 - Episode 7

2016 - Han Solo Stand-alone

2017 -

2018 - Boba Fett Stand-alone

2019 -

2020 - Yoda Stand-alone

Shouldn't Ep 8 be 2018 (3 years apart), or, are they now talking about sequels every other year?

Hmmmm....not sure I think that schedule will work and still do quality work.

I'm going with the "wait and see" attitude for Episode 7. The rest of this stuff, however, I'm pretty weary of. UGH, Bobba Fett. They're going to build a whole movie (possibly more) around a costume, hu? Woopie. But that's just Bobba Fett...I don't get him, don't understand how a costume (and yep, it IS a pretty cool costume) gets so much fanboy love. I DO get Han Solo and I DO get Yoda (the pre-CGI puppet version that actually served a major purpose for the story) and I STILL don't know if a movie for each of them is completely necessary.

They could do shadows of the empire..I know the cast is old but if they do it in CGI like the way the Polar Express was animated they could make the actors look like they did back in the day.Remember Harrison wouldn't be in this movie

I'm wondering how, or if, they're going to fill in the 30 year gap. I thought the animated series would do it, but, since that's going to be pre-ANH, the stand-alone movies would be a good option. I understand basing films around your most popular characters, but, once you establish the new characters in Ep. 7, they could fill in the gaps between episodes.
