Hooray for repaints!

They look OK. When it comes time that I see this on the shelf, I'll have to think about how much I really need to replace my pre-ML original X-Men set from Toy Biz. They're in scale with ML and look pretty good (less articulation, of course). Only my Cyclops came with two left feet... :(

I would rather have a Jim Lee X-Men Boxset...

totally agree w/you on this....like the 3.75 TRU Uncanny Boxset they put out but sans/badguys & only Xmen in the lineup....but much like the rest of you guys I'll wait till I have them in hand & see if it's worth the price as the outfits do nothing for me even though they're the original lineup....

$89 is still outrageous let alone TRU's Marvelous Markup.....like how they adjusted the price so the 15% off coupon they just released means nothing....I shop there but only cause that's where I buy my Neca stuff, they never have Joes or Marvel guys in stock so I shop at Target & Ross mostly & local comic shops...TRU "exclusives" = "scalpclusive"...I loathe exclusives, while most for me are a pass the very few I want to actually see in hand are like chasing bigfoot...especially ordering blind off the internet & the figs show up w/hard to overlook QC issues & having to deal w/mailing them back....it's quite the racket for box-stores...

  • 2 weeks later...

pre-ordered online at toysrus.ca $99.99 for the set, legends here in canada are $20 anyway, so im saving nothing...but i do get free shipping, so i save in gas...not that i wouldnt be going to toysrus anyway!!

side note...i think there should be more box sets...with what ever is going on in comics right now(new costumes, different teams) not to mention the past(jim lee, the original original x-men)

Seeing these just makes me realize how much I miss Toybiz doing Marvel Legends. Most of Hasbro's figures suck in comparison to what Toybiz gave us IMO.

wow really?? These are not up to Hasbro Standards but the last few years Hasbro has been blowing TB away. I hate most TB ML now, awkward porportions. Useless articulation. Even sloppier pants than Hasbro. The worst female head sculpts in the modern age @loll@ I could keep going. To each their own though

I admit that Hasbro does the female characters better.. in some cases, MUCH better.

but to me, Hasbro hasn't even begun to approach the craftsmanship that Toybiz gave us.

I am curious to hear which Hasbro figures from the past few years have been blowing Toybiz away

Iceman and Beast are so disappointing. Beast should be decked out in articulation...for obvious reasons. But he seems to be the least of the five. And shouldn't Iceman be more "snowman" than ice if it's First Appearance?

these aren't "first appearance" figures... these are based on the recent comics... the original 5 came back somehow into today's world.

I really don't know much more than that since I haven't read anything new in years

There's no clear cut winner. Both Hasbro and Toy Biz have examples of figure that are completely awesome and complete duds.

It's pretty much understood that the Hasbro females are better than TB 99% of the time. No use talking about that.

I have certain TB figures that have gone completely limp at the shoulders, legs, and ab crunch (Mr. Fantastic, Nick Fury) making them nearly useless in trying to pose. Hasbro figs seem sturdier to me, can hold a pose better.

There are also certain TB figures that have been done so well I can't imagine needing to replace them (Gambit, Nightcrawler).

I think Hasbro's movie figures are awesome. Love the 6" Avengers stuff. But then TB did some good ones too...Tobey Spider-Man and Ian McKellen Magneto from X2 are two of my faves.

The latest Hasbro stuff from Captain America and Spider-Man lines are solid all around...

Like I say, there's no clear cut winner. Only difference is one company is still making toys and the other isn't.

Modern day Beast decides he doesn't agree with a lot of the things modern day Cyclops has been up to. So he decides to go back in time and bring young, innocent Cyclops to the future so he can kind-sorta "talk some sense" into him. If that plan sounds kind of vague it's because it is. And honestly, it's really not explained in the comics any further than that. Of course, the other young X-Men tag along for no other reason other than "they're a team".

It's a hackneyed plan at best and in reality it would have devastating effects on the timeline. It's hard to by into the fact that this "plan" was thought up by Beast....the "smart" one.

In the end, it's rally just a gimmick to bring the young X-Men to the present to keep telling stories about them. I gave it a good 14 or so issues before I quit. Every other issue features the Avengers showing up to wave their finger at the X-Men and say "you guys better watch yourselves", and having the young X-Men threaten to go back to their own time where they belong (they never do).

Hmmm...

Looking at my Hasbro Jim Lee Jean Grey next to my Toybiz Phoenix, I'm not sure I agree with you at all...
