Bandai S.H. MonsterArts

The Maestro

Recommended Posts

From the people that brought us the S.H Figurearts and Ultra-Act lines, they're finally tackling Godzilla and other related characters.

My first two figures arrived earlier this week.

I had the digicam handy and decided to have some fun with my recent acquisitions...

Starting with the King of Monsters, of course.

I have all of the revoltech monsters and Godzilla is on his way. Im not sure about Mecha yet, I have both diecast chogokins so it kinda seems redundant and I doupt this will mach those. I also skipped the revoltech legion, just looked off to me and the atrogon (whats the point). I am looking foward to space godzilla, I really hope they do a Biolantte and Hedora.

Looks like they're focusing on the Heisei era characters for now, as the Tamashii Facebook page just officially announced a release MOGUERA for May. Plus, photos of King Ghidorah, Destroyah (aggregate version), and Baby Godzilla are turning up for this line.

If they do Biollante, it'll have to be huge to stay in scale. I'd like to see them pull this off.

Destroyah is a great pull, maybe we will get a Battra and modern Mothra. A mecha King would be very cool. Man if they ever get to showa there are so many Kaiju to showcase. Id kill for a Frankenstien or Ebirah or hell a Jet Jaguar.

I also skipped on the web exclusive sets, 70 bucks for some plastic tanks just seemed to much for me. I mean I feel cheated with the revoltech maser...lol. Baby godzilla is up for preorder, gonna have to get him.

I found a decent deal for the weapons/effects set that I ended up getting two sets.

With the second set...

Several more squadrons of jets and battalions of maser tanks have been deployed by the JSDF to stop the king of the monsters! :P

However, efforts are proving futile!

I'll utilize the orange atomic breath that came in the set when the SDCC Burning Godzilla is released. It should go nicely with that version!

Yeah, Toyfreakz announced about the exclusive here:

I hope it's offered online, as I won't be able to attend the con. Either way, the Burning Godzilla looks awesome!

Still chomping at the bit for my preorder of Space Godzilla to arrive. At least my Garuda effects kit came in, and I finally had a chance to mess around with it!

Pic and thoughts of course. :)

The kit comes in a silver foil box that has the Garuda logo on the front and the a Mechagodzilla logo on the back.

DSC04232.jpg

DSC04233.jpg

The Garuda is listed as UX-01-92 which is a nice nod to the movie that introduced it. This follows the prologue in the movie the Garuda was developed first by the UNGCC to tackle Godzilla, before developing Mechagodzilla, which is listed as UX-02-93.

DSC04234.jpg

The set comes with the main vehicle, stand, maser cannon effects, shock anchors cables, and adapters for the combination mode.

Garuda as a stand alone vehicle is pretty nice on its own. Details are pretty accurate with clean paint apps, even down to the G-Force logos.

DSC04246.jpg

Some nice little features are the moveable rocket engines on the back of Garuda. Each rocket can be moved individually and rotate to certain angles depending on how you display it.

You can also remove the the tips of the maser cannons, and replace them with the added effects.

DSC04245.jpg

When upgrading to SuperMechagodzilla, this is where this set really starts to shine!

To upgrade, several pieces need to be removed from the underside.

DSC04249.jpg

The parts in the lower part of the picture are removed from Garuda, and the two smaller pieces above replace them. The modified pieces are molded differently to allow a better fit for the combination.

DSC04251.jpg

Mechagodzilla also gets a new back piece adapter.

DSC04252.jpg

Once the parts are in place, Garuda plugs right in the back of Mechgodzilla.

DSC04253.jpg

The cockpit of Garuda slides back just like it did in the movie, and the maser turrets move up and down.

Behold, SUPER MECHAGODZILLA!

DSC04238.jpg

DSC04240.jpg

DSC04241.jpg

The shock anchors plug right into the sockets of Mechgodzilla's arms. Time to reenact the G-Crusher scene from the movie! :D

DSC04242.jpg

Beam Wars!

Overall, it's a neat set to compliment your SHMA Mechagodzilla, or if you just prefer your Garuda by itself, it still displays nicely on its own as another weapon to fend off your Godzilla.

Thanks for letting me share! :)
